Let's face it, this is a really nice set of pliers. Does it do more than a regular set of pliers, is it worth the extra cost? I say, yes. I haven't used these all that much since I got them, but when I do reach for them, I'm never disappointed. In summary, this is a kick butt set of pliers and I recommend them.

What happens if you expose the pliers to direct sunlight, do they turn to dust? That is a nice tool.

I got a pair of these a couple weeks ago after watching a review that Scotty Kilmer did on them. They are one of my favorite tools for around the house, my wife even uses them especially since they don't seem to require as much strength to use them as normal pliers. They really grip and the tool does the work. Thanks Eric!
These pliers are actually made by Engineer. You can get them at a fraction of the cost from Japan! These VAMPliers are the pro version equal to Engineer PZ-59 Negi-Sauris. The VAMPlier slip joint are the same as PZ-56. The mini are the same as PZ-57. The sandard vamp are same as PZ-58. Engineer makes a bunch of other pliers, cutters, wire stripers etc too. The only difference is the colour of the handles and the etching on them. They put red handles, put a new name on them, jackecd up the price for the American consumer. Don't underestimate them Japanese. My teacher years ago is Japanese he told me. American's sent them a drill bit with a note "we made the world smallest drill bit". Japan sent it back with a drill bit drilled through the middle of the American drill bit. lol I'm from Canada BTW and have owned the Engineer pliers for a long time. I got a lot of friends from Japan. I just came across Eric's video's recently. Thanks for all the video's Eric! Gave me some idea's and a few good laughs too.
I'm about to purchase the Neji-Saurus PZ-59 pliers here real quick. It's funny because both promotional videos are identical as well except for the Neji pliers adding the T-Rex and roar in the background.
It's not really 'a fraction of the cost' of Vampliers. The Engineer PZ-58 is 21.00 and the Vamplier 001 is 23.00, a giant two dollar difference. The extra two dollars for the Vampliers gets you a two year warranty that you don't get with the Engineer version. So if you're a professional or just hard on your tools, the Vamplier version may actually be a better buy than the Engineer.
If you like those, you'd love gas line pliers. You can look them up on EBay. They have the same screw-gripping serrations in the front of the jaws, but additionally, the jaws are shaped to grab round stuff. The handles are very long and they are hardened way up like a file so they grip unbelievably well and you can use them where you would never think to try pliers. They are amazing for rounded fasteners, tie rod ends and adjuster sleeves, just for a few examples.
Still a better love story than Twilight..

Technically the pliers you compared them to were not the same type. The Vampliers are lineman's pliers which always have the side cutters, while the other ones were slip joint pliers, which usually don't. My other pair of lineman's pliers are also sturdier than regular pliers, but the Vampliers have a lot better gripping strength and better steel.

the way I'm looking at it is, which pair of "regular" pliers are you going to grab when you want to extract a screw? that's the pliers you should be comparing with.
Are they not made in China that's what holds me back from buying a pair
its Engineer but you forgot to mention that it can hold very thin objects securely!
The jaw design is from the Crescent brand “gas line” pliers. My grandpa was a steam fitter and always had a pair with him. Not sure when they first came out- 40’s or 50’s maybe. Crescent discontinued them at some point, my father found NOS 2nd’s online recently and bought me a pair. The vampliers are definitely more beefy and add the sidecutter.
I had a set similar to this years ago, same notch in the center as well. The only thing I complaint I had about them is they one trick pony design. I wound up destroying the teeth after a while and they wouldn't grip a fastener any longer.
I had that happen but after really hard use. I just used a file and they were good again.
Another pair (which may actually be the original if I am reading it right) here in Japan, are called Nejisaurus, and they are made by a company named Engineer. Engineer's specialty is pliers.
Neji, or ねじ means bolt, in case you are curious.
I bought a 2 pair set of the size you show(gave it as a guilt) and kept the 5 inch(black handles) one for me. LOVE this pliers.
In your fire extinguisher example, sk turbo sockets would work better and much, much faster. I do like the vampliers for bending and manipulating small items.
I could totally see those being useful for those maddening spring-type hose clamps that love to slip out of regular pliers.
I actually own a few different sizes of Vampliers, they're incredible tools. They often remove rusty fasteners where other tools won't. They also have no wobble at all, super solid.
I really appreciate these product reviews. You're not just selling something, but actually living with it for a while and really getting to know it so you can have an honest opinion. I can also see how difficult it might be to walk that line. I mean, if a product doesn't turn out to be all that great, you don't want to just insult the manufacturer. Pointing out what it's good at and also how the product can be improved is a positive thing for all parties.

South Main Auto Repair have you tried this tool out and did you like it, I hear it was a good tool to have. Would you try it after watching this video from EricTheCarGuy. EricTheCarGuy do you plan on using this in other repairs or is it just a tool that you'll have in your collection?
I picked some up after Scotty Kilmer showed them but haven't had a good excuse to try them out for real yet. Seem well made though I've seen reviews saying the teeth that grab the screw can wear down easily.

Nice pliers, but how many type of pliers do I need? I own dozens already. Well, if that company sends me a free pair to review, I'll use them for sure. Can they be used for hose clamps? Do they have any automotive applications?

Looks like someone used the wrong bit on that screw, like PH2 instead of PH3, or PZ2 instead of PH3 or something similar.

Will these work on a stripped torx fastener? Got a 13 dodge dart and the caliper mounting bracket bolt is stripped (Thanks dodge for using a torx). The fastener is round on the outside with the torx in the center.
do the vampliers have to go in a coffin during daylight hours?
It'd have been great if they included a case for it that looked like a coffin.

I heard this is like one of the best tools to have in your collection, would love to test one out to see if if it really is true. Seems like I would buy to try but too much money to spend to get one at the moment.
Better yet, I modified a visegrip’s jaws to accomplish the same thing 35yrs ago for submarine repair work.

Those would be useful for me in places like kentucky when its raining all the time with high moisture and humidity. Everything i touch is rusty especially my brakes.....i get nightmares trying to clean under the car with a wire brush
they look more like some pliers used to remove hose clamps that sometimes you need a special tool to remove them.
Get the generic Engineer PZ-58 pliers, exactly the same but much cheaper. Better color too.
I agree on the price issue although "if you buy cheap you buy twice."
+Styx Theta There's no sacrifice in quality though. They're made in Japan with the same steel and material. The vampliers are just rebranded PZ-58s.
I could a nice pair of vice grips and wire cutters for half the price of these. I would never spend $30 on a pair of pliers unless the fixed things by themselves.

Pliers, that have no use but to strip hexes were originally invented for battery terminals on electric cars in the mid 1800s ;)

Chris Meek The pliers will grip a hold of anything with a head on it that is not heat fastened. The tool was designed for stripped, corroded and specialty screws. The horizontal and vertical serrations allow it to "bite" the plug and the curved surface keeps it from slipping off to the side. I hope this helps. think they would be amazing for removing foreign objects from tires.. I do a lot of semi tires...
+Billthrasher side cutters and a punch as a fulcrum work just as well...i hated digging out bits of metal before putting in a uniseal.

Eric , I just saw this on your channel and had to tell you and ask you if you've ever heard of the reason most screws torque out and strip the heads. You are probably using the US Philips screwdrivers. I switched mine to the Japanese JIS standard screwdrivers and the screws stop stripping when you install and remove. All the japanese cars use them and they fit the standard US Philips screws better than the standard U.S ones. The US Philips screwdrivers are designed to torque our to prevent breaking the fasteners!!! I can not believe the years and time I've spent stripping screwdriver heads. Vessel is cheaper than snap on, and works on Japanese and American phillips screws. ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY if you work on Toyota, Honda, Mazda or other Japanese cars. Also, they are made in Japan.

EricTheCarGuy ive always trusted your reviews.Cause when a product doesn't perform you let us know and are not fake like some of these sellouts trying to sell product xyz . Swear anything else wont work on your vehicle or project for 29 bucks for a design pliers should have had to begin with.It seems fairly priced as well
