I went back and watched it again [ 2:10 ] and I don't think he's using a hole in the brake rotor. I think he's talking about the hole in the end of the axle shaft? [ 3:51 ] Hard to see with the photography not being zoomed in (hint hint nudge nudge), but he rotated the wheel which would preclude it being in a hole on the rotor. Doesn't seem like it would be too stable in the axle either cuz he's going to be moving the axle forward and backwards with the chain tensioner, well with the stand being the stable point you'd be moving the bike forward and backwards with the chain tensioner? Inquiring minds want to know. Ride Safe👋
I made my own single leg stand with a horseshoe type loop on top that goes under the swing arm. When I forgot my chain lube, I used pan spray to lube my chain on a 500 mile trip and it seemed to work OK.
I've never seen a motorcycle jack (actually a jack stand) that uses a pin in a hole. Most wedge under the swing arm or skid plate. I made an adjustable 3D printed version but the prototype was too weak and I haven't followed up to print a stronger version. I may make one on my resin 3D printer. That would certainly be strong enough, but I'm going to try again on the FDM printer first using a more structural filament and a slightly beefier design. Resin printers have too much slopping around with alcohol to clean the uncured resin and UV post curing which is a big messy time wasting hassle.
I clean my chain, but i use only Xring or Oring chains. So the orings and xrings keep the grease inside. So i usually get around 10,000 miles of hard use offroad 50% or morenof the time. I sont own chain lube because of this. I only use Diesel to clean it....thats it. For 35 yrs. 10,000 miles our of every chain. Even on my old race bikes.
I like having a centerstand 👍 But while I'm riding the S-10 (Super Tenere), I absolutely do NOT miss having to futz around with adjusting/lubing a chain. Shaft drives are a weight penalty, but a reliability plus and a "lack of on a trip maintenance" plus (on Yamaha's anyway, no comment on BMW'S 😮). Ride Safe 👋

Yeah. Derp. I had 90 minutes of sleep last night. I better take a nap.
I love my center stand! Comes in handy for working on the bike, but I get not having one too, big weight saving!

The tool he used looked similar to a "quick jack". Quick jack is more robust. I picked mine up from Eagle Mike the KLR Doohickey Godfather.

Cool little tool to have.
Will it work on my 800 pound cruiser
the one Iinked to will
Wait, you're suppose to lube your chain?
Only lubricate the special chains - the ones you want to keep!
