Thank you for all the important information very useful. I’m living in Hawaii very expensive I love to move to Italy I was born in Hungary 🇭🇺. How I can transfer my money to Sicily from Hawaii?
@JanosNemeth-y7n -- you can check out online services like Wise. That's what we use, and he link Wise to our Italian bank account. Then once cleared in Wise, we transfer to Italian bank. Fees are small, and it's convenient, in our opinion. Thanks for watching. 💚
Thank you both again , you are making my return to my beloved Sicilia easier and easier . I hope to get to know both of you when I do return ! Pasquale

Hi Carol & Croche, what is the trusted bank I can use in America to transfer money to Sicily or to all over Italy? Can you please give me an advice thank you .🙏
@JanosNemeth-y7n, we don't use a bank. We use Wise transfer service. It's free to set up an account, and then you link it to your Italian bank account to transfer funds. That's what we prefer. Thanks for watching. 😊 Blessings, ~ Carol Amato
When making an appointment at the social security office, what was the waiting time, please? So, I mean, when you contacted social security for an appointment, how long after contacting them was your appointment? I am contemplating returning to the states and I will be going in December to scope out Florida for a potential residence. Will I be able to get an appointment if I am only there for 10 days? I already receive social security benefits but need to sign up for medicare A, B and supplement G plan. 😃
Hi Evelyn. I think it depends on the office. You would have to search for that local office that you would be going to and see what the timeframe is for appointments. I think it’s determined by how busy they are. For us, it was a couple of weeks. You can also walk in and just wait to be seen as a walk-in. It may be a little bit to get in, but you will be seen that day. Thanks for watching.
I have health coverage in the Italian system, but I am finding the healthcare to be lacking. For example, I was told in July that I needed to be hospitalized for potential heart intervention and I am still waiting for notification when I will be hospitalized and it has been nearly 3 months. 😮
@@TheSicilianLife I initially had leg swelling and that has disappeared completely. I was born with heart defects, so I am not looking forward to having further tests. I would prefer having tests done in America, where I am familiar with the language. 😃
@@TheSicilianLife Wishing you both all the happiness with your future endeavors. I believe that your situation is very different since your husband is a native. That makes all the difference in the world! You must check out the east part of Sicily! Messina, Taormina etc.. They are beautiful! 😃
@evelyneliaz, Hi Evelyn, thanks for adding that. We definitely want to have a physical U.S. address for several reasons, but I do appreciate you watching and for adding great value to the conversation! 💚 Blessings, ~ Carol Amato
@sandracimino6033, Hi Sandra, first of all, thanks for watching and for the question. As far as we understand, Italy and U.S. have an agreement for no double taxation. If you pay in one country, you don't need to pay in the other. I will pay U.S. taxes. We have an appt. with our accountant next month, and I have several questions for them to answer on this as well. 💚 Have a blessed evening. ~ Carol Amato
@@TheSicilianLife I consulted an accountant and you pay the country of residence first, then if to owe more in USA you pay that. It is a huge difference in taxes for me if I had to pay normal Italian taxes so I will be moving to a 7% tax town. I have my citizenship in process and hope to be finished next year. Thanks for your videos! They are very informative.
@sandracimino6033, right, but there are a lot of nuances to it depending on how long residency takes, what time of year you arrive, if there is a foreign tax exemption, etc., etc. Oh, that's wonderful, Sandra! Citizenship is so worth the trouble ~ most definitely! 😍 You're very welcome. Glad you enjoy them, and we so appreciate your comments! 💚
I live in Canada.. but I have an Italian passport which I need to renew.. I have this passport through my parents, who were both born in Agrigento. Will this make it easier for me to live in Sicily?
@joegariboli, yes, Italian citizenship will most definitely make it easier to live in Sicily. For one thing, you can stay indefinitely and are not required to leave at any time. Congrats! 😊 Thanks for watching. Blessings, ~ Carol Amato

You can have a foreign address for US tax purposes, credit checks from US treasury. I do my US taxes from my foreign address, as well as voting.
