    Great review! I would just only clamp the seat tube and never the frame.

    I was looking for a reason not to spend money on this. Excellent idea with the bolts. I will definitely use them in two different spots depending upon weather and the device to keep the bars straight is being ordered too.
    Thanks for posting!

    Love your video. Thank you. Bought this and love it. It is nicer than the more expensive one IMO.

      This was a solid purchase for me as well. It's one of those tools that will never go bad and you only need to buy once. Glad you like yours as much as I do mine!

    Woah! Twisting the bikes like that whilst locked into the stand is crazy! Only takes half a turn to loosen the rear clamp then rotate the bike.

    Not a good thang to clamp the top tube.

    I was going to get this but the price and not being able to move it to other spots led me to grabbing the feedback sports stand. I needed something mobile to is as a bike wash. Nice tip though!

    Me and the fiance recently picked up a couple new hardtails and definitely need a stand for future repairs and/or upgrades....but are also dealing with very limited space.
    This looks like it might be the one...just need to wait until payday, lol

    Thanks for the ideas, now to figure out how high to mount it 😀

    • @rgmtb

      Good point! I should have mounted mine higher but the bike rack you see in the video got in the way. I went 43 inches and think at least 50 would have been better.

    Hello my friend, this is a great video and a brilliant idea! I will most definitely be doing this :) Can I just ask- what width of bolts I need for this clamp? I picked up one of these awesome clamps nice and cheap secondhand here in the UK..but without fixings or instructions. The holes are around 11mm..but here in the UK, there are only 10mm and 12mm bolts of this type. Would M10 (10mm) anchor bolts do the job? Many thanks.

    I had this attached to one stud in the garage. Way too much leverage on the stud side to side, so a 2x8 now bridges three studs and T-nuts on the backside allow for removal of the bike stand.

    • @rgmtb
      @rgmtb  2 роки тому

      Yes, I could see how the leverage of this could easily twist that stud around. Sounds like you came up with a great solution in the end!

    Nice seeing your stuff again Gene! I have a 20 year old Park foldable stand that I use, but it doesn't hold as well anymore when I need to tilt the rear end up because of the design they used then. This one could work as a replacement for me but I had a question. Do you have any problems with today's wider bars not clearing the wall behind it?

    • @rgmtb
      @rgmtb  4 роки тому

      I sometimes do and that's why I use the washers to space the stand off the wall just enough. The bars on my ebike are huge and just make it with the washers. If the stand was mounted directly to the wall there would not be enough room. Maybe move it off the wall some with a 2x4 backer?

    • @tomfrantz
      @tomfrantz Рік тому

      @@rgmtb Excellent idea. 2 by 4 backer. Also I have been a general contractor for 30 plus years. Get 3/8 by 2 inch long regular bolts, pretrial behind 2 by four so that the bolt does not scratch wall. chamfer edges or paint wood, and then span 2 by four between two studs. Easy and cheap fix.

    • @tomfrantz
      @tomfrantz Рік тому

      Correction: after reading more comments. A 2 by 8 will have more shear and integrity...

    The Park Tool PRS-4.2-1 is difference style clamp compared to the one you have, the Park Tool PRS-4.2-2. I have the 2 on the folding type stand but I'm ordering a bench mount and trying to decide between this and the other style of clamp. Any thoughts on the 4.2-1?

    Hi, i've just picked up one of these work stands for myself and wondering what bolts you used to mount it to your wall?
    Side note - tell me if i'm wrong, but I don't think you should be clamping onto the dropper post stanchion? Doesn't do it any good.
    Great vid btw!

    • @rgmtb
      @rgmtb  3 роки тому +1

      The bolts are called anchor bolts. I wish I had more details but I just found them at my local hardware store.
      As for hanging your bike from the dropper, here's my rule of thumb on this. I'm ok if the bike is just hanging. What I do is loosen the collar that holds the twisting of the arm. Then I attach the bike and let the weight of the bike set the angle that it hangs. I also tend to not tighten the collar after this is set up either. I just don't want any unneeded lateral stress on the dropper. I'm ok with the hanging weight and have seen multiple bike shops do the same. With this method it's really no different then just hanging the bike from a rack via the seat. The bike is just hanging 👍

    • @yt310yt

    It looks like you are not loosening the pivot handle before rotating the bike…? Weird

    Duuuuude. How are your carbon frames not cracked yet. Seriously the way you were cranking down on the ebike frame 😬😱 you are never meant to clamp the carbon frames in any capacity let alone cranking it down. Ouch

    • @rgmtb
      @rgmtb  3 роки тому

      I've not had a problem with mountain bikes and I don't clamp them down a tight as aluminum. That being said, I might have to look into this more. The seatpost is really the recommended way with a carbon frame but I'm so tight on space in this room. Possibly I have to rethink things. Thanks man 👍

    • @mountainbikemike
      @mountainbikemike 3 роки тому +1

      Bro definitely. If I shared this video on the mechanics trade Facebook page you'll get torn to shreds. Only thing worse than ruining your own bikes is showing the internet how to ruin theirs.
      Seat posts are designed for it. Some aerofoil posts need to be careful with, and droppers need to have a rag around them unless you've made absolutely sure your clamps are debris free and in good nic

    Seems to be a pain to be able to work on both sides of the bike with the wall being right there

    • @rgmtb
      @rgmtb  4 роки тому +1

      It is a bit of a pain but the limited amount of room I have in my space makes this the only option. Even if I crammed a stand up stand in the office, it would be to tight to get behind it so I'd basically be right back here again. So for my needs and keeping this tight, this works stella!
