  • Join me, Suzi Perez, Vinmaps wine lover and cartographer, as I taste through the 2021 Mourvèdre from Dahlman Cellars Winery. In this #winetasting video I also chat a bit about the backstory of the winery and share details about this fascinating red wine grape, called Monastrell and Mataró in its country of origin, Spain. The grapes for this wine were sourced from Columbia Valley's Wahluke Slope AVA (American Viticultural Area) and I describe why this is a great place to grow this dark, thick-skinned grape.
Andrea and Jim Dahlman make their wine at Woodinville Custom Wines while their winery and tasting room reside in Tacoma, Washington State. The Dahlmans are all about community and they have sought out small, family-owned vineyards for source fruit for their wines. This is also why they enjoy having their winery on N. Tacoma Ave, in Tacoma's Stadium District, where there is a fun mix of small businesses, homes, and the beautiful nearby Wright Park and the Seymour Botanical Conservatory. This historic North End neighborhood is also home to the striking architecture of Stadium High School.
If you are in the Puget Sound area I highly recommend visiting Dahlman Cellars Winery and Tasting Room. Check out their website for further information: dahlmancellars...
As well, you may purchase wines from their site, many of which have received accolades and awards.

Thank you so much for watching and for your very kind words Roy! This means a lot to me and the crew here. The Dahlmans have something really special going and it was truly a treat to feature their wine and winery.

New viewer; Nice review of the winery and this small production WA grape/wine. I tried the 100% Mourvedre at Structure Cellars just a couple of blocks down the street from Dahlman where I’m a member and volunteer. It was big and juicy and well balanced as well. I would be interested in your opinion of this wine as well as other somewhat obscure WA varietal wines. 😊😊

Thank you so much for watching! We're so glad you enjoyed the review. It's great that Structure Cellars set up shop in Tacoma in addition to their Seattle location. Sounds like their Mourvedre is also alluring! We'll have to give it a swirl and taste soon. Yes, the more obscure varieties for WA are fascinating to learn more about and taste. Producing the less-grown cultivars can take a leap of faith and courage. 🍇🍷🍷
