I agree this does make sense because i too when i was a kd thought rudy was gonna be one of the top players in the league too. He had the superstar talent. Great size, athleticism, skill, he had everything. I was so excited when my raptors traded for him he seemed to be the superstar we needed. Ironically trading him lead to forming our championship core that went on to compete in playoffs for years on end. The issue with rudy is exactly this, he was a selfish player. He got tunnel vision when he played for us. I remember one play where there was fast break with him and demar running up the court. Demar was open up the court but rather then rudy passing the ball he took a shot that missed n could see demar visibly upset. He also had a game where he took 37 shots think scored like 14 dnt remember the exact details then he banned everyone from looking at the stats in the locker room after game. Rudy had the talent just wasn’t a playmaker and chased stats over playing winning basketball

Then I watch his Toronto/Memphis highlights and I just wanted to see him on a winning team so bad since then. He was in what he called “his worst shooting slump of his career” then he tore his acl. You don’t need him to be on it the whole game. You just need him to finish it. Sometimes coaching plays a factor. Memphis was no nonsense so they got him up outta there since there was no need to replace him. Toronto got him outta there because he was injury prone and a liability on defence. However , so was the entire raptors squad besides Kyle Lowry . He would have fit well elsewhere
