nice to finally see an NHL player discussing the wrist shot in detail! I did a video on how to take a wristshot (in my channel) basically the same info as Cammalleri! I'll be adding a lot more videos so feel free to subscribe if you want lots of hockey tips.
He takes his shots with his toe, and in more of a snapping motion. This is a tough way to learn how to shot. If anyone is new to hockey, or trying to improve their shot then check out our channel. We have a bunch of videos on how to improve hockey skills. The channel is dedicated to helping hockey players improve!
Played goalie in Chicago (Center Ice) during the NHL lockout many years ago. Some NHLers came out--and their game is bloody insane. Their wristers were faster than most of the slappers from the regulars, many of whom were college players.
i can honestly say as a goalie one of the toughest types of shots to save is one that is released fast. if you catch a goalie by surprise accuracy and speed sometimes dont matter.
HAHHAHAHAH! @ 1:12 Classic hockey character - NEVER miss a chance to mess with the G's mind!!! And great instructional clip - hellofa top shelf shot! Thanks!
When you shoot like that you kind of dig the toe of your blade into the ice, causing more resistance then a normal shot. This generates more flex on the shaft of the stick when your doing those quick release snap shots. You will notice that when you shoot from the toe of your blade like that that you feel more of a "pop" when you shoot.
@therubixman Yeah, it's a wooden coffee blade (banana curve) in a warrior AK27 shaft. I kind of start with the puck on th toe and let it roll to the middle then back to the toe as I shoot and I can hit the glass at the other end of the rink with a wrist shot.
I love the easton cammalleri blade. Although its really confusing, because it was the zetterberg, and before that it was the forsberg. There was also the shannahan, which was renamed the cammalleri, then discontinued.
Interesting technique to watch in this video at 2:08: • Pulls the puck close to his body. • Weights the stick so it bends (like compressing a spring) • Follows through to the target area. • Does not close the blade.
a wrist shot is not only on the stick but u also got to have strong wrists especially to shoot a puck in that velocity one way to exercise ur wrists to get stronger would be squeezing a tennis ball as many times as you can trust me u will have a stronger wrist.
@holobalobalo "I can hit the glass at the other end of the rink with a wrist shot." From where? From centre ice or D blue line? Awesome! Post that on UA-cam and I'll be impressed.
in his defense, those were probably 70mph shots from pretty close range and then even faster when he really started whipping them at him - but i agree haha at least take a guess and fully commit on one side lol
ok well check it out, I brought your comment up to a good friend of mine who I grew up playing hockey with. now he said have a look at how wendel clark shoots he invented the snap shot.
@802wolves haha i already seen that. "I'm kinda involved in the consulting and promotional level." Sounds like a sponsorship to me. But whatever man, owner or not, Cammalleri's a beast
You players, keep practicing your wrist shots. You'll score the majority of your goals with it. All the greats, from Howie Morenz to Rocket Richard to Gordie Howe to Bobby Hull to Phil Esposito to Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux, all had hard and accurate wrist shots.
you dont have to lift shit when you're taking a snap shot. all there needs to be is you literally snap the puck and you should hear your stick hitting the ice thats when you know you have a good power behind your snap
Guys i need some advice i use a 100 flex stick and can't seem to get a rocket with a wrist shot. I get a decent one standing still but i'm not sure if it's a confidence issue or a technique issue. Upper body strength is not an issue. Should i get a flexier stick or what??
Ben Walker maybe try a softer flex because if your stick is too stiff you won't be able to load your stick and if it's too soft you will loose power try taking your bodyweight in pounds and divide it into 2 and you can go higher or lower depending on your preference
Day 1 of looking for babagege's comment. I'm not an idiot so I clicked see all, pressed ctrl+f and typed in "babagege". It literally took under 20 seconds.
@marcusbondi From the D zone hash marks I can actually shoot it over the glass. Making a video would be a bit of a hassel since the only time I get open ice is before practices and I don't think the coaches would appreciate me bringing video equipment onto the ice to make a youtube video. Don't know how I would explain that to people, lol But I play on a Tier II Junior B team that's currently undefeated at 16-0 and I'm sure plenty of the guys on my team could hit the glass from there too.
@wholefnshow1 Kovy has one of the nicest wristers in the league, I can't definitaley say Cammy's is faster or more accurate, but he definately let's them go faster. The other better shots would probably be Kovalchuk and Ovi... other than that... hmmm...
How to find peoples comments: Step 1. Go to view all comments Step 2. Press ctrl+f Step 3. Type in the name of the person you want to find This just saved you hours of searching for comments, your welcome!
@Chekkogrnteam If you already knew you don't have to write something. I've got a few thumbs up, so it must obviously have helped some people, which was the goal of the comment.
Let me explain something. Nobody that don't know a lot about computer or even just know the really basic stuff will ever do '' Control+F '' and understand why and when he could probably use it. If you don't know how to do something, you'll probably ask someone, and if the person is nice, most of the time, you'll get your answer. Besindunken helped 65 and + people. But if everytime you don't know something and there's an idiot that tell you that you're stupid, there's a reason to lose faith...
He forgot one important lesson he uses. If you can't score on those wrist shots, tell people your team is losers and hope to be traded mid-game. A scorer not scoring blaming everything on his team. Hope the door didn't hit you on the way out.

I love Camma, wish he was in the pens. Enjoy his great character and ability Habs, what a great guy :D

I'm only three years old, I use a 246 flex, and my wrist shot is over 350mph.
WhatTheFlyinFudge 😂😂😂
mike c is amazing
Mike Cammalleri is a great player. I wish he was still on the Kings.
i can honestly say as a goalie one of the toughest types of shots to save is one that is released fast. if you catch a goalie by surprise accuracy and speed sometimes dont matter.

this somehow made me realise how crazily talented goalies in the nhl are
@therubixman Yeah, it's a wooden coffee blade

@802wolves ..not only that...he does a special acupuncture treatment before a game...juts for his body to be as ready and relaxed as he wants it.
This was a SICK STICK
@GuitarGuru1125 He owns part of the company and helps with the research and development. Not just a sponsor.

Damn....this was when he was still with the flames....man the memories
@holobalobalo "I can hit the glass at the other end of the rink with a wrist shot."

I like the chariots of fire by vangelis in the middle
Got the same stick but a righty, great stick

that flex though
lol Gaudreau uses a 55
Thorvald Bean I'm 12 and I use 60-70 😂
So difference between wristers and snapshots are wristers come from further back?
@Andragon90 That's why he's one of my favorite players. I'm 5'9" and he's motivation for me.
@holobalobalo that happens to me too, is the curve more towards the toe?
@Lew1826 the video is "how to PERFECT the wrist shot." i like to watch these videos to see if i have the same technique.
@GuitarGuru1125 Watch "your canadiens-michael cammalleri" and skip to 14:50 you'll understand what I mean by partial owner
@babagege yes, because we all want to be like you
@zKiLLzHDz I believe command+f does the same thing :)
@SkaterJacob14 still, 65 is either for 10 yr olds or a 12 yr old who wants a whip like phil kessel
ok well check it out, I brought your comment up to a good friend of mine who I grew up playing hockey with. now he said have a look at how wendel clark shoots he invented the snap shot.
@802wolves Don't know where you found that info bud. But I cant find a single thing saying he's partial owner.
aha nice cammalleri does have a gud shot no doubt about that =) !!!
0:59 God what a flex.
@802wolves haha i already seen that. "I'm kinda involved in the consulting and promotional level." Sounds like a sponsorship to me. But whatever man, owner or not, Cammalleri's a beast

kovalev's slapshots are just saucer passes.he flips them,and he scores a lot

soooo.. this would have no effect on an oldfashion wooden stick?
Day 1 of looking for babagege's comment. I'm not an idiot so I clicked see all, pressed ctrl+f and typed in "babagege". It literally took under 20 seconds.
Hey u play with Calgary Flames I'm from Edmonton
Spread the message!
The awkward moment when your "Great Shot" is a 40MPH slapshot.
@marcusbondi From the D zone hash marks I can actually shoot it over the glass. i lol'd at 2:08-2:20
@Stanley6869 easton synergy elite they dont make em anymore
@GueorguiJoukov what kinda flex does that for you
there is no way in hell that you shoot almost as hard as Steven Stamkos. I'm calling bullshit.
the color red blue and white suits him better xD
@emakmakak Agreed
Day 12. Journal entry 24. Still on the search for babagege's comment. I'm running low on food and water. Tell my mom I love her.
i'm not saying i'd do better, but this guy's reaction was wayyyy behind haha! nice shots cammy!
@ImNewToThis100 yeah but buddy
im 5'2 i use a regular 65 but i cut it down
@wholefnshow1
Kovy has one of the nicest wristers in the league, I can't definitaley say Cammy's is faster or more accurate, but he definately let's them go faster. The other better shots would probably be Kovalchuk and Ovi... other than that... hmmm...

My hockey gloves! damn cammalleri, you copycat =D
damn 80 flex? my INT stick is cut down to a 80 flex thats insane
yea my still has a 95 flex and I am not a tough guy so no wonder how I have trouble with the wrist shot.
@Arror69 well if you play in the whl why are you looking up how to shoot a wrist shot?
@eggwhite6 good for you.
The last shot was a laser.
@SkaterJacob14 I use a 100 flex
this goalie ain't bad
babagege just talked about how his shot is better than cammalleri's lol
@Chekkogrnteam If you already knew you don't have to write something. I've got a few thumbs up, so it must obviously have helped some people, which was the goal of the comment.
im 16, use a 72 flex and my good slapper is probably a little over 80 mph
on the right top of the section you actually write the comment in!
@KRug47 100 percent true
@802wolves hes sponsored by biosteel. not his company
lol "now I'm shooting a little bit harder on him".
@crosbykiller101 you beat camalleri?
@reecejohnson47 wooden sticks do flex
@babagege sure big guy
For some reason my shot is 100X harder when I shoot from the toe of the blade instead of the heel. Dunno why.
amazing...somehow he makes it look so simple, but i can only get my wrist shots like 5 mph and 2 inches in the air. practice makes perfect, eh?
I WANNA SEE THIS WITH STAMKOS.
@llamakiller1234 thanks
i use 85 flex i'm 5'11 180 pounds and i'm playing in the WHL
@stew918
Ya, the only problem is that he can only use it about 10 times a year... the rest of the time, he's in crutches.
@Lew1826 yeah? do you know me? don't assume anything.
@bensindunken i have a mac...
The first highlight at 0:10 isn't even a wrist shot, he just slapped at the puck..

hes taking snap shots
go flames
I did finish all my classes, so yup. If you're going to tell me that you did one, I can tell you that there's no hyperbole in what you wrote to me.
fint navn du har:)
@DrunkenLeprechaunPro Don't forget Gaborik. I'd put his at the top.
He forgot one important lesson he uses. If you can't score on those wrist shots, tell people your team is losers and hope to be traded mid-game. A scorer not scoring blaming everything on his team. Hope the door didn't hit you on the way out.
I was cammaleri was still in la
I use a 95 flex and I'm 12 !
@datsyuk134life I did and i found nothing he probably was talking about his slapshot which in that case is more believable
But theres no ctrl botton on iPads :(
who cares anymore, youtube made their own solution to the problem
I love you.
Damn, probably need a 85 flex, not a 95 for that. xD
this sounds more like an advertisement than a tutorial.
