    I like the design of the Amaran cob 60 better, b/c it doesn't need a custom battery (I can use my own NP-F batteries). However I don't like the uneven spotlight/hot-spot dispersion with the Amaran. Otherwise, I think using an awkward, full size diffuser (shown on some channels), semi-defeats the purpose of the compact/portable size of these small lights--especially if you use these outside. Perhaps something else finds its way on the market later. Great video. Thx!

    I was shopping just yesterday, so this video is timely. Thanks!
    Note that Zhiyun actually has the X60-RGB and the X60 bi-color available. This latter offers the advantages of the RGB version (ie battery powered) with the output power close to the G60. This is the direction I am leaning.

    1. Classy navy blue wall there
    2. Is the battery from the X60 usable on the X100?
    3. Can the Aputure Spotlight/SE mount used here?

      Thanks, I'm loving the new office look :D
      The battery is rated for the 60w light, so it wouldn't last long on the x100.
      You can use it with the bowens mount adapter. I didn't try that out yet to see what it looks like, but since it has the blending glass on the front of the lens I don't see it having any issues.

    Wow looks like the x100 issue is worse in the x60. Your readings show the light is actually dimmed to 18% when it says 1%, which is very bright for a minimum brightness. The x100 has the same issue where 1% is actually 13% power and it looks like the g60 is slightly better in your test dimming down to 6% power at 1%. Sad to see Zhiyun has made this issue even worse in these newer lights. This can be a real problem when you need to dim the light low and can't.

    • @FellowFilmmaker
      @FellowFilmmaker  9 місяців тому

      It has to do with it being a bi-color light. Because it is mixing it often will be brighter at lower power because it needs to have the added brightness to be more accurate of a light due to needing to mix the color diodes properly. So it is trading dimness for color accuracy, something people generally care about more I'd say.

    • @noahyv
      @noahyv 9 місяців тому

      @@FellowFilmmaker well not exactly. More like it probably has to do with low precision (8bit?) dimming. Plenty of other cheap bicolor lights like the Aputure 200x/100x and Molus g200 have no trouble dimming down to actual 1% power. I've accepted this unfortunate limitation of the smaller Zhiyun lights though it does cause problems since a lot of low key interior lighting situations call for low output and fine adjustment. I often have to waste the light to dim it on interiors that aren't lit to day int levels.
      Thanks for testing the 1% output, since this is a really important data point for anyone considering these lights. I think this is the 4th x60rgb review I watched and yours was the only one that tested this critical feature of the light. The other reviewers who tested only 10% or didn't check that 1% readout actually meant 1% power should really follow your lead. Any time I test a light I always check actual power at 100%, 50%, 10% and 1% to get a good sense of the dimming curve and limits since readouts and specs cannot really be trusted often.

    Hello Heather, thank you for another great video. Looking at iFootage Anglerfish and the recently upgraded Amaran "S" COBs, I wonder what the SSI (D56) value of these Zhiyun lights is. It appears that two companies are focused on SSI values, while most other brands focus on reducing the light size. Do you think the higher SSI values matter? For me, portability is not an issue. Thank you for all the work you put into your great channel!

    To be honest, idk why everyone talk about their batteries.
    I travel a lot with the all filming things, basically go to the every esports event, and film podcasts and shows with players.
    I use G60 with light dome mini 2 with 65w powerbank for 40k mah, and it basically gives almost 2 hours on 70-80%.
    You can use this option, or just use smaller powerbank and it will be much usefull than that batterie or any vmount one.

    Hi there, I am a bit confused. What is the different between the X60 Bi-Color (Daylight, Tungsten) and the new X60 RGB (RGB, Daylight, Tungsten)? Is the price tag of 70.- more for the RGB version worthy? What is your suggestion? Many thanks

    Oooooh, that rgb 60 looks tasty, about to pull the plug on some kind of light to compliment the DIY racket I built and made a video about some months ago - it still holds up bit I need *moooore* - question is, will the 60 with a larger softbox provide enough light to do slomo b-roll (type 100fps) indoors as the main light source from above, I’m thinking I need something in the 100-120 watt range at least, maybe even more, so hard to know not having anything to base the decision off of - also not sure if the power supply comes with a switchable plug for EU-power, kinda hard to tell from the product page on amazon - gonna have to do some research, thanks for the thorough run down :)

    • @FellowFilmmaker
      @FellowFilmmaker  9 місяців тому +1

      Yes you'll need a much brighter light. If you're shoot 100fps you can probably get away with a 100-200w light. I doubt you'll want an RGB unless you need the color, but then you're losing output. So I'd say get gels and use a daylight only light to get the most output for your money.

      @@FellowFilmmaker thanks :) was kind of expecting that :) But that versatility and size though, I’m probably gonna be able to find some uses for it as a secondary light for some stuff (not trying to justify getting it *at all* ;)

    What I find annoying about the X is that you are forced to buy an adapter to direct the light. While the G solves that with a simple metal part so you can swivel vertically and direct the light. Or just adding more weight with the Bowens Mount Adapter. And the portable batteries really don't last long. Like, 40 Min tops.

    • @FellowFilmmaker
      @FellowFilmmaker  9 місяців тому

      Good point.
      To the point on the battery, it lasts 40 min if you are at full power, otherwise you can get more time out of it.

    That battery attached looks so awkward and inelegant. Its like they made this really tinght, cool looking light and then you gotta attach this frankenstein battery that doesn't look made for it at all. Weird. Also doesn't look particularly good for weight distribution either. I dunno, the small and compact marketing feels a bit off. That g60 though, what a great design.

  • @SimeonKolev
    @SimeonKolev 9 місяців тому +1

    So this X60 is actually not a 60W light :). I wonder why they give the specs in this way. You can never use 60W with it, the COB is containing RGB and 6500K+2700K diodes. Which means that if we make a guess by looking at the output - 35-40W for 2700-6500K and around 20W for RGB chips with the Blue ones being the weakest.
    It is one thing to say for example Amaran 60D and 60X are 60W lights which is again wrong if you ask me but here they are making it even more misleading because you are not getting even close to 60W bicolor light power.
    Also why so small.. ok it looks fancy but the battery is bigger and sticking out anyways, if they make the chip stick out more the cooling will be better and maybe we can have a normal bowens mount.
    Also why selling it with all the small and pointless extras and not having a combo with just the bowens adapter?
    Also again they are missing something - a spot modifier. GVM have a very cool little light that is formed like a torch and has this option which is very needed for a COB type of light...

    • @FellowFilmmaker
      @FellowFilmmaker  9 місяців тому

      Fair points to bring up.
      For the 60w thing, that has to do with electrical consumption and output. While true you don't get a 60w output of an RGB it's there for other purposes. I agree it's a bit challenging when you don't know that.
      The size is attractive to those who aren't using the battery, like myself. I love it for studio and tight set situations.
      Bowens adapter could have been in the combo, I agree.
      Maybe they'll make a modifier soon :D

    The video is not about the question in the title: "Is bicolor BETTER than RGB light?", but about whether device 1 is better than device B. It's just completely random that one is RGB and the other is bicolor. You learn absolutely nothing about bicolor vs. RGB. Ultimately, it's just a product placement video.
