This episode caused some confusion and some dissention when it originally aired. The season 6 opener aired about 9 months after the Season 5 finale. It wasn't clear to some people that 1 week had transpired in the show's timeline.
This confusion over the timeline plays into the dissention. There were a number of fans who were upset with the way David was treating Alexis. However many of those same fans were pissed at Alexis during the season 5 finale with how insensitive and dismissive she was behaving towards David's engagement news. They had forgotten how upset they were with her behavior.
Only a week has past and Alexis had continued to behave that way and put on a show of how happy she was to go join Ted. She was so wrapped up in hiding her doubts and anxieties about leaving that she ends up making David feel slighted and hurt. Here is the most important thing to ever happen to him and all he can see is Alexis acting like her pre-Schitt's Creek self. He wasn't acting like a bridezilla. He was punishing her for hurting him..

Good question, I dont think they get rent, and I would imagine any rates payments or taxes would go to the town and not to someone as a profit.
In fact I dont know how someone "owns" a town at all lol
I worked in a couple of slaughterhouses when I was younger and I can tell you that the pigs don't make that much noise. I mean, you put a bolt through their brain so they kind of quit talking or squealing or moving. Sorry to be so descriptive 🙂
