Great review, it was very fair in showing both the pros and cons of a drawing tablet. I had no idea what a parallax effect was before I watched your video, so it was very informative for me. :)
Got one open box for 100 bucks on Amazon from a birthday gift card, best decision I made. I did notice the downsides toy mentioned someone's but I found that it was a good overall tradeoff, more or less. I don't have the money to get more expensive tablets yet, and I'm not professional by any means. I'll eventually upgrade but actually using it and upgrading from a non screen tablet was life changing
Hi, I'm thinking abou getting the open box too, how did your table arrive? Did it come in the original box with all the accessories? Did it have many scratches? Did you have the same problems? This would be my first screen tablet but I'm debating whether to get the open box Gaomon pd1161 or the Xp-pen artist 12 or Huion kamvas pro 12 for 80-100 euros more. I'm broke too lol
@@didi7074 only thing mine didn't come with was the glove and matte feel screen protector, but everything else was good to go! Works great, I'm still using it
@@SocksworthRiffs I already have a glove so no problem! I'm just worried about the matte screen protector because then there's nothing to protect the screen? And without it it's glossy and slippery :/
You may be calibrating it wrong. While calibrating you have to keep your head in the spot it would be while actually drawing. It's natural to want to move your head directly above each calibration point, but that would obviously make the calibration askew.
Hi! Very great review. I'm very tempted to get this one as my first display tablet, I've been using an ipad so far so I'm used to the small size, so the small screen aside, do you think I should go with this one, or a huion?
I’m getting my first job in a couple of days, and I’m looking to save for my own tablet. I’ll do some more research, this is currently on my consideration list. My other is xp-pen 13.3 or whatever it is.
Same. Just got my first job too and my first pay, and also considering to buy this or an xp-pen artist 12/13.3. It's hard though since I'm too scared to buy from other countries so my options are very limited.
I had the GAOMON PD1560 and I didn't like it tbh. I gave it away. These days I use a huion HS610 without a screen, I really love the surface of it. Drawing on glass, with that seperation and just I dunno it feels even more unnatural than a screenless tablet does for me. Also, when drawing on a screen, I have an ipad pro and procreate, it's an awesome experience but I don't recommend it for very high resolution work.
Thank you for mentioning the drivers working. The current tablet I'm using atm was doing great until suddenly the driver no longer, worked and I've searched and attempted many times to fix it but I couldn't get it to connect 😅
maybe he does. i draw traditionally on a sketchbook every day (i alternate between my sketchbook and display tablet during the day) but i dont want drawing distortions and i cannot crane my neck because it will cause pain, so i have a laptop stand that i put my notebook on when i draw. it keeps the notebook in the right position, which is parallel to my face just like he said
The baseline for traditional art is literally an easel lol (thats even disregarding how 98% of pro traditional artists have angled tables which I forget what are called: from Disney animators to comic artists) Drawing on a completely flat surface creates distortions and is very uncomfortable for prolonged periods of time
@@someguy752 It's a copy of the main screen with pen sensitive surface, which you can draw on.I just ordered one and it does say pretty clearly on the aliexpress listing that you can use it both ways, as a duplicate or showing different things. Been struggling with the parallax on mine. Tried to fiddle with the calibration but the driver kept crashing. Good drivers would help these cheap tablets tremendously.
Mine came and the screen was horrendous quality and it was borderline unusable. I'm not sure if it was because I ordered off Amazon and got a fake or if gaomon is just bad.
i started with Huion inspiroy h320m, it can be connected with an android too. its about P2000+ (Philippine peso) idk how much for the us dollar so...:)
Huion if you want a screenless one tbh. It's a great starting point. Just saying that because some folks feel the need to spend like hundreds or even thousands on a tablet when just starting- but tablets don't always last forever if you are gonna wear one out learning, I suggest a cheap tablet. Think in terms of study tablet, and career tablet imo.
@@didi7074 yeah, i got it used and its steal very good. i recommend it if youre on a budget. it works well in most art softwares like photoshop, and more. the animation is also very clean with it.
Does this require a computer? I’m looking for an art tablet that doesn’t need a computer. Want to try all the brushes and art systems... but most of these tablets must have a computer.
It is the best option to have an iPad than, because then you don’t need the computer and you can use procreate or some other painting app for the iPad🙂
Do you like traditional art ? I know you do. So can you make a tutorial on blending bullet tip Alcohol marker ? It imposes much difficulty and so nobody makes a tutorial on it. But I know you would.
Well, if the Wacom Bamboo Fun took you from amateur to pro, this tablet/drawing display can do the same for someone else, despite the 2 big gripes you mentioned in the review. This can be a really good investment for a beginner or anyone with a really small budget that wants a drawing *display* tablet. 🤷🏻♂️

Was the screen on this tablet fully laminated? If not, that would explain the parallax problem...

Is it basically just a second monitor? And can you do something else on the 1st monitor while you're drawing on the tablet?
