Haha! I am a nurse and can’t tell you how much I love your story about not becoming a nurse. I’ve wavered on starting and fully launching my business a lot. I’m much older than you and think I feel like I just am too late? I don’t know. But I’m sending you all the amazing launch energy and passion and excitement!! I hope it’s everything you dream of.

Not too late! Why too late? I don't get it. Age is just a number. Unless it's too exhausting. Then do less and keep it simple.

we are never to late to start the beginning of our dreams! Go chase your dream - its calling for you! It time for you. I get it- I work in the medical filed now extremely part-time- as a travel Nursing Assistant- changed my career focus completely and gave me more time. I work as needed for me in the medical field and work fulltime for my local school district- and love what I do. have learned to take care of me.

I'm 45 and starting over again. I can understand your concern, I have it too. But I say to myself, "if not now, when?" If you have something in mind, I say slowly start it on the side. Best of luck!!

You haveeeee to do the artists way or at least read some of Julia Cameron’s work! She talks a lot about pursuing dreams later in life and it is so encouraging 🤍 you got this! Also, thank you so much for your work as a nurse - it is such an important and challenging job! You are amazing!

No! You're not too late! I went back to school at 35, launched my first business at 37, my second at 39, started my third at 48 and sold my second at 49. All of them were/are in the creative arts. It's a crap ton of very hard work but it's 100% possible and there are 100s of different ways to run a successful small business that jives with your life - as long as you truly love what you're doing!

I have some tips and tricks for stickers! I print mine on printable sticker vinyl and then put them on the green 12x12 cricut mat. I put a self laminating sheet over top of it but I put it directly over the black lines. I just do the full sheet of laminate, i’ve found that it’s the best way to make sure the cricut cuts it correctly! when you put the laminate on, squeegee it but definitely use a squeegee with felt on it! it doesn’t scratch the laminate. in cricut design space, I make my stickers with print to cut and when I cut it, I cut them on the light chipboard 0.37mm :)

Great video! I don’t have everything figured out but I’ll share what I do know.
I don’t print my stickers at home but I found that scrapbooking/archival ink pads dry fast and don’t smudge, no matter what I stamp them on. I have an art supply thrift store near me so I was able to get them for a steal but, if that’s not around you, maybe keep an eye out for Michael’s or similar sales.
Bookmarks- I have a canon pixma and I can’t run thick enough cardstock through it to make bookmarks stiff. Some folks laminate theirs but I bought bookmark pockets that extend into a triangle up top where I can also add a tassel. No one at my booth has commented negatively on that.
As far as printing goes, I used double sided matte photo paper and got great colors.
Double sided- it’s gonna take some trial and error. I recommend printing on black and white draft mode and using cheap copy paper until you get it right. For my canon, I load the cardstock into the back manual feed. When it comes out, I flip it by rotating the long edge to the right. Then, reinsert into that back tray.
On the computer side, I don’t have it perfect but it’s manageable. I set up the front how I want. Then, I copy that same template and throw my backs on. The backs need to be a bit bigger than the fronts but a pattern would work well here. The back images need to be flipped upside down (vertical flip) and then flipped horizontally so my text prints ok.
I still get smidges of misalignment but I cut using the front as a guide and since the backs are larger, you don’t notice 😅. If it helps to see an image or the template I use, feel free to shoot me an email. It’s LaPrimaNerda (at) gmail.

You've totally got this! You keep saying your 2016 business failed but I don't think it did. I think it was a success for what it was. Look at how much it set you up for success this time around, right? I watched this as I worked on my own sticker business launch (not there yet.... but getting closer) THANK YOU for the idea of stamping the back of the stickers!! I got a stamp last week and for some reason never even considered stamping the backs of stickers.
Hand cut sticker gang rise up!
Wishing you all the luck with your relaunch!

Your printer does double sided printing. You have to choose that in the settings. You would also want to laminate the book marks. And make one side with the design a full print covering the entire sheet and do the side with the logo as individual designs on the page. Then you won't have to worry about each side lining up.

Hi Eryn, maybe you can print your logo as a repeating pattern on the back of the sticker paper so you don't have to stamp every sticker and wait for them to dry. More sustainable in the long run and saves you more time.

OMG yes! I can so agree with cutting the stickers by hand. I have had so many issues that takes a whole day to get working with either cutting wrong or not coming out as planned.
I have had my small business for a few years too and cutting them by hand (even though it's tedious) I find makes it better. Yeah sure some even come out not as I planned, but the aren't as much if I do it with the cricut cut.
I need to get myself back to get myself back on track with my small business. I have also felt the lack of confidence and losing my way with my art.
Happy you got your business back on track. you have some amazing art and wish you the best!

When you said you didn't want to keep making edits to a logo for days I felt that on an absolute spiritual level. I have been a graphic designer for 7 years and that is the exact reason I am deciding to completely overhaul my business, too. It really does take the heart and soul out of creative work to keep nitpicking like that. I found your channel because I am also doing The Artist's Way this year and I feel like we're on very similar paths. Best of luck with your relaunch!! When I apply the laminate to my sticker sheets, it's helpful to use a ruler to apply it instead of my Cricut scraper. Since it helps to apply a little pressure all the way across the page, there are less opportunities for bubbles! Wishing you all the best!

Relating to the sticker cutting on a cricut… I originally bought my cricut for making stickers a few years ago and I was never able to get it cut them properly. They were always cut wonky and misaligned. No amount of calibration helped and it actually made it worse each time. I saw a lot of people having this issue so when I saw a sale last year for the sister Juliet machine for half price, I did a little bit of research and bought one. It was one of the best decisions as I have never had an issue with the sister Juliet that wasn’t because I loaded the blade incorrectly or didn’t do a quick test cut for depth. Anyway… I wish you luck on your art journey and hope you find great success and more importantly, that you continue to love what you are doing.

Hi Eryn. Congrats on your relaunch and keep going strong! As for your bookmarks - not sure if this is the issue but it happened to me - when you’re printing on both sides set the DUPLICATE to ‘flip on short edge’ for landscape and ‘flip on long edge’ for portrait. Also line all your bookmarks up equal distance from each side of the paper (if you fold the paper in half they should match) and duplicate that page for the back side, with B side art, and it should line up properly when you print. If you leave an outline area for ‘bleed’ then you have some wiggle room if it’s not 100% exact. Good luck and big love from Texas! ❤️ Ursula

For your cricut mats, when they are new, they are too sticky. So you need to kind of dull them. This sounds weirder than it is: adhere a t-shirt to the mat and then pull it off. Do this once or twice. It will make the mat slightly less tacky and make it possible to remove things. Also, when you go to remove things, bend the mat not the product. I learned how to use a cricut from Jennifer Maker, so maybe the older videos on her channel will help you too. Good luck!

I had the same issue with the cutting mat being super sticky, I saw a video where someone used a microfiber cloth and just blotted the mat a but so it wasn't so sticky.
Another tip for bookmarks, cause I had the same issue lol but I saw someone print their design, then in the program procreate ,illustrator or w.e you use, put the design upside down. On the paper you printed on the first time, flip it like your flipping a page in a book. Then feed it back through. Hopefully these work for you. Wishing you the best of luck ❤️

I watch Fructus Illustrations too! Do you also watch Katnipp? Yeah, use your green cut mat but be aware that the first one will be super sticky so maybe cut something on cardboard like backing cards on it first to unstick it a bit.

I hate the roughness that the fiskars cutter leaves on the edges. The chopper style trimmers aren't any better because I used a very expensive one at work and if you put more than a few pages in to trim, it squishes while cutting on the side further from the hing, so you end up with the pages being slightly larger at the bottom. I saw someone use a metal ruler and an exacto knife so I'll be trying that instead. Might go faster too if the cuts just have to be straight and not as precise.

I feel the sticker problems my circuit which is super old the first one that came out it never cuts the stickers right as it goes down the page they get more and more off so I switched to the silhouette instead but the problem with the sticky mat problem you have to make the mat less sticky or buy less sticky mats!

  • @creatticpt
    @creatticpt Місяць тому

The mat are right, the blue is the less sticky, but they are new so is a little bit sticky. 😂

For the lamination step of the process, tape your sticker sheet to your table/desk (on four sides - not the corners) so it doesn't move when you apply the lamination sheet.

If you put your sticker paper through your printer with branding on it, I've heard you can just print on the 'label' side of your sticker, then you print them as stickers like usual.

Find “Sunshine Lane” I believe her name is. She sticker her stickers.
Find “Prints by Milly” she says to put your sheet down on the sticker sheet. Then, use matte scotch tape on top of the reading marks. That way you don’t have to cut down the laminate sheet.

I am not much of a commenter or a "yass queen" girl. I don't even know why I watched this video tbh. But I think you're cute and realistic. I made an order. Your ghosties of the valley are cute.
For the printer, I always take the paper and put a big arrow on it and print a draft print so I know exactly how to load it. You may need to make a front file and a back file so you can manipulate them to face the right way based on printing. That's what I would do.
    Anyway. Happy for you.

Congratulations! You’re very talented & will do amazing with your re-launch!!!! If you don’t mind sharing - which Epson printer are you using? It looks similar to mine, but yours looks like a higher model. I just bought a new one and I’m not loving it as much as I thought I would, maybe it’s human error LOL. This is my 3rd printer and I love how your prints came out. Thank you for sharing your journey XO 🌺🌼🏵

There's 121 comments on this atm so I don't know if you got the suggestion, but try using a spatula to lift your stickers off of the mat, OR turn the mat upside down and buckle it so the stickers lift off the mat. Your mat is too new. Once you use it and it loses stick it'll get easier. For the back of your stickers, if you're making printable vinyl stickers than it's likely the backing is silicone coated or coated with a material that repels ink. You can probably put another sticker on it, but you can't print on it. Trust me. I've put my paper in the wrong way a few times by accident and it creates a MESS.

BTW I notice that your link to your site isn't clickable on your youtube description - you have to add: before the www. and then it should highlight blue and be clickable. You'd be surprised how many people wouldn't copy/paste it into their browser.
