FYI - As I have not seen any UA-cam tips on solving this lack of water issue speak to the simplest of potential fixes. An air lock can occur that prevents the flow of water when the pump engages, and it's often solved by simply pouring a pitcher of water into the drain of your dishwasher. This is most likely to be the case if you encounter this problem after having shut off your hot water for other reasons. We just had to shut ours off for a repair to the water line from our gas hot water heater, and when we turned it back on and went to run the dishwasher, the lights came on and we could here the hum of the pump motor, yet no water began to flow. One pitcher of water down the dishwasher drain and presto, it was running like a charm again. May you be this lucky too!
Thank you! I tried everything from replacing a relatively new inlet valve to buying a new float switch. After those didn't seem to produce results. I took your advice and simply poured water down the dishwasher drain. It worked! If only I saw this sooner! At least I have extra parts I guess. Anyways, much appreciated bit of knowledge you passed on. Life-saver!
Have this same dishwasher with the same problem. The float was there but it was stuck in the up position as my wife actually did this when a spoon went underneath the float. Thanks a million for this video!
I wasted a few hours stuck on figuring this out and was certain it was the linlet valve. Eventually just wiggled the over-flow switch and it was stuck on. What a great time.
I loved all the troubleshooting steps and explaining as you went through it. I am still learning all this stuff myself as an Assistant Property Manager so videos like this help me feel much more confidence with the maintenance work and getting rid of that imposter syndrome. Thank you for the videos
Thank You SO MUCH 🎉 FANTASTIC 🎉 Just pulled off my float cap …… All kinds of “ black-debris “ like charred corrugated or plastic or organic debris/ spider nesting (?) ….. but hard and flakey ….. like thicker burned paper ?? Any ideas 💡 ???? On what/why this is ? Dishwasher hasn’t been used in 9 months and is 2 years old . I so appreciate Your help !!!! 🥳🇺🇸🎉 Brian
@MrDelasancha1 yes. I watched another video where you buy a small sink plunger. You take out the filter. You fill the drain hole with water and go at it with the plunger. It started working and still to this day. Here's the video. ua-cam.com/video/P_ca8E0Jzk4/v-deo.htmlsi=URCmBT8EC6D_BTea
Priced a new dish washer, $400 on sale. Wiggled my float switch on my Kenmore and now its back working 😀 Thank you.

When you say dishwasher drain, do you mean pouring water inside the dishwasher?
Have this same dishwasher with the same problem. The float was there but it was stuck in the up position as my wife actually did this when a spoon went underneath the float. Thanks a million for this video!

Thank you!!! I really appreciate the information you provided, that was the problem. Can’t thank you enough ❤️
Dude, thank you so freaking much for this! I’m not much with appliances but this cured my issue!
I'm glad you were able to get it fixed!
I have the same dishwasher.. Suddenly there's no power on it.. I checked the circuit breaker..
How can I check the power outlet???
Nice job Dave 👍🏼
Thanks Evan 🛠
Good troubleshooting bro...I would of never used the diagram but that's smart...
Thanks Benjamin!!
Viki, the tapping of the float with a wooden spoon did not work. Not sure I can do the rest of the procedure in the video.
Thank You SO MUCH 🎉

I pulled up on it thinking it would separate, well it did now it doesn’t seat back into the switch. A replacement cap should fix it?
I don't know what model dishwasher you have as there are thousands out there. Everyone I've dealt with just slides back on though
Great video !!! thanks
Thanks Micheal!
Thanks 👍🏼
Great video 🤙🏼
Thank you !!
Mine fills with water, and drains but doesnt cycle. Is it the pump and is it a easy fix? Thanks.
Having the same problem with mine, did you ever get a fix for this problem?

My Whirlpool fillls and drains but the arm things won't turn or circulate water
Good video 🤙🏽 can you do a short video on reading diagrams?
Yes! I’ll put it on the to-do list 🛠
Not a fan of teaching people how to read diagrams. Should have went to trade school

One of the wires on my inlet valve was cut
Great job
I can't find the floating switch in my defy
Cool

Float valve had come loose. FIXED😊
