What do you guys think, more 3d printing tips/tricks videos? I know it's a little outside of what this channel originally started as, but it's a pretty popular hobby within our community. :)
Thank you!!! We need more videos like this due to the fact that some of these amazing prints can only be done on big beds and tricks like this is required. Make more, please!!!
I see you used boolean difference on both halves, I assume to print the joining cylinder separately? Also, wouldn't the printed cylinder have to be scaled down a little to fit into the holes on both halves without sanding?
Very fortuitous for me to find your vid - working on a large scale Tyrant from Resident Evil and your instructional couldn’t have come at a better time for me. Many thanks!
i did this with my first ever 3d printed model it had like.. 10 pieces, because the program I used didn’t have supports so I had to chop it up and rotate at the best angles possible. Haha
Funny this came back up in my feed...I now have a 3D Printer, AANNND...Prusa Slicer will do this right in the software. I have used meshmixer but for what is discussed here Prusa will do a "cut" . However, Wermy's guidance about where to slice is still EXTREMELY useful...as i do still consider myself a n00b with all this.
That is excellent, thank you for the demonstration, now to try and repeat what you make looks so easy!! Not! Would love to see more videos like this please thanks
Dude this is awesome ! Bein racking my brain trying to figure this out , I have a elgoo Mars with a small damn build plate and want to print my 1/4 figure! And chitubox is crap!! This has helped me so much tank again !
Damn that thing is big and looking good. I am also a Aliens and Predator fan. I have a LOT of comics and a LOT of shirts on the subjects. Sometimes even mixed with something else, like a Predator in Boba Fett armor as if he killed him. Also, not too many people know this, but do you know the following stuff is also in the Aliens/Predator universe ? Almost Human (prequel tv-series to Blade Runner) Soldier (the movie with Kurt Russell, modified humans being replaced with replicants) Blade Runner (both of them, the blaster Deckard uses is a Weyland-Yutani product) And i know i am forgetting something.
@@wermy There is quite an expanded universe, but it's not all so in your face, because it could also turn people off, they might have the feeling they should watch everything to know everything and so on, but movies that stand on their own generally work better. Especially when the number gets to be so high. Sure, Star Wars, Star Trek etc. but especially for Star Trek you can watch most on their own just fine. That said, i would not mind a big crossover type of thing like the MCU in the Aliens and Predator and Blade Runner universe. I am also a bit of a fan of some Terminator comics, one great idea is where a Terminator goes back to kill Sarah Connor, in Detroit, and Robocop spots it, things are off, goes digging on the net, finds Skynet eventually, but oops, the system also gets into him and he kindof triggers the self awareness of Skynet. Up to that point it's cool, then it goes off a bit too much with Robo going ot the future and over the top bullshit, but i like mixing that sort of stuff.
I also follow you on IG and was waiting for this video! I don't have a 3d printer but I love 3d printed stuff and I also love everything related to H.R.Giger. This model ended up looking sick af! Great work man!
When you placed the pegs, you created holes on the top and bottom portion? How are you supposed to connect them? When you create a peg does it automatically replicate that peg on the other piece?
Can this method be used on resin 3D printers as well? My family and I are new to 3D printing and we got a resin 3D printer. We’re interested in creating larger models with the printer but we’re not sure if this method would still work with the resin printer as this video was specifically for filament. Thanks!
Awsome video, am new to 3d printing having trouble with low extrusion mid print. Have adjusted temp at hot end, bed 1st layer speed, bed level, still getting failed prints. Working with ender 3 printer using PLA. Any help would be appreciated.
Okay wait... this was done with filament? Why do I keep hearing I must use resin for modeling? I have been wanting to try upscaling superhero files. So, you have done this successfully with good result?
What 3d printer was used? Prusa? I dont recognize the enclosure. Im looking at buying a new 3d printer and i dont know if i should buy the CR-10 or Prusa Original
Buying printers has a lot to do with several advantages you're looking for. An original Prusa might be just an allround great printer, but it ain't cheap, whereas a CR-10 is not bad when properly tuned, where it would give just as good prints , but requires more time working on the printer, and it's also cheaper (you can get two CR-10's for the price of one MK3) so, it all depends on what you are looking for. Also, the build volume on the CR-10 is bigger than the prusa so that might be something else to take into account (you want to print big or print small? Also the footprint can be an important issue due to where you plan on leaving the printer, and so on)
Hi, I have this 3d file for a lifesize jabba the hutt, but I am clueless how to slice this thing for my ender 3 pro. can I send you the file and pay you to slice it for me? Please I have no clue how to slice something so big. @wermy

I loved this! thank you it helped so much
It's perfect. 3D printing and handheld building/modding are so tightly knit... Tutorials for this kind of thing will help the community enormously
I enjoy the 3d printing but electronics projects is what I come for. Keep up the great work!
How can I have access to giant files for xenomorph
Was wondering if you could give some tips on how you modeled and went into so much detail with that object? Maybe what program you used?
Thank you!!! We need more videos like this due to the fact that some of these amazing prints can only be done on big beds and tricks like this is required. Make more, please!!!
Wermy is the best - I'm very lucky to be part of this community!
Chris too
@@AlistairBrugsch I dunno I heard Chris from UA-cam is a jerk
@@stopcreepingyouweirdo yeah screw that guy
2 videos in one month! This truly is amazing wermy. Thanks for taking the time to do these videos
If you haven't used this program, you're missing out.
**crashes unexpectedly**

thank you sir. after going through 5-6 videos, this is the one for a new beginner like me.
Very fortuitous for me to find your vid - working on a large scale Tyrant from Resident Evil and your instructional couldn’t have come at a better time for me. Many thanks!
Glad it helped! A giant Tyrant print sounds awesome 😁
Very Cool! Just bought a Resin Printer and this was a great tutorial on how to split up models for it.
i did this with my first ever 3d printed model it had like.. 10 pieces, because the program I used didn’t have supports so I had to chop it up and rotate at the best angles possible. Haha
wermy....you are my spirit animal.

This was incredibly helpful! I've been looking for someone explaining this very thing and I finally found your video.
Thanks a bunch!
Man I bet Adam Savage would ABSOLUTELY love to paint that thing, great job dude! 👽💚

Interesting! I knew about Weyland being in Netrunner (I love the card game), but didn't know it was intentional. :)

over on AliExpress they've got some half decent printers for as low as $80
I use an Ender 3 which is usually $220 usd and its $40 less there!
i entered every giveaway because i just love these retro gaming handhelds that you show and i love playing retro games!
What printer do you recommend for printing models for beginners.
I love aliens too!
You can download the stl for this alien now that's already in 7 pieces without any cuts!
When you placed the pegs, you created holes on the top and bottom portion? How are you supposed to connect them? When you create a peg does it automatically replicate that peg on the other piece?
You export the peg as an STL as well and print it.
awesome...were can i download the cutted model?
I have an elgoo Mars and when I add it to mesh mixer do I add the build plate dimensions or the printer dimensions in the add printer section?
Super 👍
how do you install that on your iMac? It says WINDOWS in their website. any help?
Thank you. Your video helped me so much.
Can I share the stls for this model size ?
thankyou this helped me a lot :)

where did you find mesh mixer for MAC? I can only locate the windows version.
The STL isn’t more available 😢

I was wondering, wouldn't it be better to alter pegs' size for a bit of tolerance?
Can you move and tech model
Okay wait... this was done with filament? Why do I keep hearing I must use resin for modeling? I have been wanting to try upscaling superhero files. So, you have done this successfully with good result?
could you share the split file? :) :) thanks
i get a 404 error with the thingiverse Xenomorph link. Do you have another link to the model please
The boolean difference tool constantly fails, things turn brown and don't work.
where can i download this ?
It keeps getting stuck at the generating mesh. Can you help
Great video saved for later thanks for sharing
What kind of paint should I use to paint the alien?
I think the model link is no longer available.
Does this apply for resin printing as well ?
are their any 3 d files of a full scale T REX head and neck that we could get.. i want it full scale.
What if I don't want a plane cut what if I want to follow a joint?
thank you
Can you post break down part files for gigantic print please
Magnificent! :)
could you please pass us the file for printing? the link you put in does not work, please

3d printing is time cut mechine builtders
absolute cool ans thats what I always what I say PRINT BIG or GO HOME :-))
who can I pay to print me out one of these
That stl is 404, all the ones I've looked at have been remeshed so many times all the detail has been rounded and lost. Shame.
no more on thininverse
dats hot
I've used straight acetone on unpainted parts with a great deal of success with PLA filament.
LuBan is the answer. Everyone look this program up for creating and slicing larger models.
Except that their pricing is a joke
It took 4 days
Wermy can please post 3d printing files for a mintyPi protective sleeve it would be so nice
Really cool but I feel like the tail is way to thick and not long enough. Really awesome though.
Useless for mac users
