The Halo Minecraft Crossover was Weird and Awesome?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 вер 2024
- Back in 2014 Halo and Minecraft did a Halo mashup pack in order to celebrate the Halo universe. From Halo skins to a full map with Halo locations, the Minecraft Halo Edition had it all. We take a look back at this very weird and awesome moment when Halo showed up in another game.

Fun fact, if you put on a Jack-o’-lantern the outside is master chiefs front visor and when it’s on it makes the hud from the halo games.
Halo 4
I used to love wearing that thing lmao
Pumpkin* Jack-o-lanterns can’t fit on your head
For me it always has black borders on the sides. I don't know if that's a glitch or just how it's supposed to be, but it kinda ruins it for me.
@@dougalbadger4918 In minecraft you can just put a pumpkin in your helmet slot
If you buy the Bedrock Edition of the pack, it does actually come with working missions in each area. The music discs are again normal, but I think that's standard for these mashups.
Indeed
Yeah the music discs were always Easter eggs you'd hunt for throughout the maps
@@lizardlegend42 and(I think) by far the best part of any mashup, because besides just being an homage to great franchises, it actually gives a purpose.
The Halo map was special, because it would reward you with the disc for completing the section.
The memories I spent on this map, now this is what I call nostalgia
Same
Same i still have the master chief skin in my account
Bun Laurette and palmer, 343 bring back big daddy Srgnt J
Same
legit I didn't see the video until a little after but when using the Xbox 360 found it as a avalable pack long ago while looking at the skins, lol.
This was really awesome, I don't think I have ever seen these animal mobs before.
I saw u on forge labs! You did good dude!
The pigs have warthog tusks
The axolotl are like sharks with an alien twist
not exactly but envision an axolotl crossed with a shark
@chezburger for all I know you need to get the texture pack, because I also found no evidence online
12:27 the ender dragon is the true final boss of Halo: the quad wing from H2 and H3
OHHHHHHH that's what it is. Ok thx
I don’t remember that.
@@TH3C001 me neither
@@TH3C001 they fly around on Delta Halo and crap. They explode into red mists when you kill them
Did they really not notice that, or was it a joke?
The wolves are Crawlers too! Changing the color of the collar changes the light color. I did this back when I had this mashup pack trial on the 360 version
Seeing your profile picture and username while scrolling the comments fr made my face light up bro. It’s good to see a UT fan in the wild. That game will never fuckin die
@@shnorglebop1798 Never actually played UT but I have it on PC. My profile picture is just a screenshot from the Infinity Blade II startup scene lol
First mashup pack I had ever bought, still rocking my Rookie skin and even made a Halo world where I have the Halo Wars 1 firebase built on it and some other stuff. Honestly Halo is my favorite game but Minecraft is easily up there.
I have the red and blue spartan with party hats on my account. I pretend that they're Sarge and Caboose lol
@@JayPlusForerunner :>
The bedrock version actually has more of an adventure aspect to it, with objectives and everything, it might be worth checking out!
The music in that Mash-Up was absolutely Godlike and the amount of love and care that must have went into making the pack is insane.
Is the music in the Windows 10 Edition version or is it just in the Legacy version?
Yes
@@firestorm-1154 it is in Win10 version
It was initially on Legacy Xbox made by 4J Studios, they did a great job
@@NazmusLabs okay, thanks
Man, 4J's Minecraft was so good. The awesome mashup packs - a mixture between basic texture refinements and cool crossovers - were really only part of why I loved it. It's just such a good port, the likes of which you rarely see nowadays.
Oh this “4J’s Minecraft” Is gonna be like the next “Bungie’s Halo” innit?
@@placeholder6343 naw, mojang 100% laid the foundations for minecraft. 4J's version wouldnt exist without it - it WAS just a fancy port , after all...
It's an absolute win when Minecraft and Halo are part of your top favorite games of all time

“To contemplate why we were actually in that canyon” - a man of ancient halo culture
This is the weirdest crossover since I tried to mix tequila and gatorade to beat Halo 2 LASO
Did it work though? 😂
That sounds awful
how did that work out for ya?
But did it work?
If you play this Mashup Pack on Bedrock Edition, there are actually objectives (you have to do them to get to new areas) such as Capture the Flag on Blood Gulch
Me when they start talking about Blood Gulch: “you ever wonder why we’re here?”
It's one of life's great mysteries isn't it? Why are we here? I mean, are we the product of some cosmic coincidence, or is there really a God watching everything? You know, with a plan for us and stuff. I don't know, man, but it keeps me up at night.
@@plusrai ...What? I mean why are we out here, in this canyon?
@@kabob0077 Oh, umm…
??? Yes, red vs blue, ha ha ha very funny.
@@pilarwolf8818 What was all that about God?
i love that the texture packs also change the music as well. so it was always playing Halo music from the og trilogy and Halo Wars 1.
there's also a lot of easter eggs hidden around the map, in one of the corners where the crashed pelican was, there's a Halo Wars Covenant Mega Turret sitting up on a ledge nearby
Besides halo 2 anniversaries theme, halo wars had the best music
To this day, this is still my favorite Mashup pack
The fallout and skyrim ones are pretty good too.
The Star Wars and Halo ones are definitely the best. The star wars one you can actually fly x wings and ties lol
@Reach Now I feel bad, because I feel like you're missing out. Yes many items in the Minecraft Marketplace look weird and feel like they aren't worth spending money on, but the Minecraft Mash-ups are from the minecraft team, and you can SEE and FEEL the effort they've put into their mash-ups.
Go and spawn an axolotl on the texture pack, you will not be disappointed
Did you guys know that the Minecraft halo mashup pack got so popular, they made a game franchise based off of it called "halo"?
😂 bruh.
Oamaagaganjdmwk I didn't keen that DDXDXXDD1!1!!11!!1
This was literally the only mash-up pack I bought.
Though don't get me wrong, there was a lot of other good ones, but this one appealed to me most
The Mass Effect one was dope too. Very impressive map even though I hadn’t ever played Mass Effect before
The skyrim one was lit, ironic that minecraft, skyrim and halo were my favourite games at the time
The mythology ones and holiday ones are cool too, from the ancient sands of egypt, to the towering castle in the Halloween world, these are the best
Honestly the 4J art department are some of the most impressive builders I've ever seen. The minigame maps as well, particularly in glide, were awe inspiring
mass effect, skyrim and the halo one are amazing
I love how this texture pack is still being updated to this day
I used to play around with some of my friends, we would take bows and just shoot at eachother in blood Gultch. I also loved imagining driving the mammoth.
It's always fun when you have to imagine instead of being able to do it 😂
@@Ruiluth for real. Wow, so fun pretending. Might as well go play out in the dirt out front like I use to as a kid.

Yeah, imagine having an actual imagination
this fills me with such an awesome feeling. Nostalgia really is something else. I played on this map with my cousin when it first came out. I was in the 1st grade
The coolest thing about this texture pack is that putting on a pumpkin makes the hud look like a Spartan helmet
When I first used this map I wasn’t into halo, and spent so much time trying fly toward the side of the ring thinking it was a tower
I just played through the mash up pack world again recently, it was the first time i played it since 2014
Look at the axolotl
@@lucasschuble847 Xbox one edition doesn’t get updated anymore and I don’t think you can retrieve it in bedrock edition.
Edit: never mind.
I remember playing with this on 360. Good times.
Usually random crossovers like this barely stay close to the original. I’m glad that that one of these for once was actually pretty cool.
I remember playing this when I was a kid, glad to see someone playing it so many years later
You or 4 months late
I remember flying in creative mode for hours on the map
i remember being a kid who just got MCC, and had just seen this mash up pack in the store. i got it and immediately explored the new textures and custom world with a friend of mine in creative. man, that was so fun, and this video makes me so nostalgic.
I loveed this when it came out
Spent most of my time by the scarab and mammoth
My first introduction to halo was from the web series red vs blue and i want to see blood gulch and i smiled when he said "why we were actually there" because it made me think of the first line in the series which is "do you ever wonder why are we here?"
I have so many fond memories of that mashup pack. It’s so great to just see. I do want to see someone remake it with modded entities like we have in bedrock modern day. It would be amazing to see that.
Honestly this Minecraft pack was actually my 1st introduction to halo in 2014 (I didn’t have an xbone but did have a 360)
10:05 Now I need to go and rewatch Red vs Blue...
I love Halo so much that I bought this day one and use the ship master skin to this day and when I do have the texture pack on I always try to have the pumpkin on because of the HUD
I like how the thumbnail is master chief from skin pack 1
And the video is about the mash up pack
The thing I liked about these is that whenever they updated the game with most of these textures they'd update all the new content so there was always new stuff to see.
I came at the speed of "chief!"
This pack is how I was introduced to the world of Halo!
That's actually really cool, I forget that not everybody knows what halo is
the ender dragon in this halo themed pack reminded me of the halo 2 and 3 quadwing birds
If you go on top of that ridge outside Valhalla, there's actually a skull up there. I forget what it it does.
Also, for exploring "every nook and cranny", I'm surprised that you guys didn't mention the redstone aspects in nearly ever map, most of which (if I remember right) say "secret unlocked". I never did figure out what those did back in the day, and I was really, really hoping I would finally learn with this video.
I'd love a follow-up video regarding the skulls and secret buttons in the Minecraft crossover. I haven't searched recently, but there definitely doesn't seem to be much of a community crossover between the two games, thus, information was severely lacking online. I could not find out what the hell the buttons do. And the skull on that metal ridge bordering Valhalla is the only one I found
There's so many secrets - I'm sure.
this is one the xbox one version, not bedrock.
so none of the command block stuff
Man, i remember playing that when it came out, i found the scarab and started doing weird stuff.
Me and my cousin infested the scarab and mammoth with flood just for fun
Can't look at that Master Chief skin without thinking of Geoff.
I understand this reference
@@scareditymays6yearsago477 I'm glad some people still remember
I remember playing this on the WIi U edition. It was so cool going from place to place and recognizing everything.
It was on the Wii U version? That’s pretty odd considering the PS3, PS Vita and PS4 versions never had the Halo world, but a LittleBigPlanet world instead.
I played the shit out of this map with my son on our Xbox 360 Halo 3, 4, and Reach limited editions. I recall the biggest build we did was next to the mammoth, we built a larger transport with a trailer which was taller than the mammoth and had two levels with a interior vehicle elevator for warthogs and scorpions. We called it *”The Tauren”* and today I still revisit the map and always walk around “The Tauren” as my son moved to Missouri for college last year. My son placed a sign down when we finished building “The Tauren” and the sign states: “UNSC TAUREN, Built 2014, Number Of Components; 4,326,709” and yes we used a total of 4,326,709 blocks to build it.
11:05 That reminds me of the one on Guilty Spark... Which I have little doubt the people who made this pack would have attempted to put in if they had the time and mapsize necessary to do so. Now I wonder what they could have done if they made an updated version of the pack for 1.17...
They've been updating the one in their new marketplace. Bought it, so worth it! They went back, added command blocks, turned it into a mini story! Each area is now a level, which has it's own unique minigame, and the last 'level', the ice one, combines everything you've used in the previous levels! They've added chests throughout the map in the different locations, The Didact's cryptum is no longer hollow, and is FILLED to the brim with TNT, ready to detonate with the throw of a UNSC grenade(flint and steel) or plasma grenade(fire charge)! And with each recent update like tridents, shields, and the newer mobs all getting Halo themed skins! Shields are now hunter shields, shulker boxes look like those colored barrels on "The Maw" from CE. I'd TOTALLY recommend checking out the newest version! Every time I load up a new map of the Halo Mash-up, I'm finding something new!
@@jacobrispoli4351 if you don’t mind me asking, what device are you playing this on?
@@theamazingquetzal3933 Well I've bought it with my Xbox account, so I can play it from my phone or another mobile device, and my Xbox One. I don't have minecraft on windows 10, but I'm pretty sure if I signed in on windows 10 with my account, I'd have it.
@@jacobrispoli4351 thanks, I’m on PS4 and it doesn’t appear, so perhaps if I buy it on another platform it’ll carry over. Thanks for the info
Bedrock edition
I only had the demo version, but it was honestly one of my favorite things in my 360 copy of Minecraft. From the Mission Halo in CE, to Valhalla from Halo 3, I loved every minute of it.
I thought I never heard about this until you mentioned the trial version. Then a bunch of memories were unlocked of me trying out the trial version with some friends in middle school. Though we didn’t play very much of it, like under an hour. I honestly probably wouldn’t have ever remembered that memory with this vid
That moment when you find that one "weapons cache" in the middle of the swamp biome
I oddly and weirdly remember this crossover....
I had just started playing Minecraft the summer of '13. I had almost zero clue what i was doing, as I was still very young and not allowed on the internet for more than 30 mins a day. Every day for a little over a week straight I watched youtubers on how to play. Anyways lets skip to the relevant part. I had just gotten the hang of it in 2014 when the Halo pack came out. I had no idea what Halo was, nor did I care, I just thought the skins were cool af and the map was neat. I did not realize that this was the mash-up of two game gods.
Now I'm a huge fan of halo and an average minecraft enjoyer. Yep, that was all I had to say. Thank you for wasting your time reading useless information about my childhood.
I don’t know why, but the first thing I thought when looking at the thumbnail was: “oh hey it’s Geoff” completely ignoring the fact that it’s actually Master Chief.
14:49. No. No it’s not ok. That’s when we do the activity known as “purging the heretics in our holy fire.”
Broooo, the nostalgia is insane
I played this on Playstation years ago knowing it was for Xbox and it felt weird
It is not for playstashion
I loved the mashup packs so much, I would always play like the "trailer" versions of them. My top 3 had to have been the Halo, Halloween, and Christmas mashup packs. so good
This one and the Super Mario Mash-up were so damn good
@@Robbie_Haruna yessss
There is a new Halo mashup thats way better!
I remember back in the day when I had no clue what halo was about, me and my brother would put TNT in the scarab and then one of us would blow it up and shoot fireworks inside it to make the explosion more epic while the other would watch it from their side of the screen. After that we’d reload the world and switch places for hours
I remember my first time playing that map, and the first time I could create my own Halo stuff in my own worlds after buying it, so many good memories :’)
This mash up brings back so many memories thanks for covering this
It doesn’t seem people know this but if you play this on the windows 10 version there’s actually a story you can play
If you actually walk around for a bit in the didact area of the nether, it gives you flint and steel (retextured as a grenade) and tells you to blow up the cryptum. Once you set it on fire, it starts playing warthog run and you have to get out of there. It's a cool explosion, as well.
This is cross over is literally my childhood, halo 3 and Minecraft were and are my 2 most played games.
That red vs blue reference in blood gulch tho
The pumpkin when you put it on is one of the my favorite things about the pack
The ender dragon texture is based off the flying things on guardian from Halo 3, I’m sure other maps too
you CAN access the Mashup packs without buying it. On Xbox 360 if you select a world with a texture pack or go to a world you will have the option for Trial mode where you can freely use the texture pack and world for free. The only downside is that you can’t save your world with a Texture pack and you still won’t have access to all the skins.
I forgot all about this until just now, holy crap. 2014 was interesting indeed
I like that they used the Halo Legends versions of some of the themes like Leonidas. Super underrated Halo Soundtrack.
Me and my cousin stayed up until like 2am transforming the scarab and mammoth into flood infested places it was fun we even build extra warthogs and ghosts and made craters around it to seem like there was a battle was going on or had happend
Those were the days
I have so many good memories with me and my friend back in 2014 playing before he moved away. Good days...
I love the RvB reference.
13:02 I remember playing on this map years and years ago as a kid and I'm pretty sure those have always played normal Minecraft music and never had any halo music on them, I really don't know why they put them all around the map
They were collectibles that 4J would always scatter across every map they built they are even in the old tutorial world I remember back in the day as a kid me and my friends online when exploring these worlds we would try to find them. I believe there was a achievement for finding all 12 disc on a map.
Every classic mash up pack was built around trying to collect all the discs. It was meant to get you to explore everything
When I got into halo 5 you put the disc in PERFECT TIMING
"and contemplate why we're there in that canyon"
I understood that reference.
Put a jack'o latern on your head while playing with this pack, you will get the hud from halo 4 on while wearing it. I remember how me and my friends were so excited when we found this out.
i remember back when i first got my xbox back in third grade just to play mine craft and halo and I fell in love with this pack it merged two of my favorite games at the time so thanks for giving it some recognition
1:45 you cannot access the map (im like 50% sure of that), but if you own it on xbox edition, it automatically becomes available on the bedrock version.
I got this when I was in 7th grade on my 360 and I still play it to this day on my series X. I love it
This gives me lots of memories of the older Minecraft games that you could only play on console
10:04 really love what was said here 😉
Its just one of life's greatest mysteries
Love how the mobs ate a mixture of Flood and Forrunner. Don't remember what the others look like.
I adored this as a kid on Xbox 360 edition, I spent countless hours just messing around with friends and enjoying the different nods to the old halo maps that I played with the same friends :)
I used to play this so much with my friend before I even knew what halo was
things like this makers me really hope somebody makes a full fledged Halo mod
Imagine you dig down and find the crashed version of high charity and there is a hyper-realistic Gravemind in there
BIG nostalgia hit i remember playing the mashup on the xbox one, i dont exactly remember when exactly I did but i do know it was around 2015 and it was awesome! (BIG NOSTALGIA)
Literally some of my favorite moments from my childhood.
I have a photo of a backdrop of a Covenant Ship glassing a city I made with in creative world with my character standing in the middle. Still looks good today
This is so nostalgic for me and brings me back to when me and my friends would spend hours on this map.
We’re still friends to this day btw lol
Nice way to go through memories with a game that gives nostalgia
I remember playing this world when I was 7. I didn’t know what halo was so I just played it once and never thought about it again
This is so nostalgic! I remember installing this texture pack when I was in 5th grade or so. It was right after we bought the Xbox 360, Halo 4, and Minecraft.
Those were good times, much simpler times too
“Back in 2014” god damn I feel so old now. I remember bugging my mom to buy it even though I never played halo til a week ago
*You missed the best part PUMPKINS PUT A HELMET HUD ON YOUR SCREEN*
I found this on my 360 and had almost zero idea what halo was. It was so weird and I had no idea what any of the structures were. Now that I’ve played all the games I know what they were going for. Like when I played halo 4 and the mammoth mission came up I immediately remembered back to 6 or 7 years ago when I saw it on Minecraft
these mashups were console franchise based, such as the playstation version having a little big planet mashup, nintendo version having a mario mashup
They also updated the skins for Halo Infinite!
Ive had this pack since launch and I can not stress this enough I STILL HAVENT SEEN EVERYTHING IN GAME
The nostalgia I used to get while exploring this world was amazing and now I’m getting even more nostalgia from this video
6:09 I had so much trouble getting this skull. Hearing you refer to it as "incredibly impossible to get to" was pretty validating, to be honest.
Also, I think that "Weird and Awesome?", complete with the question mark, is *exactly* how I would describe this crossover pack. I don't have an Xbox and was curious if it was possible for me to play this via the weird unified Windows version of Minecraft that you mentioned, and sure enough they did update it following the release of Halo Infinite. Master Chief Mash-up for 990... coins.
