As the mom of a little boy w ASD I am NOT a fan of the 1-3 levels. I think it’s kind of insane to limit a spectrum disorder to so few options of diagnosis. Suuuuper frustrating! And you’re right, being a special needs parent is not for the weak but if you are it will make you dig down and find a strength you never knew you had.
I’m blessed to be the big sister of younger siblings with special needs and to have seen how devoted my parents were to advocating on their behalf during their school years. I learned a lot and know use that knowledge to help my son ❤
Not to say it’s been easy. Even my own parents weren’t convinced my son had autism because he’s mildly delayed with most things and can talk up a storm but oh, those behaviors 😢! It was so hard knowing he needed help but could find no one who believed me enough to help. It almost broke me but I couldn’t quit on him. Our journey has already been a long one at ten years and I still learn something new every day.
Keep up that awesome vigilance on your sweet girl’s behalf. Make “those” folks, the ones who either don’t care or just enjoy saying “no” to what your daughter needs, quake in their boots when they hear your name and when they see you coming be thinking “Oh, not HER again!” The good thing about being a “squeaky wheel” is that they will know not to mess with you. They’ll be ready to give you what you want just so you’ll leave them be, lol. It’s a fine line to walk though. Don’t want to piss them off, just scare them a bit…make ‘em pee a little when they see you 😉

Serenity Sky is so blessed to have you as her mom. I agree that that is very young for a diagnoses, though it has afforded her therapy she needed, and agree with you to have it reevaluated as children develop rapidly and can change.
I have raised five of my own and my youngest didn't speak until she was 3 and wasn't out going, she has ADHD like all her siblings and is now an inclusive K-8 teacher. My children were raised in a trilingual environment, as the country we were in at the time was neither my nor my husband language nor culture, and we didn't move back until 1998
I understand what you mean about communication, I am happy she has you to fight for the best. Class and school choices are hard. But know if your first choice ends up not being right you have every right legally to make a change, it is always what is best for Serenity. I am a small preemie and because of this have always had interest in special needs children, my moms both bff had their youngest as special needs children, to me it was just part of life. Though I wanted to be a doctor, i have been a teacher aide and early childhood teacher both self contained and inclusive. I am very much for holistic and inclusivity with pull out only for tutoring and help. It is best for both "sides of the camp" as acceptance and compassion start right there. Some of my former students had communication devices, they are a god send for people who can not speak, whatever the base of the problem is. One student he had CP and couldn't speak and was a brilliant artist and musician even though it took much effort to do both. His much older sister fought for him on every step and he always said she gave him the opportunity to shine he wouldn't had.

Autism can be difficult. There can be times when the condition seems better and times when it is worse. Consistently is the key. Just keep loving her and fighting for what is best. That’s all you can really do.

A lot of doctors just don't seem to care. They rush the patient through without being thorough. My Daughter believes my 4 year old Granddaughter is autistic but she has had a hard time finding someone to test her. She was told to wait until she got a little older. Beautiful baby girl!😍So cozy in her sleeper!🌺I read a lot of the comments on the Chenza short and replied to a few. There were people that really thought they were real and even tried to argue that they knew they were real. One person said they were real because they saw the baby blink.😆😂
Yes I understand how your daughter feels! It is hard trying to get them tested. It is very long waiting lists. Oh yeah! I read through a lot of the comments on that short. I laughed when I read they saw it blink! 🤣😂

I recently unfriended someone on Facebook. An actual friend because she did the same. Went and screenshot someones Facebook that posted a knock off doll then made a big post alerting all her friends that are friends with that person to unfriend that person. How do they not understand that is bullying.

I feel sorry for that poor, long dead horse, flogged down to the bones. Unfortunately, the dolly police have no intention of letting it go, and just live and let live. I think the best thing we can do whenever possible, is ignore their foolishness and continue to enjoy our dolls. I recently had an exchange with two of them, and they’re completely innocent! They just reacted when people started picking on them! Needless to say, they’re completely delusional. People minding their own business, enjoying their dolls, would have no reason to suddenly lash out and attack the doll snobs. Good to hear Serenity Sky is doing so well. My oldest son is almost 48, and when he was a kid I knew something was off. People just kept telling me he was spoiled and I was a rotten parent. After years of searching for answers, he was finally diagnosed with ADHD and auditory processing disorder. We started medication, and therapy for the APD, but by then a lot of damage had already been done. He had a tumultuous adolescence, to say the least, but now he’s doing well and successful in his field. My youngest son developed a raging case of OCD at the age of eight, and that was a wild ride too. But he is also doing well and successful in his field. Fast forward to my oldest granddaughter, who is 15. At the age of ten, she also developed crippling OCD, but with the help of medication and counseling, she’s doing well, and just completed driver’s ed! Then there’s one of my “bonus” granddaughters (my son’s girlfriend’s five year old,) who has ASD, but seems to be progressing nicely. So yeah, parenting-or grandparenting-kids with neurological differences can be challenging for sure. But just because they see the world through a different lens doesn’t mean they are going to lead a doomed life. With an awesome mom like you to guide Serenity Sky through life, I have no doubt she will do just fine.
