Anbar48 the issue I have is that I have an iPhone 3gs 8gb model produced in like the 38th week of 2011 and I get error 28 whenever I try this. Another UA-cam pointed out that this method only works on 16 and 32 gb models of the 3gs
If you use redsn0w, and have the unmodified IPSW on hand, you'll be able open up redsn0w, go to 'Extras' then select Custom IPSW. It should spit out a custom IPSW.
Ok so i created a custom ipsw of ios 5.1.1 (redsn0w said that only 4.3.3 and 5.0+ could be customized) and i restored in itunes, but it gives me error 32. Do you know a fix?

4.1 is already signed so you can just do it with itunes

Sometimes, error 6 tends to be an issue with antivirus software, maybe try changing some settings with that

I'm pretty sure error 2005 has something to do with a faulty USB cable/port.

No, although I bet you've already fixed your issue.. To downgrade you'll have to install linux (make a bootable usb for your pc)

You can use the 'cd' command followed by the name of the folder.
Example: cd ipwndfu-master or cd downloads
This ipsw link is for the old bootrom phones, or the new bootrom?

I tried to restore 3.1.3 to an 8GB 3GS (manufactured 2010) and got error 28 in iTunes. Did the same with a 16GB and it worked just fine. Why is that?
slr but most 2010 manufactured 3gs are only downgradable to 4.1
