When Your Patio NEEDS a Wall

Today we build a small retaining wall along the backside of this paver patio so that our base material does not push against the fence. This is a requirement on this patio and we show why along with the process of building this retaining wall.

Very similar to something I'm considering taking on, but mine will be a patio in direct contact with a house foundation. Where it is only a 1' wall height, do I need to separate the patio from the house foundation?

most installers would not unless it is a raised patio where all four sides are enclosed with a wall
