😊
It’s wonderful that you were able to show pics, names and hometowns of the crew members. They were real people and that drove home the point. Good work here.
Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
@@HiddenHistoryYT They should go to where that ghost thing was and do ground penetrating radar on the seabed.
Agreed 100%.
My Grandfather...😢
So sad so many lives lost in wars. Thanks for showing a glimpse into the cost of war. May they rest in peace.
Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
One of the most moving WW2 videos I've ever seen.
Tears running down my face.
Taps always brings tears to my eyes.
Seeing the faces, names, hometowns, rank/rate and the amazing caricature of the mess attendant ... In alphabetical order ... Is true respect.
S class boats, and those who served on them, deserve their own unique place in history, memory and honor.
Best, J.S.Walker, USN DC3, 1987-1990
Thank you for your service! Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
It’s a shame that even for those who did make it back and live a long life after the war, their generation is nearly gone now. Leaves me feeling like we’re a classroom full of kids when the teacher steps out of the room…
Still on eternal patrol. Thanks HIDDEN HISTORY.
Thank you!
Thanks for the history and the photos of the men.
Appreciate you watching and have a great weekend :)
Wow....I got choked up watching the names and the faces of the lost. I have a picture of myself in my Crackerjacks and it could have been inserted with these guys, even though they were my grandparents age when they died. Such a scary way to go.
Appreciate you watching and have a great weekend :)
With a green crew, i wonder if this was another mistaken opening of the main induction valve like Sqaulus.
Most naval ships are expected to only successfully sink once. Submarines are expected to repeated the process and somehow return to the surface. Every time they manage that feat is a miracle of modern engineering.
That is the sort of incident included in the term "Operational Casualty".
Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
Love the thumbnail painting. Sad for the loss. Great job HH.
Indeed! Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
How very sad. Is it not possible to mount an investigation of where the grey ghost was sighted?
That's very expensive 😢
@@rod2998
Not with a known location. A few days of grid work with a magnetometer should find it. Won't dig it up (it's a war grave) but could confirm location
@@kirkstinson7316 More expensive than you know. Do some research on expenses.
Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
@@rod2998 The cost doesn’t matter…..the families, descendents and friends of this lost boat and crew deserve to know what happened.
Superb honorable tribute, to our boys on the 'USS Dorado'😔👍👏👏!!!
I agree! This is a very respectful tribute to these soldiers who were called home long before their time was due. Thank you for recognizing them and telling their story. 🙏
I appreciate that the USS Dorado is remembered.
My Grandfather was the Commander 😢
Wrecked our family, him not returning. Grandma couldn't cope.
So she was lost as well, my dad an orphan.
To the brave men ❤
Thanks again for remembering.
Your grandfather was an American hero who won’t be forgotten. It’s the least I can do, but isn’t much compared to his sacrifice for our country. Sorry to hear how this affected your family. We will remember all those brave men.
Appreciate you watching and have a great week ❤️
Thanks. Noticed also the picture with my Grandmother I may have blocked out before. Stella Grace❤
Also remembered
Spouses serve as well

The obvious. Main induction valve failure to close during a dive. Or other failure while submerged.
A lot can go wrong on a war boat, no enemy or friendly fire required.
Rest in Peace Sirs
Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
The date offers another possibility.
That she was a victim of one of the multitude of faults inherent in her own M k 14 torpedoes.
They were sometimes known to circle back, among other operational deficiencies.
The Free French Sub Surcouf went down in the same waters under similar circumstances.
Appreciate you watching and have a great week
Total admiration and respect to the lost men and to their families,God speed.Would definitely like to have copies of prints from the 27 paintings of the boat and her men!!!
Thanks for watching and have a great week :)
Great work I’ve been waiting for this one!!
Hope you enjoyed it! Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
Rest in Peace to the Crew 😢
Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
Great but sad video. And thanks again for putting up pictures. As I was looking at the pictures, I noticed a family name and as I looked closer, the resemblance of the names sailor is just amazing how he looks like my mother’s brother. Now my uncle was born in in 1940. But again the name and resemblance is something else. I did have some great uncles who did serve in the pacific, one Navy and one Marines. And my father in-law served in the Navy on board a tin can, destroyer on the North Atlantic also. Have to check out the family tree. Thanks for the video.
Thank you to him for his service! Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
My uncle was a Chief Petty Officer aboard this submarine 💜
Rest in peace
Thank you to him for his service and sacrifice ❤️
@@HiddenHistoryYT He survived Pearl Harbor while assigned to a destroyer then volunteered for the silent service 💜
Thank you so much for the Taps reel.
i always wonder how their last seconds of their lives must have been..what heroics did they try that failed to save their boat, and fellow brothers..thanks for such great content..still think you deserve so many more subs/views...
The The Royal Navy lost 73 submarines, seven X-craft, and 3,160 men
RIP, brave men. Thanks for watching and have a great week :)
If you know the exact route, a magnetometer should find it.
The exact planned route will not be the same as the actual route. Think about how water density and currents(favorable and unfavorable) can alter the path.
So I have emailed Senator Marco Rubio and told him that my Grandfather and his men never received their Purple Hearts.
It's the crew I am mostly concerned for and their family members and loved ones and all appreciators of the Dorado and WW2 submarines in general who would like to see some sort of recognition.
I will keep you posted.
Marco Rubio is incredibly effective and responsive.
One possibility: Scared by the Mariner attack, they crash dived a barely tested boat.
Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
Was the submarine on the line to the Panama Canal close to the Bermuda Triangle? It might be the case of that!
Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)

All those young men….😔😪
Yep :( Appreciate you watching and have a great weekend :)
I doubt that it floated for any amount of time they did provide an escape hatch that could be used on the Balao class so I would thin k there would also be one on a Gato class. In shallow water that would have been very useable.
Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
Those paintings were a curse.
Possibly! Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
R.I.P. TO ALL THOSE SAILOR'S AND OFFICERS.

Thanks for watching and have a great week :)
If she was disabled and sent drifting why didn’t her CO radio its status to his command?
Close to the surface, they could have exited using Momsen lungs.
Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
If they were that shallow they have an escape hatch
Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
52 in the pacific ?
😮
Appreciate you watching and have a great weekend :)
Mk13 & 15 torpedo, the mk14 i thought was only used on British used old us dd's
Unfortunately the MK14 was the primary US submarine launched torpedo at the time. It was riddled with defects and was an absolute liability for much of the war. If you have about half an hour and want to learn to hate the Bureau of Ordnance then Drachinifel has a wonderful video about it: ua-cam.com/video/eQ5Ru7Zu_1I/v-deo.htmlsi=PNQlyx6NOl7q9ylk
@@mattwilliams3456 I know of the mk13 (dd launched) & mk15 air dropped version having a lot of defects, but always thought the US submarines had a better torpedo
Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
78 subs lost and thousands of lives lost... Over 100 crew members for every sub??? I dont beleave it...
👍👍
Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
Aye remember, this was brought to u by the state of Connecticut
Thanks for watching and have a fantastic week :)

New boat. Mechanical failure likely.
Soon as you said women built it....
Well,
*adjusts trouser braces*
there's yer problem
I was too slow. You beat me. Well played sir, well played.
Connecticut is not a populous state, and her sons are overrepresented among the dead.
Orrr it was made by women there for…..
First sub built by women you say? Mystery solved boys saved you 20 mins.
Of course never mention the English will you They lost 79 of their subs but as usual it was the yanks that did everything and won both wars on their own
Nobody cares about your stupid island.
I think Britain and Japan had larger flying boats than the Martin Mariner.
