The friends I made somehow they seemed to slip away
And only now I'm left alone to end the play.
Yesterday when I was young
So many lovely songs are waiting to be sung,
So many wild pleasures lay in store for me
And so much pain my eyes refused to see.
There are so many songs in me that won't be sung;
I feel the bitter taste of tears upon my tongue.
The time has come for me to pay for yesterday when I was young.

I'm writing this comment for a couple of reasons. 1. I'm homesick. 2. Ms Carpio is one of the best singers in HK. If she is to shine internationally, she needs the best of assistance and support from her entourage. Unfortunately, on the basis of her rendition of my favourite song here, she does not seem to be getting it.
So, pardon me for being audacious. Just two points, if I may. 1. Yesterday when I was young, many ....WERE (not ARE) waiting to be sung. 2. .... ALAS (a sigh, an interjection showing regret), not (AT LAST), an adverbial phrase that makes no sense in the context.
