I’m too old (45), and served in the USMC, but this does look like a rewarding career in America’s Navy. A friend was an aircrewman aboard P-3 Orions and stressed how awesome it was they can’t operate from ships of any kind.
Proud to say my son just completed his requirements for AWS and received his wings and his E4 on 24 February. Impossible to encapsulate his journey in one sentence, but I am in awe of him. #E4LennonThorneAWS
I'm 25 and think it's too late, but I'm going to the recruiting office tomorrow to peruse exactly this. I'm going in with these same goals. Thank you for this!
I am too young at the moment... i am 13 but i am doing all i can to get infromation and im gladly honored to be serving eith you guys in the future, it is truly a honor
I wish they allow sailors to choose which sub rating they want within the Aircrew ratings. I better not get stuck doing mechanical for 4 years when I get there
I’ve been looking into becoming a Aircrewmen but I want to know how often you a Ofer to fly in a helo and also I want to know if you get to chose to be a AWS or a AWR. Thanks!
Im not in the Navy but from what I've read you'll fly about once or twice a week stationed and almost every day on deployment. And you can put an a request for AWS or AWR after A school.
I would like to get in contact with someone who is in the navy or knows alot about the navy, to ask about possable carrers in the navy how would I go about that?
@@gbtapps How long are flights? Also what's the difference between AWS and AWR? I know that AWR are mainly sub hunters and AWS is SAR but when you're gong on a average flight who does what? I've read that AWS does alot of taxi for Seals and other spec op units and they also circle the ship so that theres a ready SAR team in case a pilot ejects. What about AWR? Thanks.
@@nolanfrazier3482 flights can be 2-4 hours but you can land refuel and go back up. AWS is mainly SAR and vertical replenishment but don't think that sierras will get more rescues than AWRs. Many AWS's even the instructors at rescue swimmer school had 0-2 saves. AWR is mainly surface warfare and anti submarine warfare but we are just as qualified in SAR as the AWS's
Aircrewman is the term for both air rescues and dry aircrewman who man the fixed wing aircrafts. If you’re a good swimmer and love to workout then AIRR is the way to go. If you would rather sit in a big airplane and do mechanical or operational work than dry aircrewman is for you.
Seems like these Naval Aircrew flicks always show the helicopter jobs when actually their are other flying jobs on fixed wings like the C-130, E-6 and others. I'd like to see some of those flying jobs for enlisted people.
@@Sesna678 Contracts are 8 years, whether you spent 4 or 6 years active duty doesn't matter, you can still be called back to service for whatever reason until that 8 year contract is up

My daughter is AWR and certified as AIRRC in special warfare also :) she was one of one female to make it through at this time ❤

AC school is pretty tough, but a majority of the heavy lifting comes from swim quals. You can do it!!!

They do it by choice, performance and needs of the Navy
@@tristanfreeman4029 If you go in as AIRR (Rescue Swimmer) will you automatically be AWS/AWR? Or atleast be put on those helos?
John Lyons If you contract as AIRR your platform will either be Sierras or Romeos (AWS and AWR)
Andrew Boaz I know. I’m currently at NACCS

In his "regular life"? Being a second class, he's hardly in charge of the aircraft. No wonder he didn't get any job offers out of college.
