That's interesting, we had arcades with advanced 3D graphics all the way up until 2004-2005 in the Seattle area. They just were less and less common after 1995-ish.
I remember during my danmaku phase, I played this one so much that I would simply dream of golden cubes, falling slowly. They were nice dreams, honestly.

Dang, those pre-renders in the background still look pretty bad for the most part... Anything less than 32bpp colour really wasn't kind to this sort of art style, especially with any compression mangling it further.
