The fact that Emilia Pérez has become the most nominated film this year is a testament to how eager certain critic circles and awards bodies are to congratulate themselves for embracing a very light and superficial form of progressiveness.
Aleja, it was supposed to be year of seasoned LatinX , both Zoey and Karla blew it ja ja ja ja. . Zoey's gon' get hers but she has zero latinidad in her culturally , she is a gringa
Huh?
@@PHlophe Latino LatinX is not really liked in Latino lgbtq communities it is not proper grammer from what I heard.
I don’t think Emilia Perez will do well at Critics Choice, but we will see soon enough.
Hollywood likes to pretend that they are respectful and sensitive to social issues by ticking checkboxes and not truly understanding the situation
Here in Latin America we despise Emilia Perez, never in cinema history have I seen all Latinos united against a piece of media like this
Just in Mexico. Other countries have no problem with it.
Most trans commentators seem to hate it, as well. Considering it's supposed to be about a Mexican trans woman, the fact that most Mexican and trans people hate it is damning imo.
@@kerolives Largely irrelevant (and incorrect) opinion seeing as it's through the lens of mexican culture, its the one that matters most.
@@sevensongsWho cares? It's a movie. Doesn't matter what race of ppl like it. It wasn't made for them. It was made for everyone. Idk why it matters what Mexicans or trans feel about this movie?
@@kerolives im from Colombia, i didnt like it, not even because is offensive but because is a bad movie
The fact that this movie crushed Dune 2 in Oscar noms is one big JOKE. They even beat Dune for best music when Dune’s score SLAPPED. I bet Denis regrets making those nice comments now! Josh Brolin is right to be PISSED.
I liked Emilia Perez quite a lot, but loved Dune 2. It definitely deserved more nominations than it got, including adapted screenplay and director.
Agreed that Emilia Perez was over nominated, but to be fair, not technically that film's fault that caused Dune 2's snub in best score. The original score for Dune Part 2 was disqualified by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences before nominating ballots even went out to voters. They said too much of the score repeated from the first film, which no longer qualifies it as "original". Voters were never given the choice to nominate Dune Part 2 for score at all.
Sis, that bitch Emilia is up against Nosferatu for Costumes and Makeup....Idek anymore. Nosferatu very pointedly was snubbed too.
I honestly think part Dune's snubbing is due to the Academy's notorious short-term memory. Most movies that want Oscars release around Nov/Dec because of this. It legit feels like Dune 2 came out ages ago.
Challengers was denied a score nomination!
The Director of "Emilia Perez" isn't taking nearly enough heat for all the controversy. He clearly had no business getting the Best Director nom over Denis and others.
@@colinvandenberg3446 giving Mr. "I didn't need to do research" an Oscar nomination, but not Denis Villeneuve is absolutely crazy.
@@theomnitorium7476 I'm convinced Denis did something to piss off the Academy. which makes me like him more tbh
@@colinvandenberg3446 Yeah him being nominated over Denis is a crime. So is the film getting a nomination for score, editing and screenplay over Challenges and/or Nosferatu
True. Guess it's easier to rage at people whose faces are plastered all over media like Selena and Karla Sofia
@@colinvandenberg3446 the academy is unusually fawning when it comes to French directors. Like in 2012 when the director of Amour was nominated over Kathryn Bigelow, Quentin Tarantino, and Ben Affleck (who directed the eventual Best Picture winner).
I'm Mexican and the fact that "Johanne Sacreblu" made it into Dan's video just made my day!!

There was already « emily in Paris «
For what it’s worth I’m about as white as Dan but after his mention I had to check it out. Very glad I did, I was seized with laughter during that opening musical scene, will revisit the entire thing later today. I am thinking it might be the best thing ever made
The negative critics not only comes from Mexico, but from every spanish-speaking countries. Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, etc..
(For the record, I loved the video, great work Dan)
And Brazil
Well yeah, especially because of the lazyness with which the spanish-speaking parts have been written.
Amo esa película.
Surprisingly Brazil as well
Boy, if Emilia Pérez sweeps the awards after all this, it will easily be the ugliest Oscar season in a while.
I really hope it doesn't, it would be so bad... However, at this point, I believe it won't happen
I’m all for wicked winning best picture now lol
Forget sweeping. If it wins ANY award, especially Best Picture and/or Best Actress, it will be chaos. (Best Supporting Actress may be the safest award for it to potentially win, due to garnered goodwill over the course of Zoe Saldaña's career.)
How do y’all not understand it’s all about getting views. They nominated Perez mainly for the social commentary it will/has caused which will lead to more views of the ceremony which has gradually died over the years. The movie is not a good movie but it creates chatter and news resulting in people tuning in to watch
@@StephenShepherdOfficial Honestly, I hope it doesn’t win even that. Ariana Grande really should win this.
Those Karla Sofia Gascon tweets are crazy. She practically hates everybody including her co-star Selena lmfao
What did she say about Selena? I didn’t see anything about that in this video.
Never mind. Found it. Google ftw.
well she likes the austrian painter named hitler so your statement is false LOL
*he* Karlos Gascon’s mental illness need to be looked into, and not be celebrated.
Ikr?!? He kept reading more of her statements and I kept thinking “OMG, girl! Stop TALKING!”
@ Like where is her PR team? Sat in the corner sucking on their thumbs like…😭😭😭
If Emilia Perez does win Best Picture, we all owe Crash and Green Book an apology 😅
Crash and green book are citizen Caine and the godfather compared to this dumpster fire.
No the fuck we do not 😂😂
Just because this movie is bad, doesn't mean we have to forgive other bad movies for their bad things
@@Weaponator18 Nah, we have too. Emilia Perez is far worse than Crash and Green Book. Crash will be no longer the worst Best Picture winner ever now that Emilia Perez says hi 🤣
Maybe, but Crash is still a bad movie that feels more like a TV special than a theatrical released film. Haven't seen Green Book in its entirety, so I can't judge
Both of them are legitimately decent movies. Emilia Perez is actively terrible. It's a truly razzie worthy movie.
Imagine being Netflix right now. They thought they had their first Best Picture Oscar in the bag but now have what is quickly turning into a dumpster fire awards campaign on their hands.
Here is hoping for Frankenstein.
And even if there was no controversy, 13 noms is just too much. Especially when Denis got snubbed for best director & Dune 2 got snubbed on adapted screenplay..
Even without all the controversy, it's a mediocre movie. Not the worst movie I've seen but definitely not Oscars worthy. But then again that happens every year. The Oscars are kind of trash
What makes this even worse is the fact that all the Netflix-backed movies in the awards race in the past years were way more deserving of the best picture oscar, like The Irishman. Also, Netflix had actually produced one of the best films ever set in Mexico, which was Roma. No one would have batted an eye if they'd done this relentless campaigning for either of those films.
Couldn't have happened to a nicer company.
Some hate is untranslatable. If you know Spanish you know those tweets were WILDLY hateful
Exactly. They’re so much worse in Spanish
Right??? In the Interview Karla give today she's saying that they maliciously translated her twits, but girl.... all of us spanish speakers know is not a translation isuue😅
Pressing the translate button is like getting yourself a death threat lol
Right??? I remember so much one of her tweets translated "No escarmentaremos" into "we don't learn" like????? No??? To me it read as "we will be thorough (in removing muslims from Spain)"
@@KherMoon TODO. DE. ESO.
A little correction. Mexico has NOTHING to do with Emlia Perez. People who liked that movie have 2 things in common. They don't speak Spanish (neither do the actors in the movie) and have no idea how México looks like.
Usually they're idiot gringos who think they're good person for liking an inclusive movie (trans, "mexicans", etc)
This movie thinks the whole world is Ikea. You can build a version of "Mexico" with cheap, generic sets and change your sex by shopping for cosmetic surgery procedures you select from a catalog of options!
Exactly.
Guillermo del toro likes it. He came from Mexico and speaks Spanish
The movie was produced by Pimienta Films, a Mexican Movie Company. Lol.
You know it's bad when Dan's Spanish is better than in the movie.
I haven't watched it but generally when the supposedly native character is played by an actor who can't pronounce the words and it's poorly translated, it not only completely takes you out of the movie it's like nails on a chalkboard. México has produced some of the finest actors, many of whom are famous to American audiences. The casting director should never work again if this is the kind of lazy effort she thought was good enough.
He's the only UA-camr I've seen pronounce "Pérez" correctly, lol
@@eze6982 seriously, enough with the perÉz already 😢
@@ellicelIt’s not lazy. It’s stunt casting. Also, putting familiar faces to sell the film, which is important for small films. I guess it didn’t work too well this time. 😂
Kudos for actually pronouncing "Pérez" the correct way, thing that the movie couldn't do.
7:52 Guillermo del Toro is only defending this luke warm diarrhea of a movie because its a Netflix movie and Netflix is financing his remake of Frankenstein, so del Toro is just 'playing ball' so he can keep his funding.
It’s disappointing 😢
When you were talking such big game previously about Hollywood and Latin America,it makes you extra big of a clown though. Shame. Some of his movies are favourites.
Torito isn't beating the whitexican allegations
At least he was set up to participate at the I’m still here campaign (it fell through because of the fires)
idk about lukewarm. he called it "cinema."
The thing is she didn’t even hide them. They were just on her X account. The journalist didn’t even have to look real hard. How the backers of this movie didn’t research this is beyond me.
The backers of the movie didn't do much research on anything for this film it appears. They didn't do any research on the subject matter they just assumed they knew.
“Drama with Dan” just as entertaining as charts! 📈
Agreed!!
Because he's rational and genuine about his takes
“Drama with Dan” is a cool title. He should use it!
Still hoping it sweeps the Oscars and win 13 out of 13 👍🥳🍾
I love this
There's the old joke, "I'm not prejudiced, I hate all people equally." It seems like Gascon tried to live by that precept.
statements like that have always confused me, wouldnt it be better to hate 20% compared to 100% of people? It's like saying " Im not a bad driver, Im just drunk driver"
@@adsafgasgasdfasdf In todays world is better to be a hateful person than to be marked as prejudiced. I personally think that is a bad sign and a consequence of bashing wrong things but thats me
“You are all equally worthless”
@@adsafgasgasdfasdf It's more like saying "I'm not against electric cars; I hate driving all cars equally."
edit: The bad part is the criteria you're using to judge the 20% bc it usually means the hate for the 20% is much more distilled and stronger compared to general dislike for humans.
Reminds me of homer simpsons jury joke
Emilia Perez making history in all the wrong ways!
Dan, I have a feeling if you had reviewed Emilia Perez back in November, the movie would've been forgotten by today and we'd all be sitting here completely baffled by the 13 Oscar nominations for Hot Frosty.

Mexican here. Chilango at that. The problem with Selena Gomez is not that she wasn't well directed. The problem is that her spanish is as authentic as a plastic taco... From Taco Bell.

"I'm not racist, my butler is black!"

Some of my best friends are butlers.
Sigh
Lol
Madonna: im not racist, i have black men in my sex book.
I mean, Emilia Perez shouldn't have been nominated to begin with... I think it's more of an indictment of the Academy that they nominated this film for so many categories to begin with, and it took THIS much backlash in order for it to only possibly, maybe not win awards... Even then, the damage is done--Emilia Perez was still nominated in categories it has no business in, taking spots that should have gone to much more deserving films/talent.
Well said!
Yeah, exactly. The movie isn't even out where I lived, so I assumed at least it was competently made. But after watching some clips, the awful songs, the terrible spanish accents and worst of all the spanish dialogue, really makes it hard to understand how it even got any awards buzz at all.
@@Di7manyamaybe WATCH THE MOVIE. I keep hearing and seeing comments like this and my only question is how can anyone hate something they never heard or saw? Like seriously, watch the movie or get out of the discussion because you don't really add anything.
@@mania4270 You clearly don't understand how the internet works. The movies sounds awful to start with.🤷
I blame it more on the French and Cannes. They gave it the wild momentum.
Whenever someone apologies by saying saying “I can’t be racist because my friend is (Black or Gay, etc.) I stop listening.
There’s true apology with taking accountability, and there’s the mean girl “I’m sorry that people are so jealous of me, but I can’t help it that I’m popular”
The downfall of "Emilia Perez" is something that is going to be studied years down the road. This is truly the most disastrous Oscar campaign I have ever seen.
it will still win some Oscars because it deserves them. Best film of the year, and that's all they will be judging.
Not if it wins academy awards. It’s yet to be seen how bad this will be, if it wins more than 2 it’ll be a success

It makes no damn sense. You spend $30 million on an Oscar campaign (Netflix) and you don’t bother to vet your lead’s socials?? I think Saldaña has enough goodwill in the industry and made enough billions for Hollywood that she could still win a career achievement Oscar.
Netflix’s PR department is like their advertising department: practically nonexistent (unless you’re Stranger Things or the miniseries of the month)

This is how out of touch with the world Hollywood is.
Depends by you mean of what part of Hollywood. There have been years of controversial Oscars picks. The mass nomination of a French movie bought by Netflix just shows the power that Netflix has in campaigning.
This says nothing of out of touch and if you mean to comment how the Oscars should nominate based on popularity of the public then you just don't understand the oscars

Emilia Perez being nominated for best soundtrack and not Dune is a war crime.
Its Score not Soundtrack. Additionally Dune 2 was not eligible for a nomination. Get with the program.
as a trans woman who hated the movie I'm glad for your nuanced coverage that actually reflects what most of us said about it and doesn't just dismiss us as "woke"
I wouldn't be surprised if some Netflix exec thought the Queer Community would back the film. A very bold move to do for their crappy movie the same year as Wicked.
So enjoyable to watch the wokies freaking out about a forced woke movie which was nominated 13 times to appease them 😂
The most frustrating thing about this movie is that it took noms from other more deserving candidates in various categories.

Such a costly thing to skip
I have no idea, but I think maybe there was assumption that because of Gascon’s identity that she was default liberal. It’s kind of the meta of the controversy, because this idea that one marginalized part of your identity makes you a good person by default is one of the main criticisms of the plot of the movie, so it’s interesting that it might have been the same faulty thinking going on in real life too. These were not even old tweets they were only a couple years back so I feel no effort was taken at all to look at the kind of human Gascon is beyond her trans identity, which is exactly the issue with the script as well, super interesting imo.

Let us also not forget that the reason Selena Gomez was cast according to the Casting Director was beacuse there were no Mexican actors talented enough to portray her character.
😮 Emilia Pérez is not a Latin film. Stereotypes cannot convey the culture and soul of the Larino people. All our support for the film 'I'm Still Here' directed by Walter Salles.

Great video, Dan!
I’m generally not a fan of celebrity “drama,” especially when it comes to Hollywood, but you’ve done an excellent job covering this story-as well as the Baldoni vs. Lively situation-making it both engaging and easy to follow. Your coverage is factual, entertaining, and informative, perfect for those of us who want to stay informed but don’t have the time (or the desire) to sift through countless online sources.
Keep it coming!
So true! I don't seek it out but it sure is entertaining when Dan brings us the tea! 😂
This is why I love Dan. He only covers it when it reaches the level of news, and he covers it as news. This man is such a class act!
Well said! I wholeheartedly agree with you. I think Dan has a keen common sense and handles uncomfortable stories like this well
As mexicans we have been talking about how the movie, the director and Karla Sofía are tone deaf in a lot of ways. It was really impressive to see that nobody in the United States of America was aware of this or even talking about. It took a reporter to air out her tweets for the world to see that she is a really despiteful person and is always playing the victim. Even the Selena follower accounts on twitter stopped defending the movie when a Karla´s tweet was talking about Selena in a despiteful way.
I need to see that. I’m just curious, not gossipy, lol.
You had a lot of faith in the USA. The Academy a lot of times tends to praise movies that seem progressive without ever caring what the people the movie is representing think. This time it was us mexicans getting that awful treatment. And this time really was a new low
The Selena Gomez tweet was false, tho
Dan, I like your style. So respectful but never lukeworm. And thanks for saying “Emilia PÉrez” and not “Emilia PeRÉZ” like everybody else. Greetings from Argentina.
Esto! Se sintió tan bien escuchar que lo diga correctamente!
I find baffling Gascon believes someone would need to buy a team to smear her name. It's a organic because she's a terrible person.
Spaniards and racism, name a more iconic duo.
Dan's "Hot Frosty" video is a tongue-in-cheek masterpiece.
Thank you Dan for pronouncing "PÉrez" correctly. I know it might be tricky for english speakers but it's nice to hear it being said right
I was saying it wrong at first but, unlike the Academy it seems, I did listen to feedback from my Spanish-speaking viewers.
Omg I'm so glad you mentioned Johanes Sacrebleau. The entire concept of it is hilarious
16:58 Zoey Saldana deserves best actress for that answer alone, thats like watching a gymnast perform a flawless routine while dodging knives and flames and lions.
Zoe Saldaña doesn't deserve anything just because she defends her support to a film that trashes an entire community (LatAm), a group that she has usurped time and time again as a US citizen for her own benefit. Same with the billionaire Waverly Place actress and her crocodile tears.
If Emilia Perez wins anything, it'll be known forever that the Oscars are r*cist trash.

This is such an overreaction. Oscars have been on almost a century. There have been many weird and questionable choices. Many controversies. Harvey weinstein tactics. If the emilia perez news is first you noticed you just haven't been paying attention.

It would be so satisfying seeing Flow and The Substance get all the awards; while Emilia Pérez only gets Best Supporting Actress because Zoe Saldaña deserves it after surviving this shitshow.
It’s true. In that context, I wouldn’t mind. They just have to engrave “SURVIVOR” on it or something. Zoe Saldaña should get an award for the industry itself. After waiting so long, I regret for her win to be stained in any way.
I am not sure Saldana deserves it at all. It is an impressive performance but so are a lot of others. She is the lead actress (literally) in a worthless movie, so what did she really accomplish? She obviously didn't save it.
@@chrisf5828 What about an honorary award for surviving that circus?
@@Alejandroigarabide between this and that Nina Simone biopic, I honestly think Saldana needs to go outside and think about her life choices for a minute
The first thing I heard about this movie was the Mexican parody of it, Johanne Sacrebleu lmao
Thanks Dan, I'm Mexican, and Emilia Perez is a mockery of our culture and language, and the fact that the academy ignores our opinion about a movie that takes all from Mexico makes us feel completely ignored, and that the opposite of representation.
We were gaslighted for months before this many people noticed...
Thank you, Brazil!
@victorsimoneen3771 you have to remember that they only care about representation from the "right" minorities trans, black but Mexicans we are not the "pretty" minorities
There's no Mexican culture, because Mexico's culture is historically Eurocentric owing to the fact that Mexico is a former colony of Spain and retained many cultural aspects of Spain long after independence. Even Spanish is a European language.
@@gloriathomas3245 The United States has no culture either because we're just a melting pot of immigrants from around the world.
If you want a REAL (and good) Mexican film about Mexican drug cartel violence, see El Infierno (2010). Darkest humor ever, but also quite touching
I still can't believe they didn't give challengers a nomination but gave this film THIRTEEN
Good catch up on all this. Welcome to the party, Dan! One of us! One of us!
I’m betting most Academy voters who selected Emilia Perez for nominations didn’t actually see it, but heard Netflix’s publicity push and reflexively voted to nominate because they didn’t want social media groups calling them transphobic.
I think it's less that, and more that they saw it as some "symbolic resistance" to all of the shit going down under Trump and conservative attacks on trans rights. Of course, Hollywood is comprised of out of touch idiots who think that their approval of a movie they didn't see would somehow benefit trans people in any way, let alone that the movie is so shit it's genuinely offensive to the trans community for its depiction of them.
They probably just saw keywords like; “Mexican cartel”, “Musical” and “Transgender” and thought; “SLAAAYY! 13 nominations, bitch!”
🎯
And most people that "hate" the movie haven't seen anything besides clips on twitter sooo
Wait, wait...Selena Gomez is the ex-wife?! I thought for sure she had to be Emilia Perez's daughter. That's just another stupid-sounding thing about this movie.
yeah, the reason she seems so young in comparison is because they reveal in like the last minutes of the movie that emilia groomed selena’s character and married her when she was a teenager 💀
Even with the sex change, Perez bangs another woman on the side. To make it even better, a woman whom had someone killed by his Cartel. You can't make this shit up, this is literally part of the film.
@@theprowler18 Oh so he has heterosexual sex. How revolutionary.
It seems like pressing that translate button in Gascon's tweet was just like a getting a death threat. It's so crazy that she hates literally everyone including Selena Gomez. The tweet seems a bit odd at first, until you clicked that translate button 😂😂
It'd be hilarious if the Oscars mix up the envelope again by saying Emilia Perez as the winner first because they read EP's Best International envelope win instead it should've gone to somebody else like The Brutalist or Conclave 😂
Please let this happen again, it's just a perfect timing 😂
No, no, no, just because there is a mexican actress this is not a mexican production, mexicans are despising this movie because it trivialized the narco situation, a lot of real mexicans lives are affected by the narco, the director didn't even do proper research, people who speak spanish can't even understand the dialogues, I'm glad of all the scandals because obviously in Hollywood they don't care about mexicans, but when the actual actors are shooting themselves in the foot, and actually you should see the comments from the trans girl that did the parody, and no he didn't apologized, he did the classic "I'm sorry if my movie makes you feel bad"
Say it 🗣️🗣️🗣️
Great video Dan, I'm glad you held off so you could cover just how crazily this whole campaign unravelled.
Also in the Movie Chain “Cinépolis” they market Emilia Pérez as a guarantee good movie and a lot of people ask for refunds, on a level that even PROFECO (goverment protector of consumer goods) intervene so they give the money back, it’s been a blast
The problem here is that those people don't understand that by doing that they're still counting that ticket as a watch for that disgusting home-video manure; in the production's distorted mind it looks like a success, and that cinépolis doesn't loose anything (their profit comes from the food they sell there, not from the movie's proyection).
This is the only time that I'll agree to use your most trusted buccaneer to watch it and not give them a dime.
@@cinthyaoceguera4321 I'm just glad they got their money back for this piece of garbage movie
I was so waiting for you to post about this because you always enter situations looking at every point of view and respectful as possible, and I always appreciate it. Never telling people how to think about a situation just giving them all the materials to make their own conclusions.
Your were right, something else happened just today 😅 Karla arranged an hour long TV Interview with CNN (seemingly on her own, without consulting the movie team), basically making things worse 😅😅 the video is great anyway!! Love your approach to all these recent movie controversies!
What a mess, and its largely self-inflicted. Reminds me of that meme of the guy putting a stick through the spokes of his bike tire, falling over and then saying "why have you done this?" I will say that it's supremely fortunate that this happened to a film that has so many issues to begin with, perhaps the Oscars dodged a self-inflicted bullet (hopefully they aren't so deaf and blind as to still give it awards).
It's insane to think that the chances of Emilia Perez winning Oscars dropped so low this quickly by its own hurdles. I can't think of any other movie bringing me this much entertainment without watching that I didn't even knew existed a few weeks ago
The Best Actress Oscar Nom needs to be revoked. You cannot have that woman represented at the awards.
I mean this is the same academy that nominated Mel Gibson 10 years ago and Roman Polanski lol they’re not gonna change
You can only revoke a nomination if they broke academy rules, which I don't think they did, even though it seems like everyone who made that movie is a shit person lol
@@mcwyman7928The attacks on Torres are a gray area in terms of legality, so... I don't know which way they will go.
How many times have Academy Award nominations been revoked in history? Even if you take it back, what's done is done when the voting window open.
@@hanonaputrus54443Polanski is a criminal but once Peter Jackson was not nominated his Oscars were well deserved.
You forgot the whole drama with “Cinepolis” the main movie theater chain in Mexico. Basically Cinepolis calls each movie in their theaters a “guaranteed film”. However, under Mexican law every service or product with a “guaranteed” label is up for consumer scrutiny and if the consumer doesn’t like it he or she is entitled for a refund. So people in Mexico after watching this movie in theaters ( the movie was only in theaters and not on Netflix in México) where asking for their money back in rows lol. It got so bad that the Mexican government had to intervene.
Excellent update. Thank you!!
I don’t think Karla Sofia Gascon understands what the word “racist” means. Islam is not a race.
from the screen junkies days till now Dan Murrell is always earning our respect and is always ready to deep dive... Its such a relief you exist Dan!
Just two weeks ago, I was contemplating not watching the Oscars because it seemed like Emilia Pérez’s dominance at the ceremony was almost guaranteed. Now, I’m really interested because with it seemingly becoming the black sheep of the night, it blows so many categories wide open. I’m also VERY interested to see how the ceremony navigates trying to honor the film and Gascon specifically after everything that has happened. It’s such a shame because, even if the film is reviled, we should still be celebrating Gascon’s achievement! But she just had to tweet those tweets :/ it’s so unfortunate.
Love that you waited so the video could be as up to date as possible, and the morning it drops, Karla is on CNN Español breaking down and making her bad Instagram statement look composed by comparison. The industry never sleeps, I guess 😂
We mexicans believe del toro and other mexicans in hollywood are defending Emilia Perez because they are afraid that if they speak wrong about someone in the industry they could be black listed or could have some kind of trouble (Del Toro’s next movie is going to be distributed by netflix for example).
Actor and director Eugenio Derbez criticized Selena Gomez acting and recieved so much hate he had to apologize even when pretty much all mexicans supported him for saying that (even when eugenio isn’t really liked in mexico)
