- * * Check the latest Everything Counts cover here: • DX5 playing Depeche Mo... * * *
There are two sounds sampled from the original: the famous metallic-reverberated sound at the beginning and the previous one before the chorus.
*There are a few wrong notes on the final solo
Equipment:
Emu Emax, with sampled sounds coming from a JX-8P and DX7 II, and library (including bassdrum and snare).
Yamaha DX7 II FD.
(this setup is the same Andy Fletcher and Alan Wilder played on MFTM Tour)
Roland JP8000 (midi sequenced)
Kurzweil PC1x
Backtrack running in Pro Tools with Reason re-wired.
Composed by Martin L. Gore.
Isn´t it strange though that Martin was a much worse musician than Alan. Martin usually plays with one hand, sometimes adding a key or two with the other hand. Alan was playing and you could see that it was just too easy for him. But as a composer Martin has this enormous talent to write songs that Alan simply doesn´t have. What a collaboration it was though. One writes a great tune. And second makes it sound like no other electronic band. Alan made great tunes sound even better. Add Dave´s voice and you add even more quality. Neither of the three was replacable. They can bring in young producers with their teams of engineers but the songs just lack something. Depth, atmosphere, uniqueness
Good input. My favourite producers in the post-Alan era are Tim Simenon, Ben Hillier and Kurt Uenala
@@DX5 Same thing with Vince. i was watching a documentary a while ago, and he was saying that he only took piano lessons a few years ago, because "he felt he should"! Yes Alan is classically trained , but Vince (for me) is the synth pop king. I think Alan contributed maybe more than people know. Especially around the 'Black celebration' era. His Emax sample collection was extensive when it all went up for auction.
A small part of DM died when Alan left.... they've put out good stuff since (mostly Playing the Angel and Sounds of the Universe), but it's not the same as it was from '83-93
@@AdamG1983 Agreed 100%. I love Martin's work, but Alan brought a sound that was simply incredible. It's just too bad that after he left, we didn't get to hear too much more from him. His Recoil project was decent, but I felt nowhere near as epic as when he was with DM. To this day I dream of Alan releasing an album that would show us just where DM would have been had he stayed.
that is the pure genius of Depeche Mode as well as bands like Erasure of which Vince Clarke was an original member and New Order and many others.
DM is the god of synth pop 1981 to present. How they got into this synth voices and make it sound so great is amazing. My fave from Construction Time Again.
GOOD LORD, alan wilder would be proud ...
amazing :))))
Then you've probably not listened to the entire song... sad
Awesome job! I love this group so much! I don’t think there will be another group as cool as Depeche Mode!
This dude is so freakin' good. Sometimes, it's just awesome just listenning to the music without hearing the lyrics and this dude prooves just that...
It's one of my favorite songs by Depeche Mode
My GF knows when I listen to your tracks mate, cause it is when I sit there with my headphones on and sing along (you might guess how aweful that sounds :D )... great work again and again!

Knocked this out of the park! 4:42 on you played it so well!!
The PC1x sound is sooo simply beautiful.
Thanks a lot!
for the love of music, it doesn't really matter if there are those not satisfied by the way you cover DM songs, you are great, and there's talent there... you can't please everyone, but you can made a difference with the rest who hear you play as solid as this... kudos...
Spot on, I can see Dave waving his microphone out to the crowd !
This song got me to try my hand at the keys for the first time since childhood just a moment ago. Glad to find your video.
ONE YEAR LATER..... STILL AMAZING!
This is such an amazing performance; this is great. The whole song was perfectly performed, this song has a lot of different instruments on it; and you were able to play all the melodies, GREAT!
Thanks but several sounds were raw and not much accurate. It was done quickly
Hands down....impressing....really! Good drum sound choice also...Respect!
Wow, it's like looking behind the curtain. Illuminating stuff DX5 - I thank you!
this rocks I don't see why anyone would "dislike" this
very cool, nice to hear you capture the soul of the song!
Veramente bravo 👏 ...spettacolo!🔝🏆
The multilevel arrangement is AW's great achievement. And you emulate it in a perfect manner exposing all the bounty of the Sound and allowing me to see what Ive always expected and imagined. Congratulations.
Thank you !
Thank you for your performance and passion for the music, in particular for DM...!!! Anto' and Maelle.
this is the best cover video i've seen on youtube, masterpiece!
awsome i keep playing this❤
so many friends and so many enemies i met in the 80's. i've met the Vance Brothers: Victor and Lance Vance, Phil Cassidy, Umberto Robina, and many others. i suffered with vic vance when Louise died. we have been trough many things in Vice City. we were betrayed by Jerry Martinez and The Mendez Brothers: Armando and Diego Mendez. we were also set up by Brian Forbes. i also met some jerks like: Marty J Williams. together with Vic vance, we helped Reni Wassulmayer. we also met a real life star from UK: Phil Collins, and many more things like a short friendship with Gonzales, some favors for Ricardo Diaz, and more. this and this music in special is what makes Vice City Stories so nostalgic and so hearthwarming for me. the first gta game i have finished. Thank you Rockstar Games, for making our favorite gta games: GTA 3, GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas, GTA Liberty City Stories and GTA Vice City Stories.
Martin in all his glory
Even though it's old....LOVE IT!
How can people give this a thumbs down ?
+Engelbert Delrosario Fuckin morons .
Cause they are idiots.

In large amounts.
I really liked this version. Thank you.
really nice work from a BIG DEPECHE fan..
Wow that is really good! You did the work of three, or maybe I should say two. This just proved that Fletch does nothing.
captaingish It didn't
captaingish no it doesn't lol
you’re wrong, very wrong.
Very nice version, I really like when you make the backing tracks like this, powerful sound so weel produced.
Saludos de nuevo!
Wunderbar, my friend! You certainly looked far less bored than you did during "Enjoy The Silence", with far more input required in this song!
''Everything Counts'' and ''Policy of Truth'' are two of my favourites DM songs and let me tell you that, the way you play them is trully AMAZING. Have you ever played ''Things you Said'' ? I thing you should try it, I don't have any doubt you would play it excellent . Congratulations DX5 and keep rocking !!!
DAMN ! ! ! ! ! ! that is very cool bro.
GReat!!! i love this song.
Love checkin out your Mode vids. Thanks!

This is F#cking Awesome! Great Job!
I vote for you as the successor of GORDENO !!!
Excellent!! You are very talented.
dude, that was awesome.
The sample comes from the Live Album 101. Not the video version..you have find the audio version of it! (amazon.d_e/101-Live-Depeche-Mode/dp/B0000242A4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1377986670&sr=8-3&keywords=depeche+mode+101)
Good job, very accurate!
Mogę tylko powiedzieć - Kocham Cię za to co zrobiłeś ;) Jedziesz długo ;)
Wpadnij do Basildon ;)
you are a depeche mode member !!
You put my words in your mouth. Exactly that is.
Think I just sampled two sounds, I don't know what would happen if all sounds were sampled or "General Midied":)
Awesome! Looking forward to the Depeche Mode concert in Dallas.
Most of the DM sounds are part of the Emulator II library. DM themselves transfered those patches to the Emax I and II.
Thanks to you, I hope to give the urge to play the synthesizer to my little boy 5 years.
From Paris ;)
Some magnificent performance in this video. I'm both very impressed and jealous that I can't do this myself!
YOUR BEST WORK EVER!!!
EXCELLENT !!!! Fantastico
Just... bravo!
very good, excellent
Wow amazing!!!!
Loved it. I'd love to see you do another one of Depeche Modes earlier tunes "Leave in Silence" or, "See You".
I love it!
DX5 and Alan Wilder thats the same, great Soundmans. Thanks for the fantastic Songs from you on my Car :-)
Very good, as usual
Excellent work. Sounds just like it.
Eres espectacular!! La recreacion es fiel a la original de DM. Y mira que he oido covers instrumentales por ahi, pero es que te sales de la escala en calidad!! Felicidades.
+1 for using the e-mu synth that depeche mode actually used in the 101 concerts.
Nice One-man-band setup here! All that's left needed to top it off is at least one vocalist and you could do a whole gig.
congratulations :D
in a old video interview, Jim Morisson said that, soon, a man could play music, alone with his machines
you did it (and thanks to DM) ;)
You are the ONE Man depeche Mode Project :-)
this is so AWSOME !!!!
I love watching your videos , you are my hero on keyboards :))
amazing i love all your vids
Well done!!! Sounds are accurate, even though not all notations are correct ;-) You actually play it more Gordeno Style than Wilder's. By the way, which base have you played on? I've never heard it before...
Master 👏👏👏👏👏
OMG you play the right stuff!
Love it ! Keep doing what makes you happy. We do the same at our studio sometimes, just have fun with whatever your doing. Talented dude . I wish I could just go to Ebay and buy me up some talent with a dash of showmanship, damm.
Really good one man band cover!
so nice!
the men-the machines!
You Got GREAT TASTE in Music! Thanks for sharing too!
I like it! Excellent Skills!
Yet another good one.
=3
keep up the beautiful work.
DX5 Soy tu fan! Mi admiración. Me gusta como ejecutas las de Depeche mode.
Thank GOD for youtube and YOU! I can tell you've spent a lot of time with your skills and set up, it sounds amazing, I LOVE DM, but not their unwillingness to let their too many of their songs out in the Karaoke world. Awesome job!
