Editors are a band that deserve more praise then they receive. They create music that stands out above the commercial crowd, that is by no means repitive as the TOP 10 chart in the UK, IRELAND And America. They are a 90s Band for the 2000s era which show no sign of selling out. Just great lyrics, great rythym and in a celebrity ego driven society the're just..... nice guys.
I’ve really no idea where the last 15-20 years have gone. So much has happened and changed, yet the years have flown by. Living standards have regressed to all time lows. The UK feels like a much bleaker, less hopeful place to inhabit. Civil liberties and democracy stolen from the people and only a post-truth dystopian landscape on the horizon. I’m really not looking forward to turning 40, but at least we have the music to remind us of the good times. I really feel for the kids of today who will likely never own a home or pay off their debts. How did we allow the UK to become an Orwellian cesspit of lies and corruption?
LOVE EDITORS!!! THEIR SOUND LIKE THEIR FROM ANOTHER LIFETIME TO ME!!! THATS WHY I LOVE THIER SOUND!!! and YEAH there is a hint of JOY that you can clearly HEAR!!! but STILL not another JOY!!!
I don't think that it's Gonna rain again today There's a devil at your side But an angel on her way Someone hit the light 'Cause there's more here to be seen When you caught my eye I saw everywhere I'd been And wanna go to You came on your own That's how you'll leave With hope in your hands And air to breathe I won't disappoint you As you fall apart Some things should be simple Even an end has a start Someone hit the light 'Cause there's more here to be seen When you caught my eye I saw everywhere I'd been And wanna go to You came on your own That's how you'll leave With hope in your hands And air to breathe You'll lose everything By the end Still my broken limbs You find time to mend More and more people I Know are getting ill Pull something good from the Ashes, now be still You came on your own That's how you'll leave With hope in your hands And air to breathe You'll lose everything By the end Still my broken limbs You choose to mend You came on your own That's how you'll leave You came on your own That's how you'll leave You came on your own You came on your own
There's a lot of great music like this in the Indie scene. Don't let the crap you hear on the radio turn you off. Music still exists, you just have to dig through the commercialism to get to it.
Fantastic Video, Amazing song. 'When you caught my eye, I saw everywhere I'd been and wanna go too. You came on your own...' What more do I need to say? The lyrics are great too. The band are a legend.
if i owned every single pair of stockings seen in this video, i'd be set for life, haha! this is one of my favourite editors songs, they're an amazing band.
WOW! I was watching AMC and heard this song in a commercial. I thought for sure it was an 80's song. Was I surprised to find it a current band out of England. I hear a lot of Bono in this song. They are coming to Chicago in Late January 2008 and I am going to get some tickets. This band could be huge. I am looking forward to the concert.
This song never gets old for me. Great song and video. I love the gothic, apathetic look of the women contrasting their brightly colored leggings and flamboyant dance moves. ^_^
this song is amazing! i've been listening to this band for a while, but for some reason i'd never seen the lead singer.. I love editors and all their songs. they are a great band. :)
i think this video is BRILLIANT!!! this song reminds me of living in Camen last year great memories. Werent the dancers in this video all models that had never danced before. i think that adds a different feel to it. very beautiful video
While it could be considered flattering for Tom, it's also quite a weight on his shoulders. I used to hear the strong JD influence in their music (certainly in Munich) but I think it's only fair to think of them more as a band in their own rights. There's no way their bass player sounds like Hookey.
Got even less airplay here in Australia than in other countries, I just happened to discover it on some random compilation CD that I bought from the bargain bin of a record store (remember those?!) for like five bucks. Banger of a tune. There was a bunch of other great bands on that album too... Bloc Party, Chemical Brothers, Ocean Colour Scene... I still own it. :)
nice song indeed.i first heard this early last summer on HBO when they were doing season finale promos for the sopranos. The video is also very good.simple, and very original.
I thought the same thing too. After I made the comment. I said, I hear Michael Stipe too. The lyrics are so REM. Great call. You have to admit a bit of Depeche Mode. Since I saw your name. Some Dave in that voice.
I listened to their album "The Back Room" extensively for a long time. Now Indie isn't my bag, I'm more of a metal guy but I really like their stuff (and no I'm not open to check out bands that sound like them). I heard that AMC commercial and couldn't be mistaken which band it was. Good show, AMC.
what a great song! i also like their attitude in making a weird and not that serious video to go along with it. Whether on purpose or not, it does not damage the qualities of this song. and just wait until you hear them preforming it live...
This song has so many great memories stuck to it, I just can't help but laugh and feel intensly happy listening to it! (I heard this song live at Pinkpop 2008, sun was shining, me and my best friend were lying in the soft grass...aah, thats what life should be!)
This song is SO good. i don't know what it is, but i can't stop listening to it. and this video is crazy, who would think up such a bizarre scene? Works really well though.
I saw them a few days ago live in Luxemburg. They really kick ass when they play live. I love their sound. Their lyrics are dark and at the same time filled with hope.

Edward Lay, one of the most underrated drummers of now times... My inspiration for taking up drums, Love him
This and Mr. Brightside are the ultimate British house party anthems.
why british?
Yeah boi. What about some of the wombats though?
😂 what ?

Looks like an ad for American Apparel tights!
I frigging love this singer. He's beautiful.
Fantastic song, great group, the leader is so charizmatic...
LOVE EDITORS!!! THEIR SOUND LIKE THEIR FROM ANOTHER LIFETIME TO ME!!! THATS WHY I LOVE THIER SOUND!!! and YEAH there is a hint of JOY that you can clearly HEAR!!! but STILL not another JOY!!!
Прекрасная песня!!! Спасибо большое 🖤
This is why I love music.. GREAT SONG AND GREAT BAND
My god, this song is one of the best ever.
I don't think that it's
Gonna rain again today
There's a devil at your side
But an angel on her way
Someone hit the light
'Cause there's more here to be seen
When you caught my eye
I saw everywhere I'd been
And wanna go to
You came on your own
That's how you'll leave
With hope in your hands
And air to breathe
I won't disappoint you
As you fall apart
Some things should be simple
Even an end has a start
Someone hit the light
'Cause there's more here to be seen
When you caught my eye
I saw everywhere I'd been
And wanna go to
You came on your own
That's how you'll leave
With hope in your hands
And air to breathe
You'll lose everything
By the end
Still my broken limbs
You find time to mend
More and more people I
Know are getting ill
Pull something good from the
Ashes, now be still
You came on your own
That's how you'll leave
With hope in your hands
And air to breathe
You'll lose everything
By the end
Still my broken limbs
You choose to mend
You came on your own
That's how you'll leave
You came on your own
That's how you'll leave
You came on your own
You came on your own
What an amazing song! I still listen to it today, his voice is one of the best!

Music still exists, you just have to dig through the commercialism to get to it.

Fantastic Video, Amazing song.
'When you caught my eye, I saw everywhere I'd been and wanna go too. You came on your own...' What more do I need to say? The lyrics are great too. The band are a legend.

Nice how right at the end of the song sounds like the intro to Joy Divisions 'Transmission'.........
He has a brilliant voice :o)
Poignant lyrics - really fantastic band, reminiscent of Joy Division in some respects. Full of emotion; intelligent lyrics.
The Editors friggin' rock...love 'em!

No doubt. It is nice to see the Brits are coming back with some great music. Too much american idol crap passes for music these days.
i listen to this song everyday
i think this video is BRILLIANT!!! this song reminds me of living in Camen last year great memories. Werent the dancers in this video all models that had never danced before. i think that adds a different feel to it. very beautiful video
I love this song and the video too! great
im in love with that song!!
Absolutely still sounding fresh today as it was years back 👌🏾👏🏾
The voice of this man is the Ghost of Ian Curtis Of Joy Division reincarnated who sadly left us 18Th May 1980......well and truly immense :)
While it could be considered flattering for Tom, it's also quite a weight on his shoulders.
I used to hear the strong JD influence in their music (certainly in Munich) but I think it's only fair to think of them more as a band in their own rights.
There's no way their bass player sounds like Hookey.
Such a great Pop song that just happened to fly under the radar of all the bullshit music that came out around that time.

I thought the same thing too. After I made the comment. I said, I hear Michael Stipe too. The lyrics are so REM. Great call. You have to admit a bit of Depeche Mode. Since I saw your name. Some Dave in that voice.

Everyone has their own opinion but this song, and the editors in general, are amazing. :))

Appeal of this vid!

live they are so amazing! ^^
I just heared it on AMC watching Cool Hand Look today. Since I'd never heard this song before, I first thought it was Kitchens of Distinction!

The editor's style and sound is perfect.
