    Why is he standing on top of plates for the front rack holds? Is it to force him to be on the middle of the foot?

    • @asherxs
      @asherxs Рік тому +12

      Gives him more height to prevent the bar from hitting the rack when dipping

    He's got one of the best looking squats I've ever seen. It's such a shame that his upper body can't match his crazy leg strength.

    • @benchgoblin
      @benchgoblin Рік тому +3

      Why is it such a shame, are they adding strict press back to the sport or something?

    • @felixr1306
      @felixr1306 Рік тому +9

      @@benchgoblinyou need some uperbody strength to catch/stabilize/hold the bar overhead. Tao is clearly struggling with that seeing how often he misses and how big his discrepancy is between his clean (max) and his jerk (max).

    • @tbrtw9789
      @tbrtw9789 Рік тому +6

      @@benchgoblinI believe it's more of a balance rather than a strength issue, but he's constantly missing snatches and jerks he should have made due to upper body instability.

    • @felixr1306
      @felixr1306 Рік тому

      @@tbrtw9789He could probably compensate for small timing/balance issues better with more uperbody strength also

    Chinese have to admit that squat jerk doesn't work.

      so lu xiajun squat jerk doesn't work? i don't understand your sentence

      Tian Tao doesn’t even squat jerk, he power jerks.

    • @IhorKramarenko
      @IhorKramarenko Рік тому

      @@jglg7238 it will work anyway you choose. With one foot, one arm but. If u want to lift as much as your body able, than squat jerk is bad idea. Sometimes it's enough to lift more than others can. But that means, that other athletes weaker. Squat jerk requires enormous effort to keep balance, it requires more than perfect technique. And for what? At that phase it's not a question will you stand up if catch a bar. 99% you will. And with squat jerk, it's not 99% sure you can catch the balance. They started very long time ago. When it was, probably politically important to have different approach, and be the best with it. And they still have those coaches. But about 5-10 years ago everything has changed for those who don't afraid to use modern tools to learn, to improve. With so many slow mo shots, environment, proven methods no more secrets left. And in the end, in jerk everything comes to one thing, solid balance position. And with squat jerk it is so hard to achieve. Because bar has frontal range of motion, and squat jerk has no support in this dimension. So, for Lu the problem not that squat jerk works better, they just don't train split jerk, so when you try, of course it's unusual and uncomfortable to give everything you have. But believe me, or u will witness yourself, next generation of Chinese will switch to split jerk
