DATING TIPS:
1. Don't date young - you're not yet matured
2. Don't date until you're ready to marry - it allows intentional living
3. Believe people just as how they show you - your instincts are right
4. Have a Purpose of dating - romantic relationships are consuming and call for compromises
5. Be Yourself, be still in your values - if they can't handle you, they're simply not for you
6. Take heed on whether the relationship elevates or shrinks you
7. Be Complete with/by yourself - dating doesn't equate to dependency

In terms of dating advice: Do NOT date young. Don’t loose your virginity morghul! Do not try that. Don’t even kiss them! Bathong nna I think I have PTSD 🤣😢🥺. Listen, as true Christians, we need to learn that we must do things intentionally. Don’t allow anybody to test drive you or use you in anyway. Maya Angelo said it: believe them the FIRST TIME. Ntwana do not ignore any red flag. Even an orange one! Bathong!!!

I am not a parent yet and my opinion might be based on my own naivety. My goal is to do my best to prepare my future children for life and for when they bump into walls. I believe that we are not raising children, we are raising adults, who will have their own views on dating and marriage.

I’ve always thought the same as Lerato on dating, but now I think the “looking/dating vs I’ve met someone I want to spend my life with” distinction changes with age. Then you are persuaded to date in the hopes of meeting the person, rather than hoping they drop from the sky.

I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation. I am 23 years old, have done the dating thing ALL WRONG from a very young age. I am just glad that I'm finally at a point where I've decided that I need to find myself and better myself before attempting another relationship because as you've mentioned, relationships are so consuming. Malcom X said, "A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything." and that sums up my dating history. So many unnecessary compromises and being led in weird directions simply because I had no idea of who I am, what I want for myself and letting relationships define me. This conversation has been so affirming and the timing couldn't have been better, because I know 20 year old me most probably wouldn't have listened because at that age, I really though I knew it all and had this life thing all figured out😂
Thank you once again for a lovely installment. My take on going out and dating is always stay true to yourself, don't forget where u come from as well. I have a 26 year old daughter who is dating an amazing guy. He is a very quiet somebody whilst my daughter is the out going loud type (good loud ). I would often ask this guy what is it that you see in my daughter and he would respond saying - she is true to herself, she loves herself, she is a go getter, independent but most importantly she brings out the best in me. Well I agree with what you said, I started dating my partner when I was in matric and we dated for 5 years before we took things to another level.
We’ve been through trials and tribulations but we’ve been Happily married for 9 years. I’m note entirely sure whether I knew what I was getting myself into or even who I was but I have and still am on a journey of discovering myself.

I’m really grateful for this instalment 😅 but this is just my personal experience… so I started dating at a really young age and that was 11 honestly it was one of the best things I realized because I got to learn a lot from it like to be more emotionally strong, I got to learn to differentiate feelings from guys that might be lying they had feelings for me. I was more mature and made all the mistakes I had to make and learnt from it and when I grew up I was able to make decisions and know what I want and my worth and wasn’t in a rush to make any wrong decisions as I was now in the real world. This was what worked for me and I’m happy I went through that process 😅

Thank you guys.A lot of what you said resonated with me.Its amazing how one day I took a walk early hours of the morning and I clearly heard God say to me, None will make you whole, you cant expect anyone to come and make you whole.Work on your self.I made a lot of changes during the Lock down.Now the confidence i have within my self is up there.Thanks to Jesus who loves me so much as i was so broken, and with no confidence but now OH MY.I even tell myself I am hot where as i couldnt tell myself that before.I lost my self too along the way but I am glad that Jesus helped me through and now i can encourage someone too.God bless you two.I love the wisdom that you share and I pray that i will have the confidence that you have to share to a greater audience.

My biggest fear is raising daughters because as a women I know what teenage girls go through. God blessed me with a boy but I think this conversion applies to Boys as well. you guys are doing well and I wish someone had had this conversation with me when i was younger.
