Ice is a good branch here, most of the tech companies allow ice to sit in the campus placements.

It depends upon the availability of the seats in the desired branch and it is allotted on the basis of cg.

I think it's through gate to get admission in NITs for Mtech but I have talked to a Mtech guy , he said NITJ allows seats without gate also , but fees would be higher in that case!
