As someone who did and retired 3 yrs ago. It was great. Still in my 40’s and don’t have to work if i don’t have to. Wife just retired 3 months ago and she is in the same boat. We both in our 40’s and chilling like a villain. If you don’t have anything going for you out here. Why not get some experience until you are able to do what you really want.
Let’s stalk about people getting killed in war. As someone who been there twice. Most of my former friends from where I grew up know more people who have been shot or killed than I do. So do the math.
I learned that in boot camp in Perris island. . 22 yrs later glad I stayed in. Not retired chilling. It’s what you make of it. I learned that the hard way. Once I followed rules and regulations. Things and promotions start coming.
5 years active duty Army Mortar infantry and deployed twice to Iraq then 6 years in the Reserves as Military Intelligence and went to South Korea several times. Infantry was the fun, simple but mostly hyper vigilante life and Intel had a more super chill, collegial atmosphere where I got to travel to more places for training and worked more with different military branches and gov't agencies both foreign and domestic. Most days the Army makes you question the day you decided to enlist and say to yourself repeatedly "FML I should've gone Air Force". But it was the most amazing and rewarding experience of my life and would do it all again the exact same way...except buying that bad batch of Grey goose at the small shopette omg bad bad stomach flu for days. My advice to future soldiers Stick to Class Six for all your essential beverage needs.
Been living the military life for almost 16 years. Yes the military is hurry up and wait. I watched hubby basic DVD that dril Sergeant looked at the camera then say look at this joker because dude could not climb the wall. My hubby got stories that he tells to this day.
"Ain't got nothing else to do" is literally the reason my dumbass enlisted at 19. And yet here I am still in 18 years later, an Officer with a Masters degree. I'll just say it can work out very well if you put in the effort and make the right moves.
@@snaketooth0943 nah most likely you’ll get out and be depressed. Seen far too many people get out of the military with no plan and they just end up playing themselves
@@snaketooth0943 if your dumb and just cruise for a few years, generally the worst is that you get out with some good education benefits and a VA loan that makes buying a house a lot easier.
We had a fat kid fall out of a morning PT run when I was in basic and our drill sergeant made us form a circle and run around him while he lay there in the fetal position crying. I've heard things are alot easier these days.
The military is not for everyone.I did 6 yrs in US Navy and 6 yrs US Army and had a BLAST!!! Plenty of GOOD and BAD memories.Been to soooooo many different countries and dated sooo many FINE women.Had soooo many WILD-TIMES!!! LOL!!! I was soooo wild in tha army my friend's wives didn't want me around their HUSBANDS!!! That Sgt Morgan does nothing but chase skirts, that's what the wives said about me.They were right on POINT!!!! LOL!!! The military is what you make it,you have to have a strong mind and will to do this.
I ain't American, I'm British and I used to see adverts for the British army or navy a lot. When I saw them, they were always so praising but I always thought to myself "half the people who sign up get blown apart in some war over oil." I thought for a moment you were gonna praise the American army because you're American but boy was I wrong. Thanks fopr surprising me, but in fairness I should have guessed that if anyone had the guts to trash-talk the American army in America, it'd be you guys.
Just remembering how the Army National Guard, Navy and Marine recruiters came to my high school, would take a select few students outta class ( I was one) and would have a presentation reminding us the military was an option. That was 10 years ago. Fuck if a recruiter says "are you sure?" in 2021, something must be horribly wrong 😂😂 outside of the rape and "dont ask dont tell" culture.
Yeh my bros went in the army, both came out too (the one dishonorably discharged), i tried to tell them. These days what with all the BS of ISIS (remember them?), Taliban, Al Qaeda, majority of people in society have become greatly disillusioned with "War" and the Military. All i can say is if you're thinking about going in, educate yourself on what exactly you're truly fighting for.
He can apply for UPS and be packages carrier, then apply for college and become a stock broker a financial advisor. My plan was originally go to the National Guard after high school. But now I want to slowly climb to the top. I want to go to ups, work there for two years unti I’m 21, go into the police academy and become someone I’ve wanted.
That's so pathetic. You have to wonder how insecure that Sergeant and other people in power are to think it's okay to beat the ever living hell out of your own troops. Fight the enemy, not each other FFS. I'm not excusing the other man's actions, but if you think the only way to teach your troops a lesson is by assaulting them, you've already lost.
It's almost like they're trying to prepare them for the hardships of war... crazy theory I know, after all war is like taking a few punches too the face right?
give a no-bullshit effort to study for the asvab and get one of the jobs with real marketable skills. don't come out of there and think _now i'll get an education_ when you could've been picking up highly lucrative skills the whole time
Really guys? I'm not some uber patriot freedom fighter or anything, but I can't believe the lack of disrespect for those who choose to literally put their necks on the line for our safety.
I dont think they're disrespecting vets and active duty theyre just syaing they dont think its a good fit for julian especially considering the reasons he said he wanted to go
It's funny how their acting like Kwame Brown isn't relevant enough to talk about. Now that there's a black dude talking about real issues on UA-cam you guys decide to ignore. That's weird

Funny enough the reason he wants to join is the reason I did and did not regret a day in uniform.

Same here the US seems to like to mess with my culture then they complain when we complain
