I used to think Bill Nye the science guy was the best educational show by far being an american but now discovering you guys i love this show even though im a grown man now, you guys really give bill a run for his money
Not often in the shoot. We would spend a fair bit of time in the days before, trialling segments, making intermediate stages (here's one I prepared earlier) etc so that the shoot was pretty quick. We only had around 4 hours to make each half-hour episode, so we couldn't affiord to have too many slip ups during filming. Rob
Thanks. Curiosity Show was a national science program featuring Dr Rob Morrison and Dr Deane Hutton. It was made in Adelaide, South Australia and screened nationally in Australia as well as in Europe, Asia and Australasia (14 countries and dubbed in German for Europe) from 1972-1990. Deane and Rob intentionally used everyday items around the house (like old rusty cans) so that people could repeat the demonstrations with materials they had to hand. In 1984 Curiosity Show won the Prix Jeunesse International, the world's top award for TV programs for young people. Rob and Deane are steadily uploading segments at ua-cam.com/users/curiosityshow Why not subscribe?
Been absolutely loving this show for the last few months. I know it's an old show... But this background hissing noise is pretty unbearable 😂. I'll catch you all in the next one! ❤️
This just made me realize all those people who claim "telekinesis" with foil on a pin are frauds. It's the heat from their hands, not their minds lmao. Soemone should make a tiktok about this and expose them xD
This was around the era when tv presenters in Australia were finally starting to be allowed to have Aussie accents. But quite a few, like Rob, still had accents that were more English in nature, especially more ‘posh’ sounding accents. For decades, Aussie movie and TV stars had to hide their ‘ocker’ (Aussies know what I mean) accents, or have a much more British aristocratic background. You can see that Dean was much more of the ‘bloke’ accent, but a decade earlier he would never have gotten that gig.
Thanks Deanne and Rob, these clips take me back to a better time in life
This was recommended to me and I can’t stop watching theses videos
Same
I'm 61 and I'm going to try it!
I tried it! I made a few, some better than others. And, yes, they can run on the heat of your hands!

"Even the breeze of talking upsets it, so don't" - same here, aluminum foil propeller.
Try it on your hot handed, but silent friends.
Or to see if people are "full of Hot Air" 😉
Those Black and Gold aluminium foil boxes haven't changed much in 30ish years.
my cousin is watching this and I got a glanced at the part he was folding the foil, i was alarmed and thought i need to rehab my cuz
Another winner! Thank You.
Yeah Scandinavian origin, the Swedes even makes submarines with sterling engines today!
Try it on your warm blooded friends!
4:25 I like to think this was a four-and-a-half-minute setup for telling someone to shut up.
Ah yes the sturling engine. Those are really cool.
Physics. Your amazing friend.
We had one that looked just like that angel one.
Don’t talk fellas, It disturbs the fan.
Why they are still recording in old camera
How many times did you need to ditch and throw away your work for this segment?

Wackachockawovkachocka!
👍👍👍👍
2:27 why not use a small piece of paper that's folded in half a couple of times? It would be stiff, and much thinner than the pencil.
It may have some to do with how metal reacts to heat.
bro why is this in my recomended?
Could this be an attempt for a perpetual motion machine?
if you have a perpetual heat source...
0:20 so a propeller makes the whole device gay? Like, it is attracted to boys or?

@@sean---the-other-one Deane and, especially Rob have strong Adelaide accents. Very noticeable with those "posh" overtones.
