I'm so excited for Dune Part 2 so I thought I'd make a medley of the first film. I cheated a little bit as I included the variation of the Atreides theme that we hear in the trailer for Dune Part 2. I thought it was so beautiful and dramatic and it added just the perfect touch in the medley.
Tracks included:
-Paul’s Dream
-Herald of the change
-Holy War
-House atreides
-Dune 2 trailer 3 (A time of quiet between the storms)
-Ripples in the sand
-Leaving Caladan
Hope you guys like it!

The dune soundtrack really sets the mood of the movie. It also captures the desert really well. I'm really excited for part 2s soundtrack and your piano arrangements of it!
1:42 That smooth but sudden transition gave me chills, great job!
Knowing that Dune is an Epic itself made this more epic!
This is amazing! The word 'amazing' doesn't even start to describe how awesome this is! This was also all in one take, and you didn't have any mistakes! It sounds just like the soundtrack, and that's hard because the soundtrack has a bunch of weird instruments and tech involved to make it sound like it does, but this was SO GOOD on the piano! Arranging it yourself must've taken a long time. You nailed it!
2:52 love the unexpected note
I don't like reading sheet music but i listened to this specific adaption so much to play it by ear :)
So good! 👏 dune has such a good soundtrack. Can’t wait to watch the second part and see what the new soundtrack will be. 😬😁
I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR A DUNE PIANO COVER LIKE THIS THANKS SO MUCH :)
The score in this rendition was simply amazing. Hopefully Hans Zimmer received an Oscar for this.
Epic and amazing as always! I'm really excited for Part 2 too, I'm watching it tomorrow. Will you do some covers of tracks from Part 2?
Yes of course! But ill wait after I’ve seen the film to start listening to the music
Amazing, what an arrangement!
потрясающе!
this is INSANE!
“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
Bene Gesserit ritual phrase
Epic indeed ❤
Superb
Loving it
This arrangement is pretty good and I wouldn’t really change the notes much, but I do think maybe varying the tempo and accentuating the changes in volume would’ve made it better, as opposed to how it is in the video where the whole piece is pretty much just mezzopiano mezzoforte and forte
Otro buenísimo trabajo Laurie, está muy muy bien, ha sido genial, enhorabuena y gracias por compartir tu música y talento, like 16
I love the piano... but this soundtrack doesn't translate well to the instrument.
Doesnt really translate to any one instrument that well. That's kinda the point of it.
Go check Patrik pietschmann's arrangement, sounds very well on the piano
@@Velnoxi was just about to link his dune cover, it is angelic to me!
Sheets on Musicnotes? How is any ordinary human supposed to play this 😅
Props to you, Laurie 😀 Another great performance!
I myself am currently working on the Rohan Suite (each day for ~6 weeks now) and I'm learning so much in trying to get a satisfying result for myself. It will take some more months I suppose. Cannot dream of achieving anything as challenging as this version of the DUNE-Theme, though 😇
Soon! I don’t have time right now I’m stuck on a work contract but I’ll write them as soon as I can
I wasn't expecting to get Gershwin vibes.
Very nice
Perfect
The music like : Once upon a Time in the West
Super underrated comment ❤
I was thinking exactly the same. And by the way, like "The name of the rose"
Very nice cover with very clear bass notes, can i ask what vst you're using, it would help a lot
Vst?
piano sound, i mean@@LaurieTheberge
Grand piano in Ableton
I hope the sheetmusic will be on musicnotes soon :)
Im stuck on a work contract until friday but ill write them next weekend
Hey, it sounds absolutely amazing, as I'm listening to it on my surround sound system. Also, like I asked last video, would you mind taking a listen and try learning Luminary by Joel Sunny? It's beautiful, but it's not an easy thing to play by ear, like I've been trying do.
I’ll keep it in mind for after all my Dune 2 covers
@@LaurieTheberge thank you so much!
Could you play Hedwig's Theme
please ❤
Reminds me of Westworld
So what is the track that you're covering? You mentioned that you included a variation of the Atreides theme, but never mention the actual song you're covering.
I added the track list in the description
It’s pretty clearly a medley of many songs from the Hans Zimmer soundtrack from the first movie. It’s not one song exactly like you’re asking. The atreides bagpipe theme when landing in Arakkis was just past midway and was pretty quick. That’s the only real atreides theme.
@@abexx17 sorry I don’t study a movie’s soundtrack to know that…thanks though 🙄
Actually the atreides theme is the one track called ‘house atreides’ from the dune sketchbook album released before the movie. You can also hear it on the main album in ‘armada’. The variation is the main theme from the second film ‘a time of quiet between the storms’ which is basically Chani’s theme as explained by Villeneuve
2:30
1:10 - 1:40 looks like Interstellar
preserve your water, my friend. That looked tiring!
Hans is ripping off The Man With the Harmonica and/or Don Giovanni again.
Tbh not a fan of the soundtrack. I mean it did it's job and set the mood and setting well, just can't really stand alone from the movie
I'm not a fan of Hans Zimmer in general precisely for that same reason. But this time around I gotta disagree. I actually can't imagine any other soundtrack with this adaptation of Dune. This one I really enjoyed.
@@wittmanjosuecamposguzman4831 Ur not wrong it fits the movie great, just not a fan of it on its own
This is what actually makes me love Zimmer more than most. He doesn't write stand alone "pieces" that could be played by an orchestra and sound good. He doesn't write big bombastic instantly recognizable songs like Williams. He writes subtle, he writes for the movie, He writes a score not a song. He plays into the emotions, He playes into the scene. That being said, I could listen to any of his soundtracks eternally. But his work is a lot more subtle and less in your face.
@@blueangels111 Well said, and I must agree totally. While quite a few of his soundtracks I could very well listen to alone, they're not made for it, they're made for the movie, and you're right thats what makes him so good
This is not for piano. It's not even 10% of the epic-ness.
Thank you
What was your thought process behind commenting this?
@@commanderlego6115 what is to explain? Some soundtracks are same when translated to piano only and some are so complex that it's not worth it. Dune is the latter in my opinion. The piano version was doing the original no justice by far.
You get the feelings when you’re the one playing I can tell you. It’s incredibly powerful and fun to play
@@LaurieTheberge I don't play any instrument. I am saying as a listener. In this particular piece it's the human voice that give it its power and try as you may piano can't reach it.
It's like the Witcher intro or the Host of Seraphim.
