I’m glad I found your channel. I have been on keto for a while, but started cycling a little over a year ago. Was telling my husband the other night that when I do my longer rides, I just feel out of gas, and feel like I need to incorporate a little bit of carbs the night before my rides. Gonna try this!

This week came the results of my blood and my triglycerides appear 250 (150 is normal). Doctor told me to cut all the carbs asap. Right now in my second day and I'm on withdrawal. It's like an addict hitting the wall. Guess you don't know how addictive it's sugar until you cut it for once.

      C. Medina thanks for watching. The first month is really hard but it does get easier if you're doing for the right reasons that will make it easier, too. You should research the low GI diet, many studies show it's effect on cholesterol

My pleasure to watch your videos(BTW my ex nickname was hidden children if you remember).
I'm doing for the good reason to not have a heart disease in the future.
I seeing many videos lately of carbo loads and stuff, but it's not for everybody. I'm glad I did a blood test, who knows what will happen to me in the hills one day thinking I'm eating right like the rest of the cyclists.

About a hundred days ago, I got a death sentence; 11.0 blood sugar, high cholesteral and a 190/140 blood pressure reading. Even though I felt perfectly fine, the doc told me I was going to spend the night with him if my pressure didn't drop after he gave me a heart pill. I knew this day would come and I was ready for it. I turned it all around.
Blood pressure now averages around 120/75, cholesterol dropped significantly and I've reversed my Type 2 Diabetes and am now back to normal blood sugar levels while eating pretty much anything I want. I cut out salt, caffeine & sugar, I upped my physical activity a lot and I altered my diet. Going from working in the field to management was the biggest killer to me personally especially when I didn't have the time to get myself proper nourishment. I went from 232lbs down to 214lbs and I should drop another 10lbs as I normally do during this season.
At 50 years young, I was able to reverse all the bad news and now, I need a new wardrobe. Just puttin' this out there for anyone who gets a bad report card from the doctor. You can reverse a lot if you put in the work and treat yourself right. My never having used drugs, cigarettes or alcohol in my life have a lot to do with me having a robust immune system, but even with any of that, the human body rewards love with health. Love yourself and you'll be alright.

That is a great story, thank you for sharing. Are you eating Keto, low glycemic, or both? The body also loves being worked out, it rewards us with massive endorphins.

Thank you so much! All videos from your start and the experience with Keto are so helpful. GREAT! I started Keto on 1 March 21 - just after 60 days of "training" with intermittent fasting since 1 January 21. I rode 13.000km last year with my Road-Bike and I do long rides (200-300km). I was wondering why my weight was 3 years unchanged due to the fact of massive activities. Now I will see to change fuel from Glucose to Fat! Yeah - again thank you for your detailed report in this complex process!

I’ve been on the Keto diet for a month now. I feel amazing and my cycling performance has gotten a huge boost. Never been leaner and stronger in my life!

Kent that is awesome, good work. Do you plan to stay keto or transition into something else? Do you fast?

Great Videos, thanks for taking the time to do them. I agree, I love keto for everyday keeping lean and happy. But when the hilly long rides come around, just cant seem to make it work. I too find that adding some carbs (usually potatoes for me) makes all the difference. While I would love to visit the donut shop, I am scared that would lead me (personally) to some bad habits of the past that I am trying to keep at bay. If your are up in Napa sometime, hit me up, be great to go for a spin.

I have done exaclty the same as you and I love it too. I use time restricted eating with ketoish low glycemic carbs. it is brilliant.

I had to jump of the trainer on this keto and I was just in zone 2. I will jump off this diet ASAP! Struggling to hold 236-280 watts which is zone 2 for me. I don’t feel hungry but I don’t have any power to smash out the easy zone 2.

Hey Kevin, I'm going to be in San Francisco on the weekend of October 10-13, you could tell me a good route for a bike ride. I already rent a bike from Rapha San Francisco

Actually. You can, but you need to use it as a turbo. Keto works well but during a ride or race you need to add small amounts of carbs. You burn enough that you will stay fat adapted. Like instead of 400 cals of carbs during a race an hr, I do 100 cals carbs and 300 fat mostly and protein mix. You mentioned you ride 20 miles then eat a donut? 20 miles you should really not even need food, at least for me. I am not arguing by have been in the same circumstance trying to nail this. Every keto know it all will say your body can produce all you need! Yeah all you need to survive, if your performing you will burn faster then you can create. On longe races over 10 hrs I will go up to 200 grams carbs after hr 5. Even adding a little fruit as fructose reacts different helps a little also. Afterwards I eat a keto meal and even checking ketons i am still good. Thanks for the video
