Words cannot express the emotions that come from hearing these two greats perform together. Nanci has a way of bringing out the best in songwriters like Townes and honors them by lending her voice to their songs. Thanks so much for this video.
We lost two of the greatest songwriters of all time on a New Year's Day -Townes and Hank Sr. Their music will always be timeless. I am awed by their genius.
One of the greatest, saddest songs ever, wonderful to have Nanci singing with Townes here, love Jerry and Mark on dobro and fiddle also, thank you for this.
just my opinion tvz one of the greatest american songwriters, townes, woody guthrie, lou reed, frank black, of course bob dylan, i would add gram parsons but he didnt have the body of work as the others, im sure someone would add a few to this list maybe robert pollard, brother willie
Nanci needs to push up the the volume of her singing; this is the third version of this song I've listened to where you can't even hear her over the voice of the other singer(s), even if they're backup singers. It just frustrates me, because I love this song so much and I want to really hear her.

@billwot Yes, Mark O'Connor on the fiddle, and Jerry Douglas on the dobro. What a collection of talent on that one stage.

This Just Blows Me Away.....Love It
Always love you...Always will Townes you gave me all I never have before...
More is less with this song...great fiddle & dobro work.
And Townes & Nanci together...this is an unforgettable video.
I never imagine they do this together and with Jerry Douglas on dobro and Mark O´Connor playing the fiddle,so damn beautiful, but it hurt so much.
Wonderful collaboration. I like how they switched the last 2 verses compared to other versions.
Love them both. THANK YOU for posting this video. True treasure.
just been working my way here from solo versions - including nanci at the tvz tribute - a sad song for a weekend of sadness...keif.

Beautiful song. The fiddle and dobro contribute to the sadness of the story.TVZ was such a great songwriter.
Oh, this is great. I'd never heard them play together before.

Does anyone know where to find the version of Pancho and Lefty from this show? (It used to be on UA-cam, but I can't find it now)
I know now why she's crying in the Townes tribute concert with his son. A wonderful woman.
Guy Clark, Gillian Welch, and, yes, even David Allan Coe....just not the stuff that gets airplay.
John Prine, Steve Young
Mark O'Conner on the fiddle
Does anyone know who the fiddler is?
@ 2:43 Did they really changed the lyrics from "she turned to whorin' out on the streets" to "she talked to foreigner out on .." ??

With his (with Townes Son) to avoid confusion.

Nancy, back your mouth up off the microphone!
