this scene was the only good thing about the entire episode. i don't think i've enjoyed a single episode since season 4.. i've just been watching out of loyalty.
CAN I JUST FUCKING SAY! As a True Blood fan this ending broke my heart on how terrible it was! I was so angry, all seven seasons to lead to up to this ending. The only good thing was how Sarah, Pam and Eric ended up. When Tara died at the start of the 7th season I knew I was going to hate it. You never even saw her die!!!! Tara who deserved a happy ending after all she went through... And then the worst thing of all is how Sookie ends up with some complete randomer who we don't even see!!!!!!!!!!! I would have been happy with either Eric, Alcide or Bill, but a random guy who's face we don't see. The whole series is a build up of who Sookie is gonna end up with and be happy with and we don't even get given that. I know I sound so dramatic over a tv series here but True blood was one of my favorite tv shows and for a whole 8 years of being a fan for it all to end like this. My only comfort is to try and pretend the 7th season does not exist and that is finished on the 6th. Anyway my rant is over. Will forever be angry at this!

I also watched until season 6, really loved this show for all these excentric storylines and characters and then it started to get weird and I dropped out and now seeing the end, I'm glad that I dropped it, even though I really, really had loved it! BTW, I always was Team Eric and I loved this one episode where he was all soft and fluffy :D. But just as you have written, Tara dying after all she went through and everything?! Yes, we just should ignore season 7, the others are really sooooo great (maybe I should rewatch ^^).

Sookie wasn't in love with Alcide, so she wouldn't have settled down with him. She was biding her time. And that was the whole point, not to see her husband's face. It shows she married a regular guy, that could've been anyone. If you want to see his face you can Google it. He was a stuntman for the show
I honestly think that out of all of them bill SHOULDVE died, but I don’t think the other two needed to. His character was becoming more and more convoluted and he started to matter less and less.
I was hoping that when Sookie was going to unleash her one-shot fireball upon Bill, it would end up doing the reverse of what she thought it would do, of instead of destroying a vampire, it would of cured Bill (but to the viewers it would look like she destroyed him). The reason her one-shot fireball caused Bill to become human was the intent of using it out of love not hate and causes the opposite of destruction with rejuvenation instead. Sookie would lose her powers, but it was okay with her because she already heard what Bill had thought earlier in the episode and no longer needed her mind reading powers from that point on. Then the series would end pretty much on the same note as this final episode but with a surprise reveal of a reborn human Bill at the dinner table instead of some random new guy.

What I dislike the most about this final season was the misleading poster of Sookie's blood tear. This made me think that at some point she was gonna be turned into a vampire - and that did not happen. Overall, I feel that this series ended too soon with not enough closure.
I was and still am a true blood fanatic. Like many other fans I was disappointed in the end but I recently binge watched all seven seasons. It was an extremely satisfying time. And I was able to get a better perspective of the whole story. It flowed so well and made complete sense. I understood what the writers were saying. The show remains my all time favorite of all time. A big gracious thank you to all involved in its genius.
Honestly this ending was a true slap in the face to fans. From season one, one of the main plot lines was Sookie's love life (understandable since shes one of the main characters) and as the series went on, throwing numerous possibilities of potential "true loves" at us. Is her love life so important? Probably not, but as we've grown to know and care for this character, its pretty awful to throw her with some stranger that we know nothing about and let alone don't get to see! Jason's ending was ridiculous, pushing him together with some woman in a few episodes and having them be together for life. I know a lot of people are happy with Pam and Eric's backstory and I respect that but it irritated me to see them end as they started off, as business people. I think that wiped out a lot of character development personally. I always rooted for Sookie and Eric but man it pissed me off that story line was dropped and never picked up again after season 4. They also demolished the meaning behind their relationship with that dumb backstory with that random French girl that happened less than 2 decades before he met Sookie. Hated most of the ending really and pretty much destroyed everything that was good about the show.
In truth I agree with everything you said. The directors wanted to give the audience "a sense of closure" but in fact it had the opposite effect. The ending seemed almost thought at the last minute and didn't make much sense to me. The history we had come to see of every character was basically discarded. I really didn't like the ending, they could have done much better. For example; Eric and Sookie could have been together (we've seen how much they care for one another and the chemistry they had). Pam could have been running the New Blood business with Ginger in Fangtasia. Sookie could have adopted a kid since they made it clear that as her character she wanted to have a family of her own. Various ideas could come up if they just thought it out a bit more.
The ending made sense to me. It was perfect and realistically Sookie could never have a peaceful happy relationship with a vampire and social services wouldn't allow a vamp to adopt a kid. I like a happy ending. I'm glad that Sarah Newman got what was coming to her :)
I believe the show is based on the series 'Southern Vampire Mysteries'. Though I haven't read the books myself, I imagine that the end was parallel to the conclusion of the book.
I wish Eric was at the dinner. I don't like how Pam and Eric were the only people not at the dinner. That made me sad :( I can't even believe the show is over. I used to watch true blood when ever i was sad. It always made me happy again. True blood was apart of my life and all the characters made my tougher days better knowing that i would be able to see them all again. As pathetic as it sounds they felt like my friends and i could always rely on them to be there for me. The fact that show show is all wrapped up makes me clueless as to what i'm going to do now. Words cannot even begin to explain how distressed and terrible i feel right now. I've watched the whole series 3 times but i guess I'm going to have to keep on rewatching over and over again. I think i could continue on with life if i met Alexander Skarsgard. ah i hope they come to Sydney so i can meet them :)
I didn’t grow up with True Blood and have just now started watching the show for the very first time....I’m honestly already used to bad endings at this point lol 😂 like that horrible Game of Thrones ending, Seinfeld, How I Met your Mother....Dexter...lol just to name a few...it seems like all the hype and expectations seem to drive it down even more. I like the show so far....I do hope that Eric and Sookie have more time together but I guess all my hoping is gonna be for nothing.

Farewell my beloved True Blood, I grew a lot with this show, and in a way it helped me through a lot. It took me away for just an hour or so from reality, from my first years in college being lonely and single, to my break from college with my now fiancé. In a way I feel like I grew with Sookie, she finally knew what she wanted in life and realized to accept who she is in the end and in many ways I have too. So thanks true blood for helping in making my transition into adulthood just a bit more smoother. Love, Yvonne

One of my all time favorite series ever. If wasnt for the finale...how the hell they created such stupid end to a near-perfect tv show like this, is beyond me. Eric and Pam saved the last season. Coolest duo ever !!! The marriage, the bullshit drama of Bill...took the most of the time....where they could put more action with the yakuza and in the end Bill marry Sookie. That would be cool and logical. l would even buy the whole series in Blu-Ray. But this last episode really its a stake in the heart of the fans. Anyway, most of the show was absolutely fangtastic"" and the soundtrack is simply the best !
Every scene with Pam and Eric are always gold, except for the sex scene between Eric and Ginger, that was a little bit too pathetic imo, even for her.. I've loved when she was screaming but right there I was just like "wtf"
Bills "ending" seemed an attempt at being noble gone wrong to me. It seemed self indulgent. Why not say he never liked being a vampire and wanted to see if he could be with his family? Why not meet the sun like Godric? Why try to put it on the person you supposedly love to help you do yourself in? I thought Sookie was weak and just stupid. At least Eric sort of ended up with Pamela and they lived happily ever after. I vote a big screen production of a story for them now!
I thought her infecting him and then also throughout the finale telling us he's gotten warm and that Sookie could hear his thoughts, I really thought the vampire would die and he would become human. Big fucking bummer.
I was done with True Blood when they killed Tara off. After all the shit she went through in her life and dealing with her crazy Mother, she even got fucked over in death and they didn't even had the decency to show her death on Scene. Also After her death, nobody really talked about her to much. Not even Sookie or Lafayette SMH. Also Bill pissed me off wanting to die after all the mess him and Sookie got into SMH. Season 7 fucked everybody over. It was rushed and the writers ran out of ideas to make the last season satisfying for us. Plus I wanted Eric and Sookie together and not some faceless man that they couldn't even show in the Finale Episode ending.
I have never been so upset by a finale! As others have said, after all this time watching the show, you could not come up with a happier ending - I was very disappointed and angry too

Loved how they brought Jessica and Hoyt back together. The Pam & Eric parts were hilarious! Kinda wish they could have shown up to the dinner. Really Wish they hadn't of killed Tara off. I loved True Blood it has been an amazing experience from day one! Every minute was bone chilling cause you never knew what was going to happen. This show will never be forgotten and it's been one of the best shows iv'e seen!
I just finished True Blood for the first time in 2024. What a great show! I wasn't expecting to have been so obsessed with it but wow, it definitely left an impression on me.
True Blood actually had an OK ending Bill ended up seeing his family again and Sookie ended up having a normal life just like Bill wished also Eric and Pam didn't die, also Eric got his long wished revenge against the Yakuza. Yes, Bill could have lived and become a human as many were hoping, that would have been better but the ending was obviously not as bad as Dexter's or HIMYM's endings. This is just my opinion.

So for the past seven years, this time of the year my Sunday nights where "True Blood" nights. But just thinking about the atrocity of that season finale makes my stomach turn How in the world can anyone destroy such a brilliant masterpiece of performance art. I wonder if the writers understood how this will affect the legacy of the series. I would love to buy the entire series on blu ray for those shut in days (snow or excessive heat) but I cant shake the final letdown. In truth, there where some seasons that did not live up to shows glory, but that was understandable given the depth and mysticism of the characters interwoven into a close-knit syndicate of fantasy; but the final was so grossly off the mark, so much it may have putrefied the legacy of the series. While I still miss the show and my True Blood nights, I wish they had did it over the way the USA American-British series, La Femme Nikkita, did after fan protest. The writers of seven 7 gave the series its true death, indeed. Requiem for True Blood.

I rewrote the ending. Sookie puts all of her love for Bill in the energy ball. When she casts it into his coffin he disappears. She breaks down into tears and kneels on the grass softly crying. Bill walks up behind her. We see him unfocused. He touches her shoulder...lifts her up and they kiss as humans for the first time. Sookie jumps back and examines Bill...she realizes he is human. Pam and Eric observe them from a distance. Pam is scathing, Eric is smiling...They take off into the Stratosphere. Four years later Thanksgiving. Tara and Sookie' Grandmother watch observed by Lafayette only. Tara and LaLa blow each other a kiss...no one notices The End
I think Bill wanting to die was about more than Sookie. He had been thinking about his human family for a while, even before he got sick. After he got sick and felt his mortality I think he wanted to be with them. I really liked this scene with humans and vampires coming together to spend time together. I would have loved to see more of Eric. The ending of the Yakuza storyline seemed rushed. Eric and Pam together getting rich, that was a pretty good ending for them. I can imagine them out there having their crazy adventures. Eric is by far my favorite. I am going to miss this show so much!
It doesn't matter who specifically was the one she ended up with. That's the whole point. With Bill out of her life she was able to have a normal relationship with a normal person instead of constantly being mixed up in vampire turmoil.
they should make an eric and pam spin off, either about New Blood or about their past and how eric got turned, all the crazy stuff theyve done together. that would be really cool

I loved the finale. I thought Bill's death was an extremely tragic, fitting way to end their romance. It was great to see Eric and Pam go on to conquer the world , whilst the Bon Temps community to rebuilt theirs. There's just something so comforting that all those people were still so close and normal after so much unprecedented violence and heartbreak. I liked the fact that Sookie married an unknown, unidentified character because it really gave the sense that she was getting a fresh start; she seemed to finally get her 'normal' life and honour Bill's memory by doing so. Sookie never wanted to be a vampire, which is what made it so nice that she ended up so totally human.

She also seemed to get better at controlling her mind reading powers throughout the series. Also once she actually knew what she wanted I can imagine that she could date someone if she liked him.
To be blunt...I HATED the finale. The story was boring and Bill dying was sucky! There was no Sookie or Eric interaction at all what the fuck? Lafayette didnt get one word. Jessica and Hoyt randomly get married. WHAT IS THIS SHIT! Well, atleast sookie was happy at the end... :0
I enjoyed True Blood. At the end I really wanted Sookie and Bill to be together- to prove that love conquers all. It did not. He died. But, she went on with her life, which is a testament to their life.

Me too. I can never watch True Blood again because I will always remember that the love Bill and Sookie shared is a love that they will never continue. The staff could have made Bill human because there were so many hints ~ Jessica felt his warmth and Sookie could read his mind. I will never understand how they could create an ending like this and just ruin seven years.
I thought the same thing. I guessed that maybe her blood wasn't actually accelerating the Hep-V, but mutating with it and making him human. They could've done a 2 hour finale and had New Blood as a cure for Hep-V and Sookie's blood as a cure for vampirism in general.

Overall, I feel that this series ended too soon with not enough closure.

For several years beforehand I thought that was exactly how the show would eventually end, specifically the final shot being her sprouting fangs.
I was and still am a true blood fanatic. Like many other fans I was disappointed in the end but I recently binge watched all seven seasons. It was an extremely satisfying time. And I was able to get a better perspective of the whole story. It flowed so well and made complete sense. I understood what the writers were saying. The show remains my all time favorite of all time. A big gracious thank you to all involved in its genius.
Honestly this ending was a true slap in the face to fans. From season one, one of the main plot lines was Sookie's love life (understandable since shes one of the main characters) and as the series went on, throwing numerous possibilities of potential "true loves" at us. Is her love life so important? Probably not, but as we've grown to know and care for this character, its pretty awful to throw her with some stranger that we know nothing about and let alone don't get to see! Jason's ending was ridiculous, pushing him together with some woman in a few episodes and having them be together for life. I know a lot of people are happy with Pam and Eric's backstory and I respect that but it irritated me to see them end as they started off, as business people. I think that wiped out a lot of character development personally. I always rooted for Sookie and Eric but man it pissed me off that story line was dropped and never picked up again after season 4. They also demolished the meaning behind their relationship with that dumb backstory with that random French girl that happened less than 2 decades before he met Sookie. Hated most of the ending really and pretty much destroyed everything that was good about the show.

In truth I agree with everything you said. The directors wanted to give the audience "a sense of closure" but in fact it had the opposite effect. The ending seemed almost thought at the last minute and didn't make much sense to me. The history we had come to see of every character was basically discarded. I really didn't like the ending, they could have done much better. For example; Eric and Sookie could have been together (we've seen how much they care for one another and the chemistry they had). Pam could have been running the New Blood business with Ginger in Fangtasia. Sookie could have adopted a kid since they made it clear that as her character she wanted to have a family of her own. Various ideas could come up if they just thought it out a bit more.
The ending made sense to me. It was perfect and realistically Sookie could never have a peaceful happy relationship with a vampire and social services wouldn't allow a vamp to adopt a kid. I like a happy ending. I'm glad that Sarah Newman got what was coming to her :)
I believe the show is based on the series 'Southern Vampire Mysteries'. Though I haven't read the books myself, I imagine that the end was parallel to the conclusion of the book.

I wish Eric was at the dinner. I don't like how Pam and Eric were the only people not at the dinner. That made me sad :( I can't even believe the show is over. I used to watch true blood when ever i was sad. It always made me happy again. True blood was apart of my life and all the characters made my tougher days better knowing that i would be able to see them all again. As pathetic as it sounds they felt like my friends and i could always rely on them to be there for me. The fact that show show is all wrapped up makes me clueless as to what i'm going to do now. Words cannot even begin to explain how distressed and terrible i feel right now. I've watched the whole series 3 times but i guess I'm going to have to keep on rewatching over and over again. I think i could continue on with life if i met Alexander Skarsgard. ah i hope they come to Sydney so i can meet them :)
I didn’t grow up with True Blood and have just now started watching the show for the very first time....I’m honestly already used to bad endings at this point lol 😂 like that horrible Game of Thrones ending, Seinfeld, How I Met your Mother....Dexter...lol just to name a few...it seems like all the hype and expectations seem to drive it down even more. I like the show so far....I do hope that Eric and Sookie have more time together but I guess all my hoping is gonna be for nothing.

pearl Piy yes I started to notice that. I really DON’T like season 5. To me it seems to contradict itself on a lot of the earlier seasons. Season 4 is really the best season for me as well! So I agree with you! 😁 I like it with Eric loses his memory. The whole point of the show was to see who Sookie ended up with if Bill or Eric....what a letdown but I’m still watching on quarantine lol.

I wanted some closure for Eric and sookie but no...the finale seemed so rushed, no Lafayette, no Sam no nothing. Hell, Eric and Pam only appeared in the beginning and the end. Honestly, I would have preferred sookie ending up bill and some random guy whose face we don't even get to see even tho I wanted her to end up with Eric. Anyway I will miss this show so much and in my mind this isn't how things ended.

Farewell my beloved True Blood, I grew a lot with this show, and in a way it helped me through a lot. It took me away for just an hour or so from reality, from my first years in college being lonely and single, to my break from college with my now fiancé. In a way I feel like I grew with Sookie, she finally knew what she wanted in life and realized to accept who she is in the end and in many ways I have too. So thanks true blood for helping in making my transition into adulthood just a bit more smoother. Love, Yvonne

I feel kinda empty, I think it's so unfair Tara's true death, she is one of the principal secondary characters in the show, and she was a new born baby vamp, how can a sick vamp kill her?? they are weaker right? even she being only a baby vamp she's strongest than a stupid sick vamp RIGHT!!??1!

One of my all time favorite series ever. If wasnt for the finale...how the hell they created such stupid end to a near-perfect tv show like this, is beyond me. Eric and Pam saved the last season. Coolest duo ever !!! The marriage, the bullshit drama of Bill...took the most of the time....where they could put more action with the yakuza and in the end Bill marry Sookie. That would be cool and logical. l would even buy the whole series in Blu-Ray. But this last episode really its a stake in the heart of the fans. Anyway, most of the show was absolutely fangtastic"" and the soundtrack is simply the best !

Sookies marries a faceless flunky, horrible ending. I loved this show until the last season. The best part was always Pam and Eric.
Every scene with Pam and Eric are always gold, except for the sex scene between Eric and Ginger, that was a little bit too pathetic imo, even for her.. I've loved when she was screaming but right there I was just like "wtf"
Bills "ending" seemed an attempt at being noble gone wrong to me. It seemed self indulgent. Why not say he never liked being a vampire and wanted to see if he could be with his family? Why not meet the sun like Godric? Why try to put it on the person you supposedly love to help you do yourself in? I thought Sookie was weak and just stupid. At least Eric sort of ended up with Pamela and they lived happily ever after. I vote a big screen production of a story for them now!

I was done with True Blood when they killed Tara off. After all the shit she went through in her life and dealing with her crazy Mother, she even got fucked over in death and they didn't even had the decency to show her death on Scene. Also After her death, nobody really talked about her to much. Not even Sookie or Lafayette SMH. Also Bill pissed me off wanting to die after all the mess him and Sookie got into SMH. Season 7 fucked everybody over. It was rushed and the writers ran out of ideas to make the last season satisfying for us. Plus I wanted Eric and Sookie together and not some faceless man that they couldn't even show in the Finale Episode ending.

So many emotions watching this finale. Sad Tears, Happy Tears.....Great Song! I think they did a great job. Really sad that Bill couldn't have been at that table but I get it. Loved how they brought Jessica and Hoyt back together. The Pam & Eric parts were hilarious! Kinda wish they could have shown up to the dinner. Really Wish they hadn't of killed Tara off. Good Job, going to miss you all!!

I loved True Blood it has been an amazing experience from day one! Every minute was bone chilling cause you never knew what was going to happen. This show will never be forgotten and it's been one of the best shows iv'e seen!

True blood I will never forget this series I watched it from day one to the end.
True Blood actually had an OK ending Bill ended up seeing his family again and Sookie ended up having a normal life just like Bill wished also Eric and Pam didn't die, also Eric got his long wished revenge against the Yakuza. Yes, Bill could have lived and become a human as many were hoping, that would have been better but the ending was obviously not as bad as Dexter's or HIMYM's endings. This is just my opinion.

This finale was the biggest letdown ever. They could have done so much better, but for some odd reason they decided to fuck it up. What a huge disappointment. I have no idea what closure they are talking about. There are so many lose ends, open questions. Lousy work, and not thought through properly. AT ALL.

So for the past seven years, this time of the year my Sunday nights where "True Blood" nights. But just thinking about the atrocity of that season finale makes my stomach turn How in the world can anyone destroy such a brilliant masterpiece of performance art. I wonder if the writers understood how this will affect the legacy of the series. I would love to buy the entire series on blu ray for those shut in days (snow or excessive heat) but I cant shake the final letdown. In truth, there where some seasons that did not live up to shows glory, but that was understandable given the depth and mysticism of the characters interwoven into a close-knit syndicate of fantasy; but the final was so grossly off the mark, so much it may have putrefied the legacy of the series. While I still miss the show and my True Blood nights, I wish they had did it over the way the USA American-British series, La Femme Nikkita, did after fan protest. The writers of seven 7 gave the series its true death, indeed. Requiem for True Blood.

I rewrote the ending. Sookie puts all of her love for Bill in the energy ball. When she casts it into his coffin he disappears. She breaks down into tears and kneels on the grass softly crying.
Bill walks up behind her. We see him unfocused. He touches her shoulder...lifts her up and they kiss as humans for the first time. Sookie jumps back and examines Bill...she realizes he is human.
Pam and Eric observe them from a distance. Pam is scathing, Eric is smiling...They take off into the Stratosphere.
Four years later
Thanksgiving. Tara and Sookie' Grandmother watch observed by Lafayette only. Tara and LaLa blow each other a kiss...no one notices

I think Bill wanting to die was about more than Sookie. He had been thinking about his human family for a while, even before he got sick. After he got sick and felt his mortality I think he wanted to be with them. I really liked this scene with humans and vampires coming together to spend time together. I would have loved to see more of Eric. The ending of the Yakuza storyline seemed rushed. Eric and Pam together getting rich, that was a pretty good ending for them. I can imagine them out there having their crazy adventures. Eric is by far my favorite. I am going to miss this show so much!

I loved the finale. I thought Bill's death was an extremely tragic, fitting way to end their romance. It was great to see Eric and Pam go on to conquer the world , whilst the Bon Temps community to rebuilt theirs. There's just something so comforting that all those people were still so close and normal after so much unprecedented violence and heartbreak. I liked the fact that Sookie married an unknown, unidentified character because it really gave the sense that she was getting a fresh start; she seemed to finally get her 'normal' life and honour Bill's memory by doing so. Sookie never wanted to be a vampire, which is what made it so nice that she ended up so totally human.
I wonder though how she get with this humans considering her power. Maybe she did get rid of her power after all or maybe he's not human

She also seemed to get better at controlling her mind reading powers throughout the series. Also once she actually knew what she wanted I can imagine that she could date someone if she liked him.

To be blunt...I HATED the finale. The story was boring and Bill dying was sucky! There was no Sookie or Eric interaction at all what the fuck? Lafayette didnt get one word. Jessica and Hoyt randomly get married. WHAT IS THIS SHIT! Well, atleast sookie was happy at the end... :0

I enjoyed True Blood. At the end I really wanted Sookie and Bill to be together- to prove that love conquers all. It did not. He died. But, she went on with her life, which is a testament to their life.
With the Zeppelin soundtrack at the end, I cried.
the last seasons were REALLY BAD, but this series has so much to love it will truly be missed.

I thought the ending sucked. I haven't liked this show since season 3. And the way it went out was terrible. The way they killed tara off then have her stuck in limbo was dumb. Then alcides dies . i didnt get it....All of my shows on HBO are gone ..the sopranos. Entourage. The wire. How to make it in america .now this. Only thing I might watch is girls. But other than that HBO sucks now.
Cinemax got more awesome series than HBO.

Me too. I can never watch True Blood again because I will always remember that the love Bill and Sookie shared is a love that they will never continue. The staff could have made Bill human because there were so many hints ~ Jessica felt his warmth and Sookie could read his mind. I will never understand how they could create an ending like this and just ruin seven years.
I thought the same thing. I guessed that maybe her blood wasn't actually accelerating the Hep-V, but mutating with it and making him human. They could've done a 2 hour finale and had New Blood as a cure for Hep-V and Sookie's blood as a cure for vampirism in general.
Lisa Marie I believe in another life so I'll just imagine that they'll meet in another life, in another universe maybe (where vampires are not possible :)) ) and if they're not lovers there then they're definitely friends.
