Great steps that can benefit any homeschooling family. My oldest is one year away from being high school and I've been planning. Pretty sure things will change until then, but it's good to have a foundation to go off of. Having a degree, at least Associates, is another great idea. Several families I know have kids that went off to a traditional 4-year + or trade school. But with dual and following the state's requirements and matching it up to the institution of choice makes things easier. (Your hair looks amazing Becky!!)

Great info! I'll add that some scholarships require certain HS courses in order to be eligible for that scholarship. We're planning for 9th grade, too. Thank you for the video!

Wow, I have been watching you for 10yrs now. 🥳 Will you be making a difference in High School curriculum choices from your Older vs Younger daughter? I've been going back through videos wondering what the HS choice changes are especially what has been best vs worse vs good. Thanks
My 2nd daughter out of 4 will be starting HS dual college classes this Summer in her 8th grade going to Freshman year.

Hi! I love and appreciate every video on high school of yours I run into. Do you have any videos that you can point me to about grading? My oldest is going into seventh but has recently expressed to me that he wants to continue homeschooling through high school. I save and keep records of work they’ve done throughout the school year, but I’ve never had to think about grading and report cards until now and new to doing both. I’m pretty nervous about grading and how to apply that to a high school transcript. Is every daily assignment a grade? And are we just calculating the average of all the grades per quarter? I definitely plan on doing my research but figured it wouldn’t hurt to comment to get any information/advice I can on here after seeing your wonderful video. Thanks! 😊

I’m unsure about what gives college credits towards dermatology, ..medical.. my daughter wants to be a dermatologist & wants to do an elective course on that like her friend takes in public school. We are doing the required normal courses, but in actual public high school they offer elective classes specialized towards professional fields if that makes sense? I’m wondering if this actually exists here for homeschooling because the high school told me no & I’ve asked around a few city colleges and 1 said they didn’t know and another said that the information on Google is incorrect for pre high school college credits for California and everyone else online says online courses for professional college electives.
What online courses? Because they all want a diploma before enrollment because they’re actual college classes 👁️👄👁️
😆if anyone knows & can point me in the right direction I’d greatly appreciate it.

Hello! I live in California. Some colleges offer dual enrollment for high school students, but not all of their classes are available for that. I would say, search for the colleges that offer the type of class you want your daughter to take then contact them to see if they have a dual enrollment program and if so, is that class included in it. Some colleges also require the student to be at least a junior for dual enrollment. However, if you found your own online class (not through a college), and it meets the criteria to be a complete high school class (example: enough hours), you can have her take that, and it will count as an elective credit (or half credit if it’s only 1 semester long instead of a full year). I hope that helps!
