Growing up with my name, I’ve never had anything that symbolizes me. Not those keychains you get in a store, not a character in a movie.
But then I realized, I have this song.
I’m thankful that my dad named me Naima!
Me paso exactamente igual, después de tantos pero tantos años, gracias padre por haberme dado éste hermoso nombre, seguro que en honor a la Historia de Naima y esta bella melodía ❤❤❤
You are very blessed.
My daughter name is Naima❤️! Many beautiful meanings in many languages, but for me best of them all is "gift", that she is.
I wanted to give my daughter's name, Naima. But my wife refused, cause she doesn't know anything about Coltrane. Then I named my daughter, Kinanti, in Javanese it means Beautiful Song.
And she is 5 years old today, October 10th 2020. 10102020.
❤
Good for you
Nice story and a very nice name we must be alike. I named my daughter Naima after this song and she is now 17 years old.
@@bwebster6234 hope you guys always happy & healthy.
@@agniaftonadiyoga4481 Thank you and health and happiness to you and yours as well.
Para mí, Naima es uno de los mejores tesoros que Coltrane pudo dejar en este mundo. Completamente enamorada. Fascinada. Se percibe amor en cada nota. Sensualidad y pasión. Esta obra de arte me supera.
You sound like a musical Picasso, que lindo. 🌹🌹🌹
I met a lady named Naima once and asked her to listen to this. She dismissed it and had no idea who John Coltrane was. I truly felt pain in that moment and never spoke to her again.
😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
My Name is NAIMA 🥰💜
I named my seed after this beautiful composition
Weed?

John Coltrane was, no doubt, a genious! I love him and yes hahaha "Naima" is one of my favorite Jazz standards.
NAIMA = ANIMA => in Italian ANIMA means SOUL ... for me NAIMA is the song of Soul!
@@itisonlythemusic2394 it’s Arabic for benevolent. If I ever had a daughter to name Naima would be it! so beautiful.the song along with the name. Not atall are ya wrong by the way I just love the name and the tune.
Naima is Not anima!

Masterpiece
Legend
While Giant Steps is my favorite from Trane, Naima was the (only one ever) song that made me catch rain coming from my eye. So much emotion, yet focused.
Lovely ❤
I called my daughter Naima...❤
Me too:-)
永遠に不滅な方です。なぜだか今だにハマります。昔の方なのに!
As a Hotshot bad ass T-bone soloist, I can't play this song anymore without crying.

naima is very amazing~
Восхитительно
Why not mention the recordings he did with Alice Coltrane later on in his career? The stuff he did after A Love Supreme changed music. The whole 'free jazz' movement was the evolution of Music and the fact it's neglected by fascist critics stunted the growth of music. Swaying each other that we know beyond others, beyond life and death. "Every man has to find the truth out for himself" -John Coltrane *1966 interview in japan*
I wish Coltrane had kept his combo a quartet between the years 1966~1967. I've always believed Ferrell "Pharoah" Sanders hurt Coltrane's recordings with his mindless screaming, screeching and honking!
A great example is the recording of "Naima' on "Live At The Village Vanguard Again!". Coltrane plays with such love and spirituality utilizing intense vibrato only to have it ruined by Sanders.
My all~time favorite John Coltrane piece is "Peace On Earth" which was recorded in the studio on February 3,1966. Thank God Coltrane recorded that piece with Sanders on Piccolo and appears very briefly.
By the way, that track should have been released in 1966 or 1967 with the Vietnam War raging on. Peace On Earth was released much too late in 1972 with overdubbed Strings and with Jimmy Garrison's Bass replaced with Alice Coltrane's Bassist Charlie Haden's Bass. Alice Coltrane' also replaced her original Acoustic Piano performance with a newer one.
The original recording was belatedly released on the album "Jupiter Variation" in the 1980s.
I love the 'Stellar Regions" album!
