  • I go over the initial run of my Bixpy motor on the FeelFree Lure 11.5. Bixpy makes a compact unit with enough power to move the Lure 11.5 and gear on the water at a top speed of 3.6 - 3.8mph at its top setting.
    Want to purchase a Bixpy motor for yourself? Go check out what they have to offer here: bixpy.com/jpin...

    "I'll be able to drink my coffee in the morning instead of having to paddle" - This. People that have been using motors and say they don't catch fish any better than paddle kayaks are missing the point of the luxury of the improvement of life on the water with a motor! I can't wait to add a motor so my hour paddle in the cold winter mornings will become a casual stroll with coffee rather than a paddle workout getting water everywhere! Good video man!

      Thanks man, I'm with you on those cold morning paddles now. With the toe controls and motor doing the work, even if I'm not catching anything I'm still out there enjoying time on the water. I love having the motor to help out in the many adventures on the water. I'm hoping to go even further and explore different waters this year. Take care and enjoy the ride.

    Hey bro, great vid. The 1st accessory I purchased was my bixpy. I purchased my 1st kayak this year. Hoodoo impulse 120 Fin drive. I'm 5ft 7 151 lbs. Now I've purchased all my other accessories and I'm still setting up my kayak. I fish a 4600 acre lake and a few other smaller one's. I run mine on 4-5 speed. And it last all day on the water. I still haven't seen all 4600 acres. But next year I'm going to purchase a 2nd battery, because I'm going to enter tournaments. I have a Cabela's 12v for my FF, and my USB/VOLTMETER charge panel. But I went with the bixpy because of the weight, and you get a battery. Was going to get the Newport Vessels NK 180, which easily does over 5mph for $800. But then you'd have to spend atleast another $600 in lithium batteries for it to last all day. Bixpy is perfect, especially for our kind of kayaks in freshwater. Be safe bro.🙏🎣🤟

      That is awesome. I've seen some of the Hoodoo kayaks but I've never been in one. I'm with you on having the Bixpy for the weight. I like that it can go on pretty much any platform too. It makes it perfect for switching between kayaks if you have multiple. That's great about the lake too. I have two batteries now and I'm hoping to get out and travel further. Tight lines man!! Take care

      Wonder if this would work with a solar charger incorporated?

    • @Bixpy
      @Bixpy 5 років тому

      In theory we can, but unfortunately, it takes so long to charge on a solar panel, it is just not a practical option at this point. We'll get there soon! Solar panels are getting better and better everyday.

    Awesome vid! My lure 11.5 v2 is coming in a couple days and I’ve been doing my research on pod mounted motors. So far do you feel this is the most user friendly bang for your buck unit?

    • @jonping8
      @jonping8  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks man. I will say that the Bixpy isn't necessarily budget friendly by any means. I do love how easy it is to mount, unmount, and carry along with you. I absolutely love the Pod mount for the V2 kayaks that support it. I will say it probably is the most user friendly Pod mount if you like a self contained unit that can be switched between yaks. Enjoy!

    J, was the Bixpy in the hole in the floor of the Feel Free 11.5 or on the back end?

    • @jonping8
      @jonping8  5 років тому

      It was on the back rudder. This earlier model doesn't have the removable pod.

    Great video, I've been told that they dont supply a rubber bushing for the rudder hole, and it's a sloppy fit. Is that correct? Also what is the run time on a battery charge. Since you've had it since march, would you buy it again. It seems a little slower than the prop motors available.

    • @jonping8
      @jonping8  4 роки тому +2

      Bixpy does not supply a bushing so you will have to find another way to make it fit. I used electric tape with the universal rudder. I am not using the universal rudder for the FeelFree anymore though. I am using a custom plate from YakGadget. I fish tournaments and local waters and I get a full 8 hours plus out of the battery. I am not using it on high the entire time though. I would definitely buy it again too. The entire package is small enough and portable to take anywhere and it is so easy to use. Yes, it is not as fast as some of the other motors out there, but for the money, easy of use, mounting options, and portability I would buy it again. Bixpy is also becoming more popular so third parties are doing a great job of creating mounts and ways to adapt the motor to different boats. My unit is still going strong! I hope this helps.

    what rudder did you use, the lure rudder or the bixpy? If you use the lure rudder, how did it work in reverse?

    • @jonping8
      @jonping8  3 роки тому

      In this video I used the previous version of the
      Bixpy rudder. It has a little slot mechanism that would lock it in place when in reverse. I have since changed my setup. I use the BeaverTail rudder that FeelFree offers and I pod mount the Bixpy motor. When I run the river, I use the Power Pole adapter from Bixpy and the Yakgadget Plate and pole steer. I like to switch it up, but the pod mount and BeverTail is what I love to use.

      @@jonping8 interesting. I was thinking of mounting on my feel free gravity rudder but I don't think it would work in reverse like that

    How is the foot control working for you? Do you still prefer it over a hand control?I’m interested in this for the SS127. YakGadget does have one of the better setup. It will be hard to shell out the cash, but if you look at other options they’re heavier and more complicated.

    • @jonping8
      @jonping8  Рік тому

      I prefer the foot controls over any other way to steer a kayak. I have more control and it leaves my hands to fish and use my Bixpy remote.

    • @jonping8
      @jonping8  4 роки тому +1

      It is cheaper, but I am going for ease of mounting, weight differences, and I can easily switch it between kayaks with the various mounts.
