First! Because I love Fuerte! Where I grew up in SVG there were lots of Fuerte trees. Decades later when I had a Fuerte I recognized that tangy flavor from my childhood.
Hi, wonder if you could help me increase my yield on my one tree. I have a dwarf avocado tree probably 15 years old. Each year I get tons of leaves and a lot of shoots that end up falling off the tree. I probably get 10 edible avocados a year from the tree. How can I prevent those shoots from falling off the tree and becoming edible fruit? Any suggestions?
I have a small yard and trying to cram in as many fruit trees as possible. I currently have a Reed and Hass but considering adding a Fuerte. Realistically, how small can I keep a Fuerte tree without over pruning it and potentially killing it? Any suggestions?
Thank you so much! I’ve been reading your posts and following your UA-cam clips. Great information! You are definitely my avocado guru for sure. Keep up the amazing contents. Fuerte it is…
I'd go with a Lamb, then you'll have a late season fruit that can hang on the tree for months, might also consider an Esther, as Greg said you can keep Fruete 10 feet tall,, but it still wants to spread out wide
Not mine. Mine was still a drone after ten years so I've grafted it over to other varieties. Fuerte can be a pain like this, but there's still nothing better than it for winter avocados once you get a good tree going.
I hear you. Fuerte is a gamble in some ways. But since there's nothing else that tops it in this season, I find it worth the gamble. Or more accurately, worth the perseverance in getting a tree that works like Fuerte can. I'm still trying out new Fuertes at my place.
Hey Greg. Have you seen anyone successfully container grow a Fuerte? I’ve got one in a 24” pot and it’s flowering this year. Hoping it will set and hold a few. If not, considering putting it in a 36” box. But don’t want to waste the time and money to up pot if it’s a lost cause. Thanks
I haven't seen a Fuerte fruiting in a container but I don't see why it can't be done. I've seen it with other varieties. Check the photos here: gregalder.com/yardposts/growing-avocado-trees-in-containers/

I've seen Fuertes kept below ten feet while producing plenty of fruit. See photo here: gregalder.com/yardposts/the-fuerte-avocado-tree-a-profile/

My fuerte never produced fruit
That's why I top worked mine with an Ettinger, so half the tree is Fruete.
Unlike what most of these videos imply growing avocado trees is a long game for those with much patience.
17 fuerte young plants collected 1200 avocados last week (they are years old)
!!!! Nice!!!!
Is that your tree that you made a video about it before? You had a problem with fruiting

Your tree got me to re-assess the feasibility of Fuerte avocado.
I can only hope and expect that by next year my Fuerte will look like one of those, beautiful. Nice video !!!!!!

We have Bacon avocado tree. So buttery and delicious.

Thanks!
Just got two Fuerte trees in my garden a month in South Africa 🎉
Nice! An acquaintance showed me photos of an old Fuerte near Tzaneen that makes up to 2,000 pounds of avocados in some years.
Ill buy it! Trying to grow one, year 2, still no fuerte 😢😅😅
Do you recommend the Fuerte in Texas ? (Close to houston)
