A few years ago I purchased from you an M2 with an Accra shaft... I've just gone down to my basement and brought up a King Cobra Ti from around 97/98. Going to try it this weekend.

I still have my 983K, loved the sound off this when middled, like a rifle crack, didn't MGS suggest!!!!!! only a few months ago that Chrome soft still had issues?

Brilliant vid as per. Really good craic. I use a TM 300 mini. Im not good, but looking down on a wardrobe sized thing is scary to me. I do hit some bad drives, but when it goes, it makes me happy.

Play what makes you love the game. People often ignore the effect the club has on you. Huge driver heads actually make us worse players over time

Nice test. I got fit for a Nickent around 2001 and hit it pretty well and far at 8 degrees. The next driver I got was a Mizuno ST180 at 9.5. Not a huge difference I've noticed, just slightly more forgiving. I think maybe if I had more swing speed I would notice more forgiveness in my Mizuno.

My gamer is a 983k, hit miles more fairways with it than any 460 head I've tried, 150-153 ball speed bit of a drop off on mishits but who wants high ball speeds when you've hit it towards the trees. Just picked up a 983E which needs regripping and I'll try that out next week.

@@soundergolf so the 983E is now my gamer, 157mph according to the same range top tracer 🙃 how accurate the data is I have no idea, better flight than 983K and have never hit so many fairways/green light drives the last few rounds in my life

I'm still using a 910 and a 906f2 with an Accra SE80 m4 and if something happened to that then I think I'd be looking round charity shops to find another. I know I'm old school but I really don't want any of these new clubs. I'm bringing out the 905r with the SC65 M4 for the winter just so I can keep the 910 for atlwast another summer.

All great drivers and that era of Accra shafts were the best. I think you might get back into the 905r

Good test and explanation James. Unfortunately you already know that the masses will follow the marketing nonsense like sheep. Persimmon all day everyday James

I love playing persimmon too. I just think the modern attitude to equipment misses the point. People are being told they should play clubs based on numbers which misses out the look, the feel, what will actually make you better and most importantly the pleasure of hitting shots. It’s as if those things don’t count.

@@jamesday4842 I couldn't agree more James. It's a multi-billion dollar industry these days so the ethical and moral codes go out the window unfortunately. I will stick with my persimmon and continue to enjoy the game and play how I was taught as a young lad.
