My mother never limited her carbs. She was healthy and went to heaven at 94. Mom had toast or grits most mornings. She never seemed to binge on any food.
Father ate not very good diet . Lots of white sugar , white flour . Lots of smoked meat , salami ,corned beef , hot dogs,burnt BBQ . moderate alcohol non smoker . Lots of carbs fair bit pop . usually non diet . Mind was sharp and died 96 . So don’t believe most of the stuff see on youtube / online . My cat was fat gave him less food he lost weight .
Wrong. Sugar is no worse than fat or protein for your health. It's a macronutrient your body prefers for a reason. People just like lumping the macronutrient in with high calorie, nutrient devoid foods like Twinkies and Oreos, as if that's representative of sugar. That's as misleading as lumping them in with fat to demonize fat as a macronutrient.
I think as long as your protein needs are met, the rest rest (carbs and fats) will fall into place. You won’t be hungry if you eat enough protein. You can then fill in the gaps with carbs and fats per your needs. I’ve always thought that the more exercise I get the more carbs I can tolerate without gaining weight. If I’m sedentary, the carbs make my fat pile on.

For some people, sugar is like getting hooked on alcohol or drugs. So “moderation” does not work. I choose to abstain.

You can lose weight while eating sugar, but it's still definitely not the greatest for your health.

I disagree completely. Sugar does make you gain weight. It's also very addictive. Protein and fat will satiate you.
This is a highly individual thing-people with insulin resistance should definitely avoid starchy carbs and sugar.
We run on sugar/carbs - and sugar itself doesn’t make you insulin resistant, saturated fat does…. And yes serotonin effect works !

Sugar is medicinal. It's anti stress and pro metabolic. Seed oils destroy glucose metabolism.
