      Glad you found this fix, it's a really simple job when you get to the valve, so knowing where it is saves all the trouble I went to. Thanks for commenting 🙂

    Just to say I had the same issue with a 2012 model. The valve is accessible just under the boot lid without removing any bodywork or trim. I just pulled the tube apart at the join, pulled the valve out, removed the inner part and then put the valve back in the tube and reconnected. Working fine now. Thanks for the vid!

      Hi David, thanks for your comment. You are correct that on the GD models (2011 onwards) the valve is located in a very accessible place which you can see just by opening the boot lid - I now have a GD. I am not sure why the valve is buried in the roof lining on the FD models but I was without rear screen washing for ages until I decided to dig out the pipe and find the failure point.

      Thanks for your comment and glad you got the fix. I never got around to replacing the valve and just left it 'through', but replacing is to do the job correctly.

      Hi ,i have the same problem, could you please tell me where did you get the new valve from and what is actually called. thank you

      @@ucuch if you search on Amazon or eBay for windscreen washer non return valve or one way valve they are a standard part as the hoses are flexible and generally the same size across all cars. One you get to the valve it is a very simple job to remove the old valve and put the new one in, just make sure you put the new one in the correct way.

    Thanks for the video, helped me solve my issue. Some additional info about what led me to this, I connected a vacuum pump to the hose at the pump end, I was able to create a decent vacuum confirming the lines were not perforated. I used Gary's tip to remove the check valve then confirmed water was making it that far. The valve was clogged with sludge so I freed it up using a football inflator needle, making sure the valve moved. It's important to understand that you cannot blow into the valve to check it works as it needs more than 2 psi to open. Once clean, I refitted and everything working. Leaving the valve open may affect pressure to the windscreen washer so advise against pushing the valve through. Hope it helps and thanks for the help. Replacement valves are available from Hyundai for about £3, or a generic one from Halfords for the same

    Cheers, I had the same issue and this took me 5 mins to fix thanks to your video. The valve on my 2015 i30 was indeed more accessible - it was in the small section of the tube between the windscreen and the roof lining.

      I'm glad you found the video and you fixed the issue so quickly, I lived with no rear washer for months trying to figure out the fault and waiting for a good time to take the interior out of the car. We've since changed to a 2014 model and the valve is clear to see between the boot lid and the car. In fairness to Hyundai there are lots of good design decisions, although the decision on the location on the valve must have been made just before clocking off time on a Friday 😂

      My 2015 was the same, no need to take anything off to access the non return valve, you can see it when you open the hatch, take the rubber tube off both ends then push a very small screw driver down the middle of the valve and work it until you can blow air through the valve, Put back the rubber tube onto both ends and job is done. Thanks for the vid it helped a lot. If you dont fancy doing the fix even though its a piece of cake for anybody, you could always but a valve probably no more than a fiver.

    Thanks for this vid - had the same problem with my i20, which is about to go in for mot (not sure if this could be a fail, or just an advisory?). Luckily on the i20 the one-way valve sits in the hatch closure gap, so no need to mess with undoing the headlining etc. Popped the spring and non-return out, and now it works! Will now order a replacement off Amazon.

    Thanks Gary, I had same problem from last 3yrs, I kept on ignoring it. Now I managed to fix it. Hyundai need to design this value in a different way.
    If anyone have replaced the suspension arm bushes, please send me the link.

      Glad you found my video and got the fix. We now have a 2014 model and the valve is accessible and not under the roof lining.
      As for the suspension arm bushes, I'd highly recommend changing the whole suspension arm. I use Autodoc, just type suspension arm into the search and you'll be paying approx £45 for the whole arm with bushes fitted, they are relatively easy to replace.

      @@garymiller9843 Thats a quick reply. This is a good idea to replace the whole arm. But I saw there are two big rusty nut/bolts onto the arms, I think I need to buy a electric impact wrench, otherwise I won't be able to unscrew them. Did you ever replaced these arms before, any experience? The garages are very expensive tho

    • @garymiller9843
      @garymiller9843  Рік тому

      @@greatwork3735 I did replace them but as it is a relatively simple job I didn't make a video. The reason I did this one is because the location of the valve is not obvious and I wanted to pass on the 'short cut'. I have a 1/2 inch impact wrench and for working on a car they are amazing. It's worth investing in a decent one; read into what torque they offer as power definitely helps with large rusty bolts. Make sure you use 6 sided impact sockets too as they prevent rounding nuts & bolts.
