Uh...Hello!!! Taking care of the nest is all fine and dandy but where are the exploding Sparrows?! We signed on to this gig for EXPLODING SPARROWS!! Listen Buster...Get them feathers-a-flyin"!
Stay vigilant Ted - especially after doing the house sparrow nest tear outs. As many in the Purple Martin community have learned, there's a phenomenon that occurs when house sparrow nests are torn out, the male house sparrows will go into a raging "revenge mode", and go after (even more aggressively than normal) any birds that try to nest in the compartment its nest was in, and any nearby or adjacent compartments - destroying the eggs and killing the babies of the other nesting species. It's well documented. The take away for everyone is once you tear out an active house sparrow nest, it becomes even more important to eliminate the male house sparrow as soon as possible. This may not be as much of any issue with single compartment situations like the Tree Swallow houses, but it could be if a pair of Tree Swallows try to take up residence right after a nest tear out, or there are other Tree Swallow houses close by that the enraged house sparrow could target.
I have been following you for many many years, over 10 years, even after me changing yout accounts, I was able to find you again. It feels like we both grew gray hairs together. Great to see you again.
Ive been shooting these things with my pellet rifle ever since I learned they're invasive. I've got around 2 dozen in the past couple years, can't stand these things they're the worst.
@LegendaryWoosla no actually they're one of the only 2 species of bird in the US you're encouraged to kill, doesn't matter how. They're not protected whatsoever because they're not supposed to be here
@@legendarywooslaNot if they die quick and clean. You don't see animals in the wild much, do you? Do you know how wild animals die? They are eaten alive by predators. They starve slowly in winter. They freeze to death. They are consumed slowly and painfully by disease. Nothing in nature dies peacefully in bed. Nothing dies painlessly in sleep in the wild. Everything is harsh, terrifying, painful, and slow. When my pellet passes through one lung, the heart, and out the other, and the bird is dead before it can flap a wing, that is the kindest death they could possibly have.
I've seen them kill chickadees and so many birds. 😢 theyre pure evil. I wouldn't let the parents live. It's likely they killed whatever bird was in there first.
Hey Ted! I love your videos! I just brought home a FX rifle to defend my Purple Martins. I always read your info so I could get the best equipment. FX should give you a commission!

You might want to focus your hate on the English for introducing the sparrow. It’s either an already invasive sparrow (that wrecks the ecosystem) or a swallow (that doesn’t wreck the ecosystem).
@@DocMustafa the “English” did not introduce house sparrows to America, they (and European starlings) were deliberately introduced by Eugene Schieffelin, an American, as a stupid stunt to introduce old world species into America.
@stacy. Yes! Ted IS a cool dude. You have a lot of learning to do. Hopefully you will grow up and realize the difference between good birds and destructive birds.
I honestly wish you luck saving a species native to your area. Nothing against the bird where it belongs, just when it's where it does not belong (ie. my backyard in USA)😊

HaHa! Exploding pest birds....including sparrows!! Gota love it!
The magic trick is watching them explode when the lead hits them
I've been destroying the sparrow and starling population out on our farm lately and our tree swallow population around the pond has exploded

Well said. Yeah, those males roid out when you wipe out a nest. But, when he came back around the next day, he got a lead salad. 😉

I have the same problem with morning doves. They are really stupid and takes them awhile to get the hint.
Good job buddy. Pesky little buggers !

‘Revenge is a dish best served scrambled.’ Sparrow eggs are edible and tasty. Mix them with regular eggs or eat them alone.

I wonder how those eggs would taste... compared to chicken eggs
Should have used the eggs for target practice and shot them in slow-motion

How do they taste?
