Stay vigilant Ted - especially after doing the house sparrow nest tear outs. As many in the Purple Martin community have learned, there's a phenomenon that occurs when house sparrow nests are torn out, the male house sparrows will go into a raging "revenge mode", and go after (even more aggressively than normal) any birds that try to nest in the compartment its nest was in, and any nearby or adjacent compartments - destroying the eggs and killing the babies of the other nesting species. It's well documented. The take away for everyone is once you tear out an active house sparrow nest, it becomes even more important to eliminate the male house sparrow as soon as possible. This may not be as much of any issue with single compartment situations like the Tree Swallow houses, but it could be if a pair of Tree Swallows try to take up residence right after a nest tear out, or there are other Tree Swallow houses close by that the enraged house sparrow could target.

You don't see animals in the wild much, do you?
Do you know how wild animals die? They are eaten alive by predators. They starve slowly in winter. They freeze to death. They are consumed slowly and painfully by disease. Nothing in nature dies peacefully in bed. Nothing dies painlessly in sleep in the wild. Everything is harsh, terrifying, painful, and slow.
When my pellet passes through one lung, the heart, and out the other, and the bird is dead before it can flap a wing, that is the kindest death they could possibly have.

@@TedsHoldOver, popcorn sparrow drumsticks were pretty popular at an invasive species cook out at Corvallis Oregon. "One of the most popular recipes in last year’s cook-off, “popcorn house sparrow,” involves trapping (or air-gunning) 20 birds, using a scalpel to carve their tiny muscles, soaking them in milk (to draw out blood), and panfrying."

Please I beg u people don't kill or hurt any bird.if they have arrived in ur area it would have been for a reason.Dont interfare in God's plans.we human interfare n then pay the price.I am damn sure the nations who labelled this innocent bird as invasive would get invaded with worst pests as these sparrows eat alot of insects n keep invironment n crops good with pest control.if they arrived it has a reason.dont hurt...please.
Those who are hurting them, killing them, labeling them as pests, would yearn to have them in their country after a few years bcs unexpectedly some swarms of insects has become uncontrolled.dont kill anything that's innocent.yes I know some insects n living things can be pests, but they have a reason.the reason for killing these sparrows is that they invade other's nests? There are alot of animals that invade each other's nests n kill babies,it's just their thing, they hunt,it's called compitition for survival,it's their ecosystem, what about those eras when we didnt interfare, there was everything alright, alot of species were there that are extinct now.
They say this sparrow invade bird food or eat from thrown away food or eat trash, yessss bcs it was made to survive in harsh environment,it survives in drastic effects like many other old world animals that made earth survive till today.
We human being want to be God's,we can't be...please I. The name of god don't kill it.fdont hurt it.
Listening to this innocent chirping n looking at tiny innocent thing,I can't even think about hurting.
    Every animal fight for survival,will u kill crows,lions,eagles? No u won't bcs u know it's an ecosystem.
N those godly people who are saying it's a bad bird! Mind ur language.its lovely...may be u r bad.
