Most powerful and most reliable line of highway engines ever made. The Cat and Detroit guys like to say "Oh but this Cat" and "Oh but this Detroit" and then you remind them of the KTA, and they crawl into a hole eith their beloved Cats and Detroits 😂
i had a friend who got passed on a nice grade , so he had thousands of $$ worth of work done on his 3406 tryin to pass that other truck an he said nobody with a dam cummins gonna pass me so i told him if it was a K cummins you will melt that cat b4 u pass a k series on a hill 😎
You were using blocks from 1980- 1982 bad mold , they were thin below # 6cylinder rear right corner just below head bolt ( get earlier block or later )!!! Iknow i broke one learnt my lesson don't turn power up .or get the better cast block !! then go for the moon.
I rebuilt one that went on a crusher which crusher which was on a plant that processed slag to extract steel . I’ve also worked on KTTA 1150s in Euclid trucks . KTA 1150s which are single turbo versions are in Kawasaki 115 loaders, and lots of Komatzu and Hitachi equipment . These are all over in heavy industry . They used to put them in over the road trucks as a high hp option in the 70s and 80s .
bcbloc02 more like eat it alive. These mechanical Cummins engines don’t like being ran under 1600 Rpms and if you notice, it’s still making over 800hp at the bottom of the operating range which is 15/1600-2300 rpm. You keep it swinging 1850-2100 on a pull, nothings touching it.
@@thinairdiesel3158 These two 1400+hp to the tires Detroits would beg to differ about if they can be touched.ua-cam.com/video/4QD-IFDuTRs/v-deo.html I suspect the k will last a lot longer on a long pull at load though. :-)
Leon has a good runner, that’s for sure and much respect for it but a simple injector flow change and probably a smaller button in this K and it would eat them for breakfast.
@@thinairdiesel3158 injectors are limiting K power , not much over 1000 real hp possible. Needs 11mm injectors and high lift cam to keep up with Detroits.
900hp!…lol!!..that’s amazing!..didn’t even sound like it was working hard!
When yall started to load the dynamic and she started buildin manifold pressure 😍 total eargasm
Now that's a ground pounder right there. Turning the earth with that tourqe
That's amazing! The old girl has some power. Just need an old truck to drop it in.

Now THAT is power!
I drove a 1980 Peterbilt with a KTA it produced 700 HP it was sweet! Pulling the grapevine 40,000 pounds 55 MPH!

drove a truck with a kt 450 back in the early 90's ,it would eat a 425 cat, it kept cracking the block on the right side

900hp 2800ft-lb not too bad. Almost keep up with the hot tuned Detroit 60 series. :-)
