Its awesome to watch him become more and more hyped as he sees the crowds reaction to the pitch bend. Even the drum major becomes excited.

When the drum major gets really hyped at the tilt bend it gets everyone hyped it’s such an awesome ending. It gives me chills every time I hear it.
I just love pit videos like this that you can see all of the other mallet players down the line so it just looks like they're a mirror tunnel all playing identically
I love watching the pit during this performance, when they smile it makes me smile.
This is now one of my favorite videos of this performance!

They also have potential educational value to teachers and performers, so there's that too.

what sucks is you can hear pit from the camera, but from someone in the audience its impossible to hear the marimba
in DCI pits are miced! everyone can hear these great tunes :)

Cool angle of one of the best marching shows I've seen. The jump at the end is amazing and seeing it from this angle was fun. Top notch performance by this percussionist too.

yeah it's Nick Jesus, he taught at my school in 2012 for one winter season. One of the nicest guys ever.

I’m a freshmen metal player and watching this is blowing my mind. I’m not sure where percussion is leading me but if I continue this guy is my goal.
This marimba might be the one my marching band uses. My band director probably bought it during the pre owned equipment sale.

It's absolutely amazing that someone could set up so quickly at the beginning. Bluecoats front ensemble>Every other ensemble.
Honestly, one of the most impressive things about this is how it's nearly impossible to tell when he messes up, the string hit and the mallet fumble for examples, He just comes in/keeps playing as if nothing happened, maintaining complete composure.
How fast this guy is moving it looks inhuman.
I've never heard of that part of the snare break before in the pit!!!

Conflux - Music and Art I didn't like the show myself, and tilt was amazing, but Fellinisque's mechanics were perfect
The ending was the coolest ever.
Jeffery Bybee no. I know it's an opinion, but anyone who says that is either stupid or hasn't watched all of fellinisque. And I'm more of a bluecoats fan. This is still really good no doubt. But they were competing against such a crazy good show.

Mr. Tony Dicarlo. I think it has something to do with keeping track of timing for shows. Making sure no one runs over, or something to that degree. I could ask him when I see him next.
Ryan Enos No. When you have a show that has a running start, nothing before the announcement is judged. If you find the 2011 Cadets drum tape they play at least a minute of music and eventually Prosperie goes "alright lets go" and then starts judging. That's what the symbol is for. To let the judging officially begin.

Veldkamp motorsports 2k18 it's a pre show. It's technically not the start of the show so it's not judged.

That's a 4.5 octave marimba, and it's synthetic.

Yo I know this is an unreasonable request but can someone try to help me out? So I'm a marimba player at my school and we got a brand new marimba, which I'm playing on. The season has barely started and there's already scratches on the naturals in the center. I have put anything on there besides my cover and a cymbal, which was on the cover. Is it possible for the cover to somehow scratch the keys inside even though it's on the cover?

There is a bass note just before the drum major takes off his helmet, and he probably waits a few counts, and then tilts. You just have to look back a few seconds for it.
I'm not good at lip-reading, but I'm pretty sure the man in the green shirt at 12:34 on the right says "What a show" and he certainly isn't wrong.
Does anyone know what kind of mallets he's using at 6:42?
They look like the IP PIUS1 mallets. I could be wrong.
Looks like Tom Rarick 3002. PIUS would NEVER hold up for an outdoor game. Like new set everyday

Yeah, it's gotta be those. They use IP mallets and it mentions the bluecoats in the description. Their percussion arranger uses them.
Tape colors frequently change though...
Peter Hilborn I'm just basing that off of what is on the website (which is what is currently being manufactured). I know that tape colors on the ends change, but usually players don't change the tape directly under the mallet head (the stuff that the manufacturer puts on). USUALLY. I know every case if different.
