I've heard a lot of good things about this movie, but I had to see it for mysself, and I am so glad that I went down to it. This film is a legit masterpiece, probably the best installment since the 1954 original. I don't know how, but I got extremely invested in the HUMAN CHARACTERS! Which is something the other films could just never successfully accomplish. You know its a GOD tier movie when even the human's side of the story has me invested.
It's not just a Godzilla movie with a strong human side, it's a human story. Godzilla gets comparatively little screen time compared to other movies, which leaves plenty of time to develop the characters. Godzilla works so much better as a story about what people do to fight Godzilla and how it affects them, than as a standard kaiju movie where the humans sit around advancing the plot until the end.
Well, it IS the best Goji made of all time till now. And it not only hinted, but openly SPOILERED that there will be a sequel. And i still pray that they lift Haruna and Tone for this! They have that chanze (like they had the chanze stealing Hibiki, Yuukikaze to actualy HONOR them and send them off properly). Also : SHINDEN! A lot of human beating would have ben prevented if Shikishima just told flat out "i have a shinden in need of repairs and a plan".
Fun fact in the original movies this theme was gonna be used for the Japan self defense scene but later scratched to use for godzilla, in minus one they brought the theme back for when Japan started attacking back and made it so heroic i got goosebumps
I always thought the atomic breath scene from minus one would be great if the choir version of that one song from Godzilla: Singular Point played over it
