I like your ideas. Nicely demonstrated. However, I'd like to share what I discovered while sewing my first table cloth this past week. I made a rectangle table clothe from cotton quilting fabric. The fabric piece measured 44" wide 90". My table measures 38" going across and 60" in length. My fabric measured 44" wide but after cutting off the salvage it measured 43" in width. I went to the quilt shop and purchased a contrasting fabric for the over hang since my overhang was only three inches. I bought three yards of fabric. I cut out the strips for the left and right of the fabric as you would do if you were sewing a boarder for a quilt. My 2 side strips were cut at 10". Then I sewed the left boarder onto the main fabric and did so like you would do with the magic pillowcase (Shabby Fabrics) as shown online. By sewing the boarder onto the main fabric in this fashion you have no seems. It's extremely professional looking. Then I pressed and did the same thing for the right side of the table cloth. Now I'm left with the top and bottom to complete. Since I couldn't get the fabric to roll small enough to sew like the magic pillowcases, I just applyed the upper board as you would a quilt. Then I pressed it and folded over the boarder. I hand stitched the seam closed taking very tiny stitches so as to not be noticeable. Then I did the bottom boarder the same. way. The tablecloth is outstanding and very durable and it looks awesome on the inside as well. Now my tablecloth's over hang is 9" on all four corners. It looks absolutely beautiful.

Thank you so much for these tutorials. I am wondering if you think I need to prewash the fabrics?
