I'm from Brazil, began to follow football in late 70's, have seen the 1982 brazilian team, but I think this Spain was more complete, as it was very strong in all sectors and had also pieces to replace in the same level of the main players.
The funny thing is that Brazil began playing like that in 1982 in Spain and then years later Spain based their ideas on the brazilian team of 82 and from johan cruyffs philosophies
I thought that Spain played more attractive football at Euro 2008 than they did at the 2010 World Cup or Euro 2012, due to a combination of Aragonés adopting more positive tactics than Del Bosque, and their Euro 2008 title giving them an aura of invincibility and causing opponents to defend for their lives against them.
Thank you, my friend. I remember the croatian team in 1998. Beautiful team. We the madridistas enjoyed tons with Davor Suker. And now Luka, top five midfielders in Madrid history.
Midfielders & Forwards are regarded greatly when Spain's recent domination is discussed but the one thing which is under-rated or less talked about is their solid defence. Puyol being the main guy there, was rock solid & instrumental in all those triumphs along with Ramos & Pique & those guys are as big a part of this success story as Spain's Total Football playing Midfielders & forwards.

This is one of the best teams in the history of football. That's like saying: _"Ahh yes, Carlos Bilardo. The coach behind Maradona's success with Argentina."_ Or: _"Ahh yes, Zidane. The manager behind Ronaldo's success with Real Madrid."_
I think you do not recall story properly. 1.- Luis Aragones came first: he won Eurocup in July 2008 changing style and adopting tiki taka and Guardiola began coaching Barcelona 2 months later, since Sept 2008 2.- If you review 2008 starters, Barcelona was not dominant at first: 2 Real Madrid: Casillas, Ramos 3 Barcelona: Puyol, Iniesta, Xavi 3 Valencia: Silva, Villa, Marchena 2 Villarreal: Senna, Capdevila, 1 Liverpool: Torres Main replacements were not Barcelona too: Guiza - Mallorca, Xabi Alonso - Real Madrid, Cesc Fabregas - Arsenal. Later in 2010, Barcelona acquired another players as: Villa, Cesc and added another ones to the team as Busquets, Pique or Pedro.
I always wondered how the players from Barcelona could play in the same team with Sergio Ramos, who in their league used to destroy, hurt and insult them.
1- Tiki-taka wasn´t what you saw in ´10 and ´12. That was Del Bosque´s take on someone else´s project. A boring take that was only made good by exceptional players, despite him. 2- Barcelona won NOTHING in 07-08 season, nothing, to the point Rijkaard was fired. Guardiola then arrived and harvested on other people´s work. The spanish Barça players had just learned how to win thanks to Aragones and they kept on trusting a similar plan at their club with the help of some excellent international players. 3- Barça claims that style as their own but they had long forgotten the teachings of Cruyff, just as now they´re forgetting them once more. The club was downhill for a long while before Ronaldinho arrived, not to mention Messi. It´s such a coincidence they picked it up right after Spain´s 08 Eurocup, isn´t it? We´re used to having clubs inspire great national teams, Inter and Italy, Honved and Hungary, Ajax and Milan and Holland... but this time the influence was the other way around. 4- Aragones had been working on that style since the 06 World Cup. Resetting Spain´s team around young, unexperienced but technically gifted short footballers. It was a result of his wish to compete against stronger, taller national teams exploding Spain´s strenghts instead of trying to play like them. The idea is similar to Michels´Ajax, but it comes from a different place. He just looked at the players he had an figured a way to get the best out of them. 5- Del Bosque and Guardiola are mediocre coachs. They just were at the right place at the right time. One is retired, at last, after failing miserably, oh my, at renovating an elder team. He showed zero skill, zero personality, it was fucking terrible. The other one is currently showing his real skills: wasting a beast of a team like the one he had at Munich and accomplishing absolutely nothing at Manchester. 6- It´s very unfair how people are not talking about Aragones´ Spain and instead are confused by the results of his influence: a succesful Barça and Del Bosque adding Busquets, Piqué, Alba and Pedro just to put his dumb hand on something that wasn´t broken; and Barça buying Villa, Piqué, Fábregas and Alba, seriously wtf, to add to the illusion it was all their plan. People don´t pay attention, that is why a legend like Aragones was bullied since 06 and then left after proving every hater wrong, who were then begging him to stay. That is why instead of enjoying a glorious team we all had to put up with a 4-6-0 line-up and other bullshit like that. That is why we can´t have nice things! 7- Casillas; Ramos, Puyol, Marchena, Capdevilla; Senna, Xavi, Iniesta, Silva; Villa, Torres.
You make some decent points, but saying Guardiola is mediocre and has accomplished nothing? The dude wins the league title of any country he sets foot in... including back to back Premier League wins with City. The first team to ever score 100 points in the PL... probably the most competitive league in Europe. The guy has won the league title in what, 8 of his last 9 seasons? In three different countries? Nobody has better results than him
Worse of all is that these British guys are infatuated with Africans. This black guy was not even one of the keys for Spain's success on those 3 tournaments, it was Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Casillas, Ramos, Alonso, Pique, Villa and Torres.
