It's weird that people keep saying he's underutilized. Like the dude can't speak English that is understandable. His accent is too thick. You can only do so much with that. If you are just a guy who can only do good matches and zero promo, then you are just like the rest of these dudes. AAA is probably the best spot in regard to fitting since he could do understandable promos.

Andrade is the Kirkland brand version of Alberto Del Rio, but Sammy Guevara has issues. He thinks he’s Austin Theory, acts like Austin Aries, but is as over as Austin Gunn.
Sammy really does seem from an outsider perspective to have let his success go to his head. It’s notable that this is now two issues backstage involving some sort of physicality that tie to Sammy.
The one with Eddie I get why Sammy didn’t get in trouble. The promo was probably a bit far for something he didn’t clear ahead of time but it was in line with a douchey villain wrestler and in the end it never even made TV. Realistically we probably would’ve never even known he made those comments had Eddie not blown up on him backstage.
But this one I am a bit surprised Sammy doesn’t appear to be in any trouble. It doesn’t sound like he did anything physical backstage, as Andrade confronted him and threw the punch. But the Twitter comments he made were just dumb.
Andrade started it with the interview so he’s wrong there. But Sammy was wrong for the tweet he directed at him and didn’t even tag him to it. And then the reply. Just high school BS that hurts the company paying you likely hundreds of thousands or more a year. But even then not sure you suspend someone for that. Maybe if he approached Andrade I guess. But he can’t be doing himself any favors backstage to be mouthing off publicly, doing nothing when confronted, and then skating off without any punishment while the other guy gets suspended. I think Eddie put it best when he mentioned he took issue with it being Sammy because Sammy is a hanger on who has benefitted a lot from that but has the attitude and entitlement of someone who has been a top draw for years.

Andrade said he was only fed chips and peanuts. Konnan denied it at first but then said that they do get catering serving chips and peanuts. Then Andrade said certain wrestlers get special treatment than others. Konnan said that was false and then went on to say that big stars do get treated better. Does he have Dementia?

My opinion is he shouldn't speak poorly on AAA when he specifically isn't getting over in the US because his English isn't allowing him to cut promos that get him over. Now in AEW they have 130 wrestlers and 3 hours of TV and that is also to blame. I've never watched AAA, someone tell me if I'm wrong if you know but I'm assuming he can get over with promos in Mexico. Or any Spanish speaking primarily country. Unless he's just one of those wrestlers who can't cut a promo either.

Being in the wrestling business didn't emotionally traumatize or kill anyone , being fired from the wresting business did !
Being it in killed a lot of people. The rigors of the old days schedule of working 300 days a year made a lot of guys dependent on opioids to get through it. And it destroyed families because realistically what chance could you have of keeping your family happy when you’re genuinely never home? It sucks how many guys messed around on the road but when you see in context how they just were never home to be around their spouse it isn’t surprising that it happened. And when it all ends there’s no retirement plan or benefits to take care of you. It’s such a shame the amount of former wrestlers who have to resort to crowd sourcing money to be able to pay for their health procedures that are direct results from their time in wrestling. Basically anything you hear about the business of yesteryear shows it was an unhealthy one to be a part of. Constant paranoia, pain and distrust of those around you. It seems to be improving in that regard quite a bit nowadays. And while I wouldn’t go as far as some of todays PC culture it’s also silly how many of the vets want it to stay how it once was.

There's definitely a double standard that exists here when it comes to this. AEW fans largely don't want to see TK as the bad guy and give him a pass on a lot of things they get mad at WWE for. But at the same time, there are also some reasonable aspects as to why his not letting guys go appears less nefarious to some than when WWE does the same thing. The first major difference in how TK handles his talent over WWE is that thus far he hasn't really made a practice of releasing a lot of people early. He has for the most part seemed to allow people he is going to release to finish out their deals and be paid and simply chooses not to renew them. Compare this to WWE where talents sign for X amount of years, and have to honor those years if they want to leave the company, but the company often times will then turn and release them early from their deal. The issue many have here is the fact that WWE forces their talents to honor the terms of the deal but then turns around and doesn't do the same. This is where the fact that WWE holds them hostage really stands out. Comparatively, TK hasn't been doing that, so when he expects them to honor their terms it seems to be fairer than in WWE. Another aspect is that when WWE was cutting people, TK was giving them jobs through the pandemic and then immediately when they see greener pastures people wanted to leave. I think a lot of people see the kindness TK showed and want that to be repaid. Another aspect that could factor in is the fact that AEW deals appear to be a lot less one=sided. TK has done a lot of talent sharing and allowed his signed guys to do Indies, be on Impact, NJPW etc. One thing for me that makes me feel less sympathetic for the wrestlers is the fact that they didn't have to sign multi-year deals to be able to do some shows in AEW. There have been a number of people who did a few shows in AEW and then moved on and were free to sign or work elsewhere (Cardona, Kross) so you do see some of these guys being upset to not have that freedom and recognize that they made the choice to not have it over being forced to not have it like they do in WWE. In WWE there is no choice but to sign a long-term deal to work there while that hasn't been the case in AEW. When FTR first came in they weren't on a deal but eventually signed one. Other guys like a Lio Rush signed for like six months. So you do partially consider that these guys chose to make a long-term commitment that they didn't have to make and now want out of it. And I don't think you can look past the fact that the sympathy one would feel is going to be less when you consider that a lot of them asked for a release at WWE, came here, and now are asking for a release again. It takes away the idea that WWE was just a bad workplace and puts some onus on the performer and how maybe they just can't be pleased and this being their fault. I apologize for giving a super long answer but this is something that is interesting to me to consider and factor all the context that could be at play. Maybe none of this is the case and people don't get mad at TK simply because they're still at a stage where they don't see AEW doing anything wrong. Who knows?
@@Matt-cr4vv imo the reason the few wrestlers who want out that did sign longer contracts, the reason they did so is more than likely because Tony khan promised them big things. Things that haven’t happened. If you read malakai blacks IG post he mentions in it that he wasn’t happy about his character and that there were things promised to him that weren’t kept. If I were a betting man TK made a bunch of promises to guys about different things and then he signed to many talents that made it impossible for him to be able to fulfill all the promises he made to them, which lead to these wrestlers wanting to leave.
If you sign a guy for 3 years for x amount of dates, and then you tell him your gonna push him and have really good programs for him and he’ll be champion or whatever you can think of.
But then you sign 20 more people and tell them the same thing, what do you think will happen?
This exact scenario is the answer. And if people really do feel that way about TK then how come nobody goes after people like Sammy who tell others to just “leave” knowing that they can’t? A bunch of talent on the other side of the coin are all like “yeah yeah just leave if y’all want to leave F you”…..but they can’t just leave and each side is very aware of that so it just comes across like middle school drama. Which disinterests your fan base imo.

However if you think I assume because I WILL FIGHT ANYONE & have fought several times in the streets and have never been bested that I can go and be competitive with UFC fighters you're out of your own fucking mind. But I want to emphasize the I will fight anyone part because if I come across someone who also has zero problems with fighting another man, I then know I'm dealing with someone who is also capable of handling themselves in a fight so it's my responsibility to quickly assess & recognize WHY?? Is he a small, med or big muscular guy? Does he have a weapon? Is he intoxicated? Is he professionally trained? What fighting stance is being taken? If he is professionally trained can I neutralize his jujitsu? If you don't know how to quickly tell rather you're in over your head or not, assume you are and respectfully bow out, if the other guy nicely and peacefully agrees to not fight. There's a good chance you were going to be destroyed if you proceeded. While i give disco crap and praise kohnan for being real. I gotta give disco credit. He is keeping it real. If sammy was the big shows size none of this would be happening. But Sammy is sammy he appeals to a younger fan base. He has that slappable face and he is a flawed human. The Sasha thing was way before AEW started and it was a joke. Spoken in context of how kids online talked during that time period. You could jump on xbox or playstation and hear kids talking like that every day. But Sammy stepped up and took his punishment like a man and never made that mistake again.
The eddie thing seemed to be a misunderstanding. Eddie is real and a fighter. Sammy is more the person you send to children hospitals to cheer up kids. It was just a clash of wrestling styles. Eddie took his punishment and admitted sammy was the victim. No issues with either of them.
Andrade had a match booked for mask vs career. He goes out and starts social media drama right before that match. Its his fault. But Sammy probably said he hits hard, well why not take a little off when wrestling him. Sammy is never going to be the brock lesnar character who wins with punchs. Sammy is the guy who will take big bumps for you and makes the match exciting. But then to basically say everyone in the WWE is tougher than him and sammy is a baby for complaining is instigating a fight. Then to hint he will see him yesterday. A fight was going to happen because Sammy had no choice but to deal with him.
But lets not forget Sammy is a higher on the roster value than andrade is in AEW. In mexico roles may be reversed. But Sammy is day 1 and has tried to always do what is best for AEW and is loyal to AEW. So andrade starting social media drama was wrong plain and simple. Buring Sammy to the internet did nothing for him.
Sammy was on vacation when all this andrade stuff started.
What was really cool and funny was the way Tony and AEW jumped right into it. With the fans clearly turning on sammy in DC. How they played Sammy up to rally the crowd and keep them engaged. That was very smart.
If Sammy is to blame its for replying. That is his only crime here. He should have kept his mouth shut and called tony. Not to snitch but to ask is this some new story we are doing between us? How do you want me to handle it. Or call jericho. Just to get why is andrade running his mouth and to make sure he didnt miss something?
But it looks like andrade wants out and saw sammy as a way to get out. No one thinks sammy is going to whoop andrades butt. Thats why they have weight classes in the ufc. So a bigger guy isnt killing the smaller guy. You dont want to see brock vs anderson silva because silva cant take the raw power of the big guy. Its unfair. Yes the small guy could throw first and maybe get a lucky punch that knocks him out. But outside that its going to be a small guy gets murdered.
So why did andrade go in to throw out his drama in a interview? unless he wants out. Its totally unprofessional. If his contract is not up, id suspend him and send him home. Tell Sammy to not respond to drama again unless clear its a storyline.
