- BMW f32 Steering knocking bush replacement.
If you have a knocking noise from the front of your vehicle where sharpy turning the wheel back and forth this could solve your issue!
Replacement bush kit - £30
Steering rack grease - £9
Time taken - 30 minutes.
This isn't just for the F32 but other models of similar year
You could always mark the cap to the body of the rack to get it back to the same 'torque' it was
hey mate would this possibly fix play in the rack arm itself? slight up and down play
yu forget to clean before remove old cap... big mystake

I have BMW 320d e91 it's same part?
Have tried to fit this into my car, but it wouldn't fit.. went in so far and stopped solid. removed the rubber seals to see if it made a difference but no.. a waste of time

Thanks for this video. I have been told I need a new rack as this fix don’t always work, is this true? I have the same car and my ride is bouncy and clunks at low speeds and over holes and bumps.
Both track rod ends, front suspension arm and right shock have been changed but the problem still exist and the car feels crap to drive. What do you suggest ?

Same issue with f30 2013 model. Costed R1800 for labour and part at Bmw . Issue sorted
howzit, did you also experience some rattling over rough surface?
My 04 Mini Cooper use to do that rip to her & I have the same 4series same color it makes a weird noise when I turn the wheel like it’s grinding against some but I can’t seem to figure out what’s wrong
what does it mean if the bush has been replaced with the repair kit fitted and the knocking appeared again after 1 week?

Did your steering feel slightly heavier than before? Not an alarming difference but just a tad to the point where you noticed?
I felt that it was vague in comparison when the new bush was installed
Was your steering slightly numb and loose maybe a bit jumpy on centre when driving straight?
I noticed how bad it was when I did this mod.

Yes - vague kind of steering feel

noise also with the engine on?
No noise with engine on as the power steering was giving assist
Good stuff! How did it feel on the road before fixing? I have f34, same sound when still and engine off but when driving I feel a little play when moving wheels left or right, regardless of speed all the same , does not feel solid.
Felt the steering was way more direct after this job. Would recommend

Same noise, same problem, mine seems like its moving something under the passanger seat or passanger door panel, could not find issue and it drives me crazy. Did you have any update steveo? Cheers

@@collinsnfellows no , actualy there are ZF steering racks and the repair kit is not compatible with it.

I used BMW General Grease
What year is your car? I have the 10.2017 LCI have the same issue! Could it be that it still has the same crappy bushing?
Don't believe the the revised bushing came out until 2019 so none would have left the factory with it.

Took me about hour. Longest part is jacking up and removing the under trays

Just had this done today and it hasn’t solved the knock for me. At first the garage set it to 70nm and it felt like I had no power steering and the wheel wound not centre. They loosened it and now it feels some what normal. I’m hoping it’s been fitted correctly. Any ideas why it might not have solved it? It sounds just like yours before the repair.
