I know I'm a yr late....but great video....I personally own a nucanoe f12....and buddy it's a great Kayak....I heard you say South Carolina, I'ts also where I'm at ... maybe I will see you around one day, who knows, we might even share some tips...anyway God bless you and your family
Thank you. I am up and down the east coast of SC for salt water. Also at lake Marion and Murray as well. Can’t miss the truck when you see it. Thanks for watching and comment.
@@rjmfishtales well I go coastal around North Myrtle Beach and Murrell's inlet...Santee as well. Mostly rivers around lynches, little and big peedee....anyway thanks for responding..
If you want both I would stick with a Hobie. That is the only peddle drive I like. All the other ones are loud and not comfortable as it bicycle style. I have many videos and playlists for the Nucanoe Unlimited and U10. FYI. I like the Nucanoe because it’s easy to modify and have an open deck if you like.
@@rjmfishtales I agree the Hobie drive is the best ....but the pivot drive for the nucanoe is slower but in my opinion quiet ....and turns wonderfully, I love it ...but I'm a simple person
Yea the pivot drive is cool but ended up throwing Torqeedo on it as my knees are not good at pedaling style. That is why I got the Hobie to begin with because the back and forth action over pedaling style.
Ive been debating about this one and the new TitanX. Im hoping to get into some tournaments but have little ones that i like to bring with me too. The fact that you can pretty easily tandem this one has me leaning toward the unlimited.
Yes super easy to go tandem even with the Torqeedo with the 2 different adapters from Nucanoe. I still have the Hobie as well. They both have their pros and cons. The new Titan is a beast. I truly like the open deck of the Nucanoe and simplicity.
@metalhead0731 it’s all up to you. It’s your needs and likes. When I do videos about choosing a kayak is you need to water test if you can for sure. Even though the Hobie is a pedal drive it’s a different bread. You still have lots of deck space and can move pedals easily completely out of your way as well. Going from a pedal drive to just using a motor was an adjustment but definitely enjoying the range and not killing myself physically to be able to fish back to back days especially at my age without totally losing all of my steam. But live taking the little guy out until he can able to have his own. You can do 3 people on Nucanoe. Myself, wife and son on bench seat in the middle. So very versatile.
Great video! Always look forward to your adventures and great content. Happy 4th to you and your family my friend! Continue the great work you've started. As always, #RJMFishtales rocks!!!
That one is from On the Water Innovation. I did a video on that one and also Fish Texas Kayak Trailer. Now I am back to a utility trailer I modified. I prefer utility trailer over everything else. Enclosed trailer is my all time favorite but too expensive to tow everywhere
I am glad I could help. I still need the anchor off the back. I don’t want it near my son. I made my own bracket for it to clear motor. Working great already. I did a video on that as well. Good luck with it brother!
Thank you. Yes after having a Hobie I am happy to go back to usability with simple and have fun. Less stuff to break and cheaper to replace boat itself if any issues.
Exactly the review I've been looking for. I've been looking to upgrade from my ascend for about 6 months and since I primarily chase catfish I need something large and stable. Thanks for the video.
I think you will like it a lot. It’s definitely fun. I have been on it 5 times so far and has been good. Will be fun once I get the Torqeedo on it. Waiting on parts from Nucanoe to do the install
Nice set up. Cant wait to see the final product. I have a lot of questions on adding a fish finder to my Old Town 106 MK. I know you are a busy man but if you can help a girl out i would appreciate it. I think i may have done somewhere wrong. Im not very mechanical inclined. 😂
I am sure I can assist with the install. I use Nocqua for my power on all my accessories and they are easy to install. Just let me know what questions you have.
Loving the new yak brother. The simplicity is the reason I stay with my paddle yak. I have gotten to where I lay my paddle across my lap and use it as a Rutter with the current it works good for me. Can't wait to see it
My opinion it would do ok but would not be my first choice for a smaller river . But larger rivers it is fine because I used it on the Susquehanna with the motor and will continue to use in larger rivers. But smaller rivers with rapids and strictly paddle I would use Bonafide RVR or Crescent Shoalie.
All kayaks get pushed around. If you are talking about Nucanoe? I fish tidal waters with it and just have Torqeedo and works fine. You adapt to any kayak you have. If you want to be able to hold position a little more then get Hobie or put an anchor wizard or power pole on anything else. I like have motor because I am also older and I cover much much more water than when I used Hobie as primary.
@@rjmfishtales thank you! I’m still going to look at the Nucanoe. Thank you for responding. I’m getting power also. I have a few things fighting against me but I’m still getting one.
Dude put your scupper plugs in. If water isn't coming over the top of your yak you don't need to take them out. Better bouyancy too. If you do get a little water, pull 1 out, drain the water, put it back in. But thats just me. Running mild rivers just keep 1 pulled.
When I am running the Torqeedo sometimes I put them in or when water is cold, but I never really get water inside. I usually leave them out because saltwater fishing I take big waves over boat and don’t want to remember to pull a plug in a hurry. Doesn’t bother me. Good advice though. Thank you.
Ok, I’m following you because I’m interested in this kayak and how you’re going to set it up. I’ve never kayak fished so I’m a newbie. NuCanoe make what they call a transport cart that slides in the hole in the back. Wonder if you looked into them. I believe they are cheaper than the boondocks but some of the reviews claim it’s not for heavy kayaks.
I may get the boondox one day. But for now I will just wet launch. I have the trailer for it. The other place I fish I just drop kayak by the bank off the trailer. Should have kayak finalized over the next month. Waiting on parts. Thank you for the support.
I have had my Unlimited for a couple years and I would advise against the transport cart. It’s too heavy. If you launch in the most perfect conditions you might be ok. More likely to need a bunk style cart. YakAttack makes some good carts are more available than something like the Wilderness cart. The Unlimited is a great platform, stable, versatile, paddles well for a large kayak.
I am most likely just going to wet launch it and not get the wheels. Thank you for the input sir. Yes I am having fun with it. Not missing Hobie too much right now. It’s nice not having the fins etc.
Are you talking about using no cushion? I use to but after getting the kayak Kushion now I must have. After 5 straight 10 hour days on the water it is a must.
Curious how your set up evolved. I made the move to get a 2022 unlimited with an xi3 up front (spot lock is awesome!). Have my Hobie compass still which is NOT a PA of course.
I am happy with using the Nucanoe as primary with the Torqeedo on the back. Being able to cover a crap ton of water now and being able to monitor the battery and possible distance has been awesome. I still jump in the Hobie when on small bodies of water though. But I will say I have been more comfortable on the seat on the Nucanoe with the Kayak Kushion. I am very pleased with it.
Yes 2 roto grips hold it secure. When YakAttack comes out with their Leaderboard soon they will be making larger ones for theirs. It will be accepted across all National Events. Should be out in the next month or so.

@rjmfishtales the nucanoe warranty is a huge selling point for me, can't wait to see what yours with the motor.
Should have motor in a few days and rest of parts following week. Should have video up shortly after.
Yea the warranty is good on parts for life. But hull is 3 years like the other big names. 3 years is good on hull though he way most of us abuse them.

How about i come to lake Murray. It’s my favorite lake anyways!
Looks like a great kayak. Love the K.I.S.S. theme. Enjoy it.
Thanks Tom. It’s going to be cool.
All I can add is you will want to buy a shorter cable (6ft) for your foot steering when going tandem.

A bass boat seat that you would sit in on the front of a boat seems like it would be more comfortable.
The seat on the Nucanoe is like a bass boat seat and spins 360 degrees. Super comfortable and when you add the cushion it’s awesome.
I guess the mesh might be cooler too.
